Ships F1'd in space - Vladimir - 02-21-2011 Don't forget about the oxygen, and the need to go to the toilet, etc. One day seems a bit too long for non-extreme cases. 12 hours? It's alright. You are not aware of their ship nor their affiliation. Knowing the cargo (because he announces it in sys chat), you can guess his route. If you are in a position to get an interceptor ship the 30k from your base to the TL and make the interception that is two systems distant further along his guessed route, is that naughty? I believe it would for many reasons. The person that overheard the conversation in system chat is either: 1. The pirate that you describe as being F1'd just before the sell point. If he is then why not just pirate in the system? Also, how do you explain that he got all the way from that system to where he F1'd instantaneously? or 2. He is not the pirate and therefore does not have any knowledge of the transaction. Either scenario he instantaneously travels thousand of km and all the while possibly not having any knowledge of the ore coming his way. Ships F1'd in space - Markus_Janus - 02-22-2011 So if it is acceptable to hide ships by F1'ing them in space at chokepoints, what about this tactic? Make sure you have other ships for your miners F1'd in space, say a bomber and gunboat or cruiser. As soon as you seen pirate appear, as long as you are far enough away to avoid the F1 notice or RP interaction has not begun yet. F1 miner and switch to what ever ship is best at dealing with said pirate. This tactic can be ued in other situations as well. Would this be lame as it is just doing the same as previosly mentioned F1'd pirate? This is mostly to others that say to F1 ships is ok. I can see quite a few ship changes could be used before combat is started. Wow this can turn into a real mess. Ships F1'd in space - ryoken - 02-22-2011 ' Wrote:I find no problem with it. I RP it as powering down and floating around waiting. Ambush, you know. When it's some assteroid field, or nebula, or dangerous levels of radiation around, it's completely InRP. For caps, too.Well at this time if you stop, and F1 in a Rad field you will get a big surprise when you returm(it will kill your ship) ' Wrote:Total ooRP action, as well as metagaming.I RP the miner. How is it not in RP to sit in space mining? Cargo ship shows up with food/water/O2,and takes ore that is floating in space around the miner. If you really want RP? Explain why a mining ship would have millions of creds availible to transfer to a pirate? Do you think the captain yells over comms."hey everyone,we got a pirate wants money, hand over all your spare cash" Now in no way is my miner in space any more safe, then if i travel 30K back to nearest base, and dock. Infact it is less safe. I have logged on many times, and POW a pirate is sitting right there 5K away. ' Wrote:I think keeping ships f1ed in space for tactical reasons is lame. I agree fully. And i also agree no need going into depth here,as this topic is proving those who use to get advantage will never stop, and those who find it unfair, will just find ways around it. So at this time. As topic starter i will request the mod,or admin team shut this down. It is starting to burn, and that was not my intent. |
