new type of ship in game - Submarines - Cris - 06-22-2012 A gb sized ship with 3-4 long range torpedo slots, low hull and a few defensive turrets would be easier to balance I think. Used to provide support from long range or hit and run tactics, with just enough cargo space to cloak for a decent time to escape. new type of ship in game - Submarines - Nikita - 06-22-2012 ' Wrote:A gb sized ship with 3-4 long range torpedo slots, low hull and a few defensive turrets would be easier to balance I think. Used to provide support from long range or hit and run tactics, with just enough cargo space to cloak for a decent time to escape. This is Fafnir for now. If he must use cloak - this is will give this type of ship only for running, but not for pursuing targets. And this type of ship cant do BIG damage from few shots.ONly always shoting - and this is called open battle. And again for this torpedo boat - we need ships which will give them fuel...and this is suck strategy,to have centralised core with fuel when others fighting...This is mean when you have no left fuel - you must uncloak to take trade request from core transport to full you with MOX? Show your positions, wait for cloak...this is very very very bad idea. And what will be when somebody attack this transport? All this torp Gb will left without fuel? or they must from one to another place always (to transport) to take fuel...this is madness. And even if you want use this torp GB (Fafnir type) this is for close system range fight.Only home systems\border systems. But not only in enemy systems - he will die there very fast. But "submarines" can fight on enemy sight.Like in reality "battle for Atlantic ocean". This is mean EVERY ship will have many fuel to fight on enemy sight undetected. new type of ship in game - Submarines - Fellow Hoodlum - 06-22-2012 Mmmm ... Space depth charges will now be needed as well I expect. A submarine is a watercraft capable of independent operation underwater. Underwater being the operative word here. Torpedo boat would have been a better bet, fitted with the cloaking technology we already have available. Oh, and we have a cap on the amount of ammo available per individually classed launcher ... It's seventy. You have been warned about the trolling, continue at your peril ... new type of ship in game - Submarines - lw'nafh - 06-22-2012 ' Wrote:Mmmm ... I'd like to see where it goes. new type of ship in game - Submarines - kainname - 06-22-2012 ' Wrote:I like the Idea of Torpedoboats, but it really has to be very, very defenseless and it should have a GB cargo hold, it'd be something like the ace, a very heavy attack force wich is rather useless in closer combat, like let's say artillery. That'd be the way to build such submarine Nikita. new type of ship in game - Submarines - Aethermole - 06-22-2012 Granted, with wise fuel control, you can pull off tactics disturbingly simmilar to this with a certain set of heavy cruiser class ships (BCs or at least the smaller ones, it'd be nice and awesome if all of them could but, cargo limits at 900, and 3/5 are over that (by small amounts too)...) Anyway, with a mark II cloak and Class V Cap, you can hold on cloaking for a good four minutes. Added to the fact that BCs recarge reletavely slow but can fire off massive amounts of damage for a short time and you have something simmilar to what you described in the first post. That is: Cloak, sneak up, unleash all you can, and then slip out of the way in the 20 seconds it takes to charge the device up again. Btw, if you're crazy enough to mount a UAU VIII instead of cap, you can push that cloaked time up to 11 min. Essentially, a uniquely kitted IMG or Kusari BC can actually pull this off with triple cruiser missiles in the heavy slots, a Mk II cloak, and a armor upgrade that isn't Cap 8. But its not gunboat sized, forgot to mention that in the edit. Whats awesome that I just realized saying this is that you can sacrifice armor for better cloaking capacity. new type of ship in game - Submarines - sajjukar - 06-22-2012 Crew to capitan: Sir the propeller its not working in space !!! Capitain to crew: OH?!....ok boys bail and swim to the nearest planet new type of ship in game - Submarines - Ipuvaepe - 06-22-2012 ' Wrote:After telling my idea about anti-cap ship from nomads, which is primary target - enemy BS\BC\Cruisers\carriers.9/10 for effort 4/10 for too much effort 11/10 for overwhelmingly successful new type of ship in game - Submarines - Nikita - 06-22-2012 ' Wrote:Mmmm ... Space depth charges will now be needed as well I expect. even if 70,i think this is will be enough for "wolfpack" on enemy territory. Torpedo GB and cruiser - this is another tactics.Damn it,guys, please try imagine battle. Torp Gb - this is near systems, but not long undetected fight on enemy side. Your torp Gb - not motivating people to use snubs for cover and for destroying submarines. Cruiser with cloak - okay, cruiser have 11 min,how long you can be with this on enemy territory undetected? only for run - yes,but not for fight and pursuing enemies and when they think that you already gone - you will attack them. After you will waste your energy - next your shot - this is called open fight. This is not "hit and run" tactics. This is open battle. And how many cruiser can do damage for BS in 1 shot? 300 mil? = 2 torps. Submarine will do launch of 10 torps and this is 1.6 mil of damage. IF will be 5 submarines, aka "wolfpack" - this is mean 8 mil of damage. An then, you can be on enemy territory and this is will be interesting...snubs\cruiser\destroyers will hunt them to protect the BS. Lonely BS - will be sweet target for "wolfpack" new type of ship in game - Submarines - Klatz - 06-22-2012 I believe this thread is a troll thread. It just can't be serious, one just can't be so heavily brain damaged. Seriously, tell us you're kidding. |
