I have run factions. Keeping people in line is only a problem for factions who care about numbers more than RP or well behaved members. Split from Admin Notice. - Orin - 10-01-2008 Let me get this straight Baltar: You think indies should be completely free of faction rule? It would be nice if every indy running around Disco was a hardcore RPer. But they're not. I don't have the foggiest why you're so against what Tenacity is saying. He hasn't tried to dictate anyone's RP in the least. You're reading every hostile sounding explanation and ignoring the rest. He says that (and the Bs will say the same) the Order will not aid an indy who decides to attack players (and/or NPCs) in Liberty. If you look back on this incident with Ryoken, in the end Aki said that the commander needed to issue an apology to the families of the ones lost, but that the Order was stretched too thin to lose an Osiris. I think that's pretty damn nice! Not only did he not dictate Ryoken's RP, he let him get off pretty much scot free. What issue do you have here? The fact of the matter is: Indies should have freedom. They should. But they can't ignore RP. The 522nd are a good example. If their RP was mindlessly dictated, they would have no chance to work. Military IDs attacking Liberty lawfuls? The fact is, through excellent RP they have been recognized as acceptable. We can't have random indies completely ignoring in game RP in my opinion. Or maybe we can? In this case with Ryoken he has pretty much gotten off with little more than a slap on the wrists. What do you suggest Baltar? Nothing Tenacity has said is against your arguements, really. EDIT: You keep calling Tenny a dictator. Can you explain exactly what is that he is and is supposedly trying to dictate? That's a completely unsarcastic question. Please enlighten me! EDIT2: When I said that Ryoken should have RPed a psycho, my intent was misunderstood. I was just saying that I wanted more RP out of him. Playing a psycho is generally an easy way out of RP (save Mon'Star and a few). I was just saying that I wish he RPed something. The only thing he said in system chat the whole time was his empty threats that he would open fire on me because I flew a Nepthys. Split from Admin Notice. - Orin - 10-01-2008 Oh yeah, guess what? Orin- Split from Admin Notice. - Etaphreven - 10-01-2008 I'd love to write a 2 page long explanation as to why I think this decision is utter bull, but Tenacity and Orin here did it for me, and they did it nicely. You're killing a lot of RP with this... Etaphreven- Split from Admin Notice. - Orin - 10-01-2008 If my signature seemed against this due to the red. It's not. I just like red. Split from Admin Notice. - mjolnir - 10-01-2008 This notice is imo not properly explained and can be interpreted in many different ways. Let's see Outcasts and Keepers, if you with Outcast ID and tag have some nomad guns in you hold, many Outcasts will hunt you down and shoot you, or help a Keeper do it. Isn't this contradicting the "coded faction diplomacy"? With factions and capships it's another thing. Member of Rheinland Military will never attack a member of Rheinland Military, but what makes you a member of it? Just getting ID and buying a ship (say a cruiser)? I would actually say so, and personally don't care much about indie RM players, as long as they have id and tag I don't see any reason to fire on them, if they are keeping within RM RP. Once they act against it (go to S13, help pirates...), it's them who have violated RM roleplay and can be shot. Split from Admin Notice. - ryoken - 10-01-2008 Well reading all those long post's were a waste of time IMO. The admin's have spoken, and like it or not people? they run the server. Not the faction's,not the indies. What i get from this is... NO 1 person can tell any other 1 person how to, or not to play his char.(unless against an admin rule). As for the 2 day flame fest on me? I did RP my char. Maybe not the way other's may have liked me too, but tough. I also had some RP chat in PM. Only the 1's i PM'd know that, and they did not flame me for it. As for said order char. He was attacked by other order char's for not following the "truce" He was also commended from other order char's for not following the "TRUCE". Hell more then half the orderplayer's, and half the lib player's did not even know of the truce. It was not posted well. It was not written well. It was also not even voted on, nor did anyone ask if it was even wanted. The way i took it is... A couple bud's decided "hey budy let's make a truce so my order char, can play with your lib char. NP just do not expect me to suddenly declare a hated enemy suddenly nuetral. And i beleive that is how admin's intended this post. Not the faction's,not the indies. I re-posted the treaty in more clear wording here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24442 The treaty was put out there so that we wouldnt have to worry about liberty attacks while we deal with the larger threat of the bounty hunters becoming more aggressive against our home systems, as well as the keepers. The order is a small organization and cannot fight all three of them by itself at the same time - we get very little support from our allies most of the time, and have a very poor selection of ships with which to defend ourselves. The treaty does not dictate how anyone else should RP, all it says is that those who agree to it (black squadron, LN, LSF, and the independents who choose to recognize it) will not travel into the hostile faction's territory unless authorized by that faction. All that means is that if you want to go into new york without a fight, you should get 'permission' from the LN or LSF before doing so, and they should probably keep you under escort while you're there. Anyone who chooses not to follow the treaty isnt forced to, but you're on your own if the enemy attacks you. The "attacks" made agaisnt you, ryoken, were verbal and made in PM's - you told me that yourself tonight when I asked who it was that attacked you after your skirmish in new york. None of black squadron's players, or indy order players, are authorized to attack our own ships without unanimous agreement between all involved, or in self defense. Aki was the second character I made on this server, and in all my time here I've only ever seen or participated in ONE attack against another order player - and it was Zygoeths just recently. The only reason I attacked him and requested Bs and allies attack him as well is because he made the first offensive move by attacking my ship without reason or warning, and before that attempted to start a rebellion against the order (which is extremely OORP). He took personal problems in-game and never maintained character while dealing with them. Nowhere in the treaty does it say that order players will attack other order players who refuse to follow the treaty - and any who do should be considered out of line and committing unfounded attacks against allies. Verbal attacks are something you have to deal with yourself, the only hostile acts i'm referring to are actual attacks made in-game against your ship. Split from Admin Notice. - McNeo - 10-01-2008 I agree with this. I can foresee some problems with it, but in principle this is a good notice. Besides that, the principle of allowing people to play their own way without having another person's style of play forced upon them is good. We all play our own way, its not fair to force yourselves on others. Also, this allows say, Corsairs to shoot another Corsair who tries to go green with the Outcasts, while not allowing actions such as all the Corsairs allying with the Outcasts and then forcing indies who dont agree not to shoot the Outcasts. I think this is desirable. Play your own way, not my way. Edit: For whatever reasons a treaty was made, it can't be forced on those who dont agree when it contradicts what the NPC reputations are. It would be like the Corsairs declaring peace with the Outcasts so that we could concentrate on eradicating the BH plague from our systems. I dont know whats more OORP in that case, the BHs or the Corsairs. |
