Kusari RP? - BaconSoda - 01-10-2012 The Hogosha are still a very big part of society. I don't think it's so much Samura which said that Junkers were bad, but it was because everyone and his mother is afraid of the Hogosha and the Hogosha said the Junkers were bad. It's a societal thing that doesn't go away when a government changes, just like downtown Detroit didn't really get any better because the government changed. EDIT: Sad to say, because I love both my Junker and Detroit.:( Kusari RP? - Zelot - 01-10-2012 ' Wrote:Where does the new Kusari government fit here? On the Kishiro side? If so, is it possible that they might be a little more accepting of Junkers? I would think the only chance for that to happen would be for Junkers not to pirate in Kusari, and given they are allowed to by their ID, I am sure they will, and their chance of being accepted the way they are in other houses will go down the drain. That's a long time for relationships to change and the "Disco" GMG has done a lot to distance itself from Kusari in that time. If not for Kusari giving the GMG a refuge during the 80-Years-War from which they could do hit-and-run attacks, they probably would not exist. That war was 150 years ago. Now, during the first great war of the colonies between two houses, the GMG decides that it will not participate in an embargo on Bretonia, but openly enters its space with H-Fuel (through the Taus, no less). I know this because at the time I was the head of the BPA and the constable in space, and I turned them away under suspicion that they were Kusari. If I were the Kusari, I'd be kinda pissed, cuz, you know, the GMG owes Kusari a little bit, and openly trading fuel to the only enemy is a little bit treasonous. But then again, that would be like, say, when France decided that they would openly combat England during the American Revolution then, say, the Americans deciding they were going to trade with the Axis Powers instead of the Allies. But that didn't happen. Instead under threat of open-naval warfare, the United States continued to supply France with munitions. I'll tell you now that I don't feel very culturally close with France now and I doubt that Americans did in the 1910s either. We owed them something and a previous common enemy is what really brought us together. More recently, 65 years ago the United States entered World War II and freed France from German occupation. As an American, if the French decided suddenly that they were going to trade with North Korea and ignore the sanctions the United Nations had placed on it, I would feel very betrayed. They owe us something like we owed them something and they decided to trade with someone who we declared to be a part of the "Axis of Evil", a country whose very principles are contradictory to ours. What you do now is take that feeling of betrayal and apply it to an archaic Japanese culture which values loyalty and honor above most other principles. If I were Kusari I would be...pretty pissed. Stabbing a country who you owe your very existence to in the back is not a nice reputation. This is where the GMG has decided to take their lore. It could be a good thing. It could be a bad thing. It's just RP and it's just what's happened. Kusari RP? - Ceoran - 01-10-2012 ' Wrote:I am going for GMG too, I decided. Seems like a gentle way into the setting, they have a nice ship line and they have lots of stuff to do, 4.86 story-wise, as well as with all the new OC capships having to go through the Sigmas to grind in Eta, and they never bother with escorts. Should be easy pickings for a kaichou bomber wing.:nyam: They don't. And I despise that attitude. You'll only create bad blood with it. ' Wrote:The GMG shipline is beautiful. One of my favorites. Careful in Kusari when there are NPCs spawning, otherwise some Samura might turn everything red to you. Inconvenient when flying past a battleship. To my knowledge that should change as soon as the rep-ninjas get updated. Hopefully in both directions. Naha isn't much of a pain in the ass but nonetheless annoying. If it wasn't for the Hogosha, Samura couldn't care less whether Junkers are illegal in Kusari or just the average gaijin like, let's say, Universal Shipping. That's something especially Junker players often fail to understand (not all, but most). Kusari RP? - Markam - 01-10-2012 Wow, this thread accurately explained Kusari RP, and not the first half of the thread, that was all rubbish. Don't think that saying a few words in Japanese makes your RP any better or any worse, in fact, that merely underlines your lack of ability to RP when you fall back on such cheap phrases to make up for your lack of depth. If anything, attempt to speak in an accent with your speech, this does not mean you should replace all L's with R's and putting a U at the end of words, this means attempting to speak English with the nuance of Japanese, overusing the word honour, referring to people as brother and sister, using out of place English like 'most understandable' and outdated English like 'worry not!', omitting 'the' and 'a' occasionally or saying weird proverbs like 'one who throws the stone in air, gets a soar head' or something made up like that. People who simply say Konnichiwa and Sayonara (especially Sayonara, it's rarely said anyway) are not particularly deep in RP. I also have a problem with the direct-from-dictionary naming of Kusari ships, it's weird, especially considering the naming scheme of vanilla ships. Oh, and Zelot, I don't remember a conspiracy to make Samura hostile to Bretonia, in fact i'm against it entirely. Are we to assume that we want Samura traders to operate as semi-Bretonia traders under the guise of supporting Kusari exiles? If Kusari Exiles are to be interested in that kind of stuff, a fair trade would be that Kusari Exiles help defend Bretonian, and subsequently Exile Samura (?) trade in Bretonia, specifically against Corsairs and other riff-raff in Cambridge and whatever. Concerning language I'm a supporter of following the rules. It's an international server, with the rules officially stating the used language is to be English. I'm okay with local expressions of "hello", "goodbye" and maybe some localized insults ("gaijin"/"baka" for Kusari), but that should be the limit. Inventing pseudo-dialects like in Rheinland are just overcomplicating communication if not making it impossible to understand. On the naming pattern of Kusari ships I have to say though that all most people have is a dictionary and a limit of 26 characters. I wouldn't mind a list on all Samura ships you think are wrong in our feedback if provided with a reason. In fact, I'd appreciate it. However, we'll continue to ignore the SIS- tagging due to character limit. edit: activity sheet with all ships to be found here Kusari RP? - Markam - 01-10-2012 ' Wrote:Concerning language I'm a supporter of following the rules. Oh, sorry, I didn't mean player names, I meant developer naming of ships, like the 'wasupu' or some nonsense like that; seriously, just call it the bleedin' wasp and be done with it, no need to put it into Japanese phonetics and then romanising it and turning it into something like a bastardisation of English. The zoner Jinkusu is a non-kusari example of the same practice, hell, the very fact it's not a kusari ship makes the naming crazy, and what's more annoying is the fact that 'jinkusu' is 'jinx' in Japanese phonetics, naming a ship after yourself can be a bit egotistical. But then again that isn't too surprising, seeing as an entire corporation 'renzu' is just a Japanese phonetic version of 'Lens', take a guess what that represents. Hint: rhymes with rusty pens Seriously, if you're going to use Japanese phonetics of English words, you may as well just use English, it's what the Japanese would do, roman letters are cool in Japan just like Chinese letters are cool in the west.
