Can someone clarify the situation with BS scanners? If I have such scanner on my battleship can I use it further or it will be restricted for usage and only thing to do with it is to sell?

This is the problem with even having switch like this. Now some people are committed instantly (bailing) because you basically just admitted you use them on 5 ships that weren't going to need them now...? so yeah the option is to try to find someone who needs 5 (or 4 in my case) and sell them asap, or hold out hope an alternative can come, and the more of us willing to do that the better it might be. One way or another this is not just a simple change for a lot of us I think. If you can sell sell sell you avoid the plummet in BS scanner demand (as most players don't have 5 caps they are looking to bump up to BS scanner all at once if they don't have them on aready) and save yourself. Shouldn't be done like this. Needs a parachute! Throw us a bone! Its a loss of credits but mostly we need another level long range scanner for the rest of the non capital ship classes (moneysink).
How about for a short time you could just 'redeem' your BS scanner for the new tier scanner. Let us be the ones to switch as long as there's something in the middle of relative value. Happy medium possible?

Liners should be allowed to use them, how else can I feel a smug sense of superiority unless I'm in a Renzu Liner with Cap 8 armor and a Battleship scanner

I second this - Liners are roughly as large as battlecruisers and should be able to accommodate a scanner like this.
Also, the Bustard should be made compatible with it as well. It's only logical.

Simple and humble suggestion is to introduce Gunboat Scanner 16/3 @ 150M and Cruiser Scanner 17/4 @ 200M as mid-way moneysink scanners for these classes.
