I am afraid i must agree with those who disagree with this change. I am not gifted with superfast fingers that can type/fly/flee and scream all at the same time :-) but this server is gifted with a class of pilot who does not give peeps time to rp out situations. At least with the set message commands you could make a start on the rp without seeing your arse blasted over your head first :-)

Ok guys ... prepare to be insta-killed when you throw up your engagement notices.
This is nothing but a big step back.

Our opinion about this doesn't matter anyway, more and more ppl will leave disco permanently becouse of these UNVOTED changes.

Well, from now on it will be harder to make an emergency call in the Omicrons, pairing this with the freely engaging nomad IDs. I'm not happy, but can accept it.

don't forget the nomads will have a hard to for people to stop instead of seeing them instantly run away. As when someone sees a nomad on the scanners they run instantly. I dislike the setmsgs.. but it was sometimes a good option to start an rp

If you're really thinking of leaving because you can't be lazy then quite frankly that's just really petty. I mean, the point of role-play is to engage your character with others and being lazy about it just ruins the fun, saying the same thing to people over and over. Personally I think it's a reasonable change, I may not have used it myself but there's no big deal in its removal.

If you don't want to get killed by nomads, be cautious or don't go through those systems, you're aware of the possibility that they'll be there after all. In my opinion, it encourages smarter thinking...surely that can only be good.

RE: Admin Notice: Removing /setmsg Functionality - Ingenious - 04-21-2013

The only thing I used setmsgs for was

[TARGET] :: LNS-Santisima.Trinidad :: LOCATION C-4

and (after bluemsg)

I hope my cargo hold full of LNS-Santisima.Trinidad fetches a good price

So I don't miss em that bad

Yes I definately approve of this, was so sick of the abuse that the command was used for. As for this:

Quite possibly, I have been killed many times while typing...always due to a setmessage engager, or sometimes silent killers, the 2nd group is much easier to deal with though.

Yep, I at least used the commands when you hail another ship and ask it to stop at the start. Now you really just have time like, "Bowex, stop!" instead of a fine nice message due to the #t and a good sentence. After this, you can roleplay just the normal way by typing.
But if this stops those L1/L2 lolwuts, why not...although it will make things still not really better.

RE: Admin Notice: Removing /setmsg Functionality - Switchback - 04-21-2013

I would like to see the setmsg working for groups only, or a pre-made (by the admins) set command to allow for targeting in group fights.

Otherwise, I approve of this. Keeps from Sudden cap engagements.
