Calling on Bretonia - Drake - 11-07-2007 ' Wrote:If you cant be bothered then you need to make way for reform frankly... You cannot serve a queen privately and be called privateers your name would be royal guard or royal army along those lines, Queens and Privateers dont go they just dont i study History and they dont compute, especially when they also take contracts from other organisations aka mercenarying which would never be accepted by a queen as its an insult to your loyalty to her directly. Er, what? QCP don't take mercenary contracts. The only reason we use the Merc ID is because there is no Privateer ID. Privateer = Pirate with the legal backing of a nation. There's nothing about 'serving a queen privately'. Read the wikipedia entry I posted. Privateers were heavily used by the British empire. Most privateers were British. They didn't skulk around doing their pirating secretly, they made it known to all their targets who they worked for. That's why we're 'Queen Carina's Privateers', not 'Privateers Working for an Unnamed Monarch'. Calling on Bretonia - Fellow Hoodlum - 11-07-2007 Right Vanquisher, when this rather large contingent of malcontents get off teamspeak and out of game, to get their collective bodies to the forum, and begin a debate on the future of Bretonia, maybe we will enter into a discussion. Till then, no one but the faction creators and their members will be told how to operate their roleplay by whats appears in to be in essence, a rather 'New kid on the block'. So till we move this on, and go somewhere positive with it, I shall be watching closely. Gentlemen ... Hoodlum Calling on Bretonia - bluntpencil2001 - 11-07-2007 ' Wrote:Er, what? QCP don't take mercenary contracts. The only reason we use the Merc ID is because there is no Privateer ID. Actually, we do take mercenary jobs. But only if the Queen would approve and we'd be shooting those guys anyway. A good way to make a sneaky penny for the war effort. Buuuut... noone ever hires us anyway...:( Calling on Bretonia - vanquisher1991 - 11-07-2007 The queen you speak of i dare not get started on she was no queen she was rude and abrupt and she took and took and took say no more she is not a common example of a queen, alls it needs is some clear names. To merc and to then say your loyal to the queen mercs are loyal to no one, what if the spainish offered a better contract then they would not be Queens Privateers anymore would they its silly indeed. You must remember i have commended the QC idea i just disagree that privateer can follow it does not link what so ever and almost contradicts, Queens Royal Guard yes Privateer no! I think the roleplay characteristics are spot on but the scenario of privateers is not to be associated with the queens personal military. I wish to see something worth joining in Bretonia what has a logical structure and name to match its role. You may aswell call yourself the Queens Cossacks it in my eyes is as bad as Privateers, but as i said you guys got a good idea just needs refining and simplifying to a External and Internal theory which works in the other colonies, which is where everyone is rping these days so what does that tell you Bretonia...? Tells you to sort it out so people come rp over there other than yourselfs. Calling on Bretonia - bluntpencil2001 - 11-07-2007 Again, must I point out Sir Francis Drake? Or should I point out Fellow Hoodlum? Calling on Bretonia - LancerZero - 11-07-2007 This is rapidly degenerating into a mindless flamefest...Vanquisher, if you do indeed have a point to make, please explain it in terms that are not insulting and that people can understand. Run-on sentences that spill over into confusing paragraphs don't do well for making a persuasive argument. Calling on Bretonia - Equinox - 11-07-2007 Like we keep saying this seems to be your idea of how it should be run and your idea alone, until these hords of people you talk about come to the forum and complain aswell you have no hope. But like ive said i have a feeling your over exaggerating on the amount of people that dislike how Britonia is run. Calling on Bretonia - vanquisher1991 - 11-07-2007 Thats just what we was talking about in game on teamspeak but people have places they enjoy rping and it aint usually bretonia and that annoys me as i would want Bretonia to prosper as its a good colony, the people will not stand up now when they have seen volatile receptions on the forums and will not come on to explain it better than I, so if you had of waited before this you would of seen a few the others will not come to the forums to engage in this as they have Rhineland and Liberty and enjoy the roleplays there so they cannot be bothered to try sort Bretonia out, but being passionate about Bretonia i feel necessary to take a stand. I cant explain why but it does not function like a colony at this time i think its down to structure but Rhineland and Liberty are working real nice now so i dont see why Bretonia is not, Iam being positive i have made suggestions and complimented those who are working hard and being unrecognised in Bretonia coming up with fantastic ideas like QC minus the P. Maybe Kusari and the shogun idea can be picked up and run with to give it a lease of new life. Calling on Bretonia - bluntpencil2001 - 11-07-2007 I give up. Some people just don't learn. I'm glad I'm not a teacher. Calling on Bretonia - cmfalconer - 11-07-2007 it's like talking to a brick wall. I've read all the posts in this thread and he just doesn't get it Ares. Vanquisher, you're thinking of Pirates in the current Disco sense, but the QCP are interdicting shipping in Kusari and their allies, but the only "pirating" they seem to do is collecting the loot from their interdiction. This has been done throughout history. "Privateers" are really a small branch of the military tasked with getting rid of the materiel used in war. As Ares (i think) said, Brits used them against the Spaniards, the US tried it in a round-about way by destroying bridges and roads in every modern war. And if you found a cache of weapons, or any materiel, that you could use in your war effort, you'd use it? of course your enemies would call you "pirates", you're taking their resources as your own. But QCP is taking it for the Bretonian government, maybe not with the outright blessing of Queen Carina (i'm not 100% on QC* politics and RP), but at least with the OK of the government. You're not trying to understand the RP of the QC*, you're just influxing your own opinion that doesn't work. Done lurking, going to play the beta. |
