Faction jurisdiction - Raven_ipb2_import227 - 06-03-2007 ' Wrote:After much thinking I voted no. I understand what your saying here mate, and not to influence you or anything, but I feel I should point out, the idea that we can't always be in the same place at the same time, is a good one... it would be awful if we had enough members to be able to police every system in our SoI, then there would be no chance for smugglers and pirates... I'm not for that.... i want a more free RP server, one where smugglers try it, and pirates run around looking for traders, or fights... but I also want to be able to match that pirate's RP... if he can pirate anywhere in my factions SoI, then I should be able to carry out my work anywhere in my factions SoI. You do talk about guard duty, and while this is fine, who said the whole system had to be under guard... do you see police on every street? Not in the UK anyway, if a problem happens, the police are called in. In the same respect, the pilots on guard duty, can stay around a certain base or planet (maybe the main trade lane in that system) and react to problems from there, and I'm more of a patrol person than a guard person, I also try to ignore people in other systems, i.e I'm in new london and a pirate JUST jumps into cambridge... even though I know this, I won't just jump into cambridge, just because I saw them in the chat bar... No I wait until my patrol goes that way, or I get asked for help by someone in cambridge, even if they don't get attacked, they may have picked them up on radar, and therefore can report into the local military, who in turn report it too me. (even if they asked me directly, they being in another system, would infact be talking to be via relay from a BAF npc) What am I saying? If the players can use some common sense, with some real RPing concepts, the house factions shouldn't be able to abuse their power, but will be able to reinforce the RP backdrop of disco. This is not possible, since theres a rule where pirates cant attack traders with cruisers or battleships. Recently LNS-Dallas from the SA attacked two smugglers in Texas. He was in a liberty cruiser, the smugglers were traders. He shooted them down, nothing happened. Same for phantoms, they can attack traders with cruisers or battleships. Pirates can do blockades in gates and ask money for anyone passing. However, the traders can call the lawful forces, and these will bring a battleship. Do a gunboat have a chance against a battleship? No. Not even two gunboats will have this chance. So the pirate will have to use a battleship, to be a match for it, but then he cant attack the traders, and so the blockade will not work. Bombers can be used, but with that, the lawfuls can bring a couple of fighters to attack the bomber. A bomber is not supposed to be good against fighters, but against capships. If the pirate in question switch chars, he will be accused of F1 and of system camping, if there is no friendly base in the system he is doing the blockade. My RP was dropped 50% because of all that, and plus 25% because of flames against pirates using cruisers and battleships against lawful forces. Im prefering a PvP server, since theres no difference to play in a PvP server or to play here, and in a PvP server I can still do some RP with some people, using some common-sense rules. Now, what is being discussed here is a server rule concerning if there will be admin intervention when a pirate is in a system belonging to lawfuls. If the lawfuls just dont want to fight the pirate, or cant find him inside the system, they ask the admin for kick him or beam him to another system. Its pretty obvious that lawful forces can have a patrol area extending to where their npcs patrol, but they asking for admin intervention is very lamme and will lead to the ultimate ruin of gameplay in this server. Faction jurisdiction - Exile - 06-03-2007 ' Wrote:No movement limitations. lets take Tau 23, IMG in the north, with a JH to its guard, tau 44 near its base there, java station, and a JH to tau 37 where they have a base, as well. then we have the BMM there, single base, and some containers scatterd around it. and ofcourse, the outcast with cali base. who would have the jurisdiction here then? Faction jurisdiction - caylith - 06-03-2007 F Wolf...where did any of us ask for Admin intervention for kicking a pirate out of a system? The discussion here is being able to police the whole of a houses' systems, not just their home system. It's fairly rare for a Phantom to use a BS against anything other than another BS. There are only 3 in the faction. To be used for massive attacks on the houses. For the SA...The smugglers broke SA's rules about smuggling. If you do something wrong, expect to pay the consequences! Same thing happens in RM space, KNF space and SF space. If the person scanning just so happens to be in a BS when it happens...well then don't smuggle in their territory! What is wrong with that RP? Now, what do you think about a faction's jusridiction outside of their home system? That's the question at hand. Please no flames, this has been an excellent discussion so far. Let's take it further, shall we? Faction jurisdiction - Spacewolf - 06-03-2007 i think it sould be 1 battleship for every system you own that would be a good way to do it becasue theres almost always just one in a system. Faction jurisdiction - BestFlyerHere - 06-03-2007 I voted for the first option, and I might just be jealous, but I think that in some cases NPC location should not be the limit of a faction's borders. In the case of HF. The Lane Hackers have 2 bases. So we'd control Vespucci, and a well-known base, and one that I can't even remember the location of. I think we should at least be able to control half of Magellan, and Humboldt, as it's connected to Vespucci... I like Dboy's idea though... Faction jurisdiction - AdmSirRed - 06-03-2007 I said no. what about maybe a lmited control of border systems form the home system. sintead of full controll on all. it makes sense that the further form your main abse you go the weeker the systems would be and less inforced. or some such. Faction jurisdiction - Panzer - 06-04-2007 Pff, the way this vote is shaping up, I guess IMG will be pretty much spread out. All over Sirius... It's a good thing though... Larger probablity of action. Faction jurisdiction - Archelon - 06-04-2007 @ F Wolf: Um - yeah - two gunboats can take down a battleship. My character, Didanetliyvedi, and Rogue 63 took out the LNS Dallas just last night in our Rogue Gunboats. @ AdmSirRed: Weren't you banned? Think we need to scratch his vote from the survey. @ Templer: Since when does a corporation own a system? But what the hay - they can control it - just won't have much governmental power over it. Faction jurisdiction - fwolf - 06-04-2007 Archelon, the LNS Dallas is not a battleship, but a cruiser. |
