Importing SP character in MP? - Eudaimonium - 08-12-2009 ' Wrote:If you had actually read what I had said earlier you would have seen that it is IMPOSSIBLE under windows so to get around it all I need to do is... All i said was to mod your mod a bit to make it possible, but hell since it involves such complicated procedured (does it? somehow i don't think so) just foget about it. And it ain't just for me, half the players would use that. Anyway, first of all, i didn't mean to offend anyone, just lettin my frustration out on a wrong valve. I do not have admin on router since i do not have router. But let me explain how my network works: There are couple of fast flat rate modems in parralel, whose internet connection is being distributed via several wireless spots all over the town. Anntena on the roof is connected to PC via coax cable so i cannot hook it up on a laptop. But i don't think it is a matter of importance since it worked clearly excelent at friends place. I never tried Global server workaroun cuz of two reasons: Friend also doesn't have one, I glimpsed something on this forum that said: Don't use gsw So again logically no need for that But again when i think about it maybe the port used to connect to global server is blocked. Can you please just list all the port ranges used by freelancer so i open them up? Importing SP character in MP? - RonG777 - 08-12-2009 Well, I do not understand all your networking descriptions, but as far as the global work-around, it works fine for me . .. Never had a bit of trouble . . . I do understand your problem with game, and it is a good idea, BUT, too many people would take advantage of it . . . Never had a bit of trouble . . . Is your friend also using his connection shared the same way you are or is the PC he uses running a coax hookup? Also, can you try installing FL on the computer you have with the coax hookup? Importing SP character in MP? - JakeSG - 08-12-2009 Hell, if it can be done I have no problem with exporting from Multi-Player and importing to Single Player, although you could always just ninja-create your character in Ioncross. But the opposite? Not a good idea in the slightest. Importing SP character in MP? - Eudaimonium - 08-12-2009 Alright drop the import idea... figures that too many threats arise form that. The pc is conneted to wireless via anthenna (connected with coaxial on network card). And laptop is connected with UTP to pc, pc shares it's wireless to the LAN. Get it? Honestly. As Haddow has been trying to say for, what, 10-odd posts, this is an idea that's impossible to implement without severe drawbacks while using Windows, the only system that Freelancer will run native on without deeply rewriting it. Computer firmware may be advanced compared to when Freelancer was released, but not to the point where what you suggest is possible. I've actually taken the time to read everything that was said (yes, even your edit). Best to let it go. I was going to try being nice and sweet in my answer, but seeing as practically every single person in this thread has told you that it cannot be done and you still don't believe it, harsh may be better. Anyway, there's no harm in trying the global list server workaround if you can't access any servers. If it doesn't work, then deactivate it and try something else. If it screws up your mod installation, reinstall the mod. Doubtful, but even if it does, it's all reversible. It may be something software-related rather than hardware-related, after all. Worth a shot at least. Importing SP character in MP? - Eudaimonium - 08-12-2009 ' Wrote:Have you been reading what people have been writing or simply their usernames? Honestly. Still waiting for the harsh part:D I know i dropped it 10 mintes ago, working on a connection problem so i don't have to do import idea. On the other hand, i apologise for everything i wrote i beg everyone not to take offence, i was just releasing frustration on the wrong valve. Anyway , catch y'all tomorow Importing SP character in MP? - Lux - 08-13-2009 ' Wrote:Still waiting for the harsh part:DPhew, glad I'm not on the hook to begin with.
