Just roleplay with a Pirate ID player.

You come across a disrupted trade lane with a neutral IFF and Pirate ID player. Start asking questions as to what that civilian(if no tag)/Freelancer/Junker etc is doing there. Did that pilot disrupt the trade lane. If he was just passing through start by saying their have been reports of similar sightings by other police/navy officers regarding the pilot(it may be a lie but even a lawful can bluff). Say that we are watching you, and there is enough suspicion on the pilots real intentions. Then escort him to a neutral base or to a safe location. If the Pirate ID player co operates with you all the time then let him go and enjoy the good RP experience you just had (same for the pirate ID player). You can also try to harass the player a little more if you want just use your imagination. but at no point make any hints/mention about them having a pirate id. Just use their IFF, if it ain't their then treat the pilot as civilian.

With my rogue I do quite the same.

I'll rp that you have no right to arrest me. That Lieberty civil rights protects me. That I'm not guilty while my guilt is not proven and so on so on. If you can RP back and make up anything creative in response, well, that's your problem loosing battle of words.

I love you. I do the same with most of my unlawfuls when a lawful meets me. Or I just go crazy on my GC.

But yeah, I find (yes, I DO PLAY LAWFULS TOO) that theres as much a problem with lolwut Lawful players as there are with unlawful players.

It's no diffrent to the Wilde players that claim you can't tell they're Wilde in RP.

Yes you can.

"Sir your vessel is reading an ID sig of a known Wilde ship, explain!"

That's perfect RP, but apparently I'm not allowed to do that.

When catching your pirates in house systems just say "Sir, your vessels ID signature is that of a known pirate vessel, stand down or we will open fire".

Okay..Now listen up.

IDs should not and can not be read in Roleplay. IFFs somewhat can, but not for Wild players who have specific RP.

You find a Pirate ID'd player that is just sitting next to a station and doing nothing. You can't go 'You have a Pirate ID, you are under arrest'.

He didn't do anything wrong. You can't prove he is a pirate.

No, it's not "perfect RP", not at all to be honest. ID's don't exist inRP, and shouldn't be used like that either. It's simple, if the Pirate acts hostile, you're free to go arrest, pew pew him, or whatever you wish to do. But as long as he doesn't, you have no evidence to do anything, means he's fine. Though, it also depends on the ship he's flying of course, you can clearly make out a criminal on his/her ship most of the time. If not (in case the pirat is flying a Roc, Eagle etc.) You will have to wait for any hostile actions.

So..
What exactly is the point in IDs?

I always thought they were to tell you what the player is as IFFs are limited. (Or as an expansion of an IFF)
If IDs seem Zippo in Roleplay then they are pointless and a complete waste of space

"Alright Pirate what do you think your doing here?"
"// You don't know I'm a pirate!"

Btw IDs were used to (Back a few versions ago) to define what the other ship was. It's your ships registration, what your ships broadcast on the Friend / Foe channel. So that people can instantly RP with you.

I have been using this "I have done nothing wrong" on my Pirate lately! No one knows what to do, how to RP against it

After a failed Pirating I was under heavy fire from a trader. An LPI officer arrived and I stopped shooting at once and started yelling for help and that I was under attack. I demanded that I receive compensation for the damage I had received. The trader was dumbstruck (His english wasn't very good so he couldn't defend himself proberly)

I have no idea what the LPI officer could have done seeing as he Lagged off:(

lagged off or logged off? is that F1 from a roleplay... normally people f1 from a pew pew situation, not a rp one!

Pirate: - Elsdragon - 09-01-2010

Well, Call me a dirtbag, but I follow the dusty interpretation: If I can scan it, it is there. I dont know how exactly it got started, but I have yet to see an admin ruling that states that ID's are a completely OORP item, and until I do, I believe what my eyes tell me.

Pirate: - Soul Reaper - 09-01-2010

*doesn't get the point of the argument*

If you're a cop...and you see someone with a pirate ID...and after you've done your side of RPing, and he goes

//But you don't know I'm a pirate
//you can't do anything to me because I didn't do anything wrong

just...

.....freaking

Kill Them (With proper RP ofc)

it's not like they can sanction you or anything, so instead of just wasting time here, go and kill the pirate, duh..

--------------

Note: I don't get why most of today's pirates try to conceal their identities..''you can call me a businessman/I can offer you protection/how about a donation/...blah blah blah''. Hell, don't need to be ashamed of being a pirate.:PYou can directly just tell them you're robbing them...I mean...they can't do anything, YOU are the pirate.

Just throwing that out there, because I've seen more 'secret' pirates than normal ones these days...just a thought.
