Mr President,

I'm glad y'all approve of my report, and yes, I do take a certain amount'a pride. After all, a job half-done is not done at all. I'll make it a point to submit future surveys in a similar fashion.

I'd also like to accept your generous offer of acting as head'a department for the time being, so long as it ain't a desk job. I came out'a early retirement to float in the black, not sit in a board room; nice as yours evidently is.

*tips hat*

I'll be waitin' for your paperwork to appear on my screens. In the mean-while, I'll be filling out star charts. Feel free to use my pri'ority channel if you have an official mission for me.

*turns to end transmission*

Oh, an' one more thing, Boss. Seeing as how I'll be flying out of the corporate hanger from now on, I'll need a security pass for my engineer, Mack. He's a Bretonian expat, but don't hold that against 'im. He's been my mechanic an' fusion systems specialist for many a year. He's itching to give that grand 'lil Arrow a once-ov'r.

Drake out.

Drake,

I am pleased to hear your hungry for responsibility. And I can assure you your job leaves plenty of time in the black to do a lot of your paper work, leaving little time required in the office.

As for your request for Mack, I have cleared him for the quarters and the flight decks of Baltimore. I will need to run a security check on him, before granting him access to the rest of the station and to our facility on Pittsburgh. But his current clearance should cover him for the necessities for the time being.

I will drop and line here when I have finalized this months job list. Until then, enjoy the scenery out there Drake. It's a big universe!

John

Mission 19.6.817.002 | "The Cassini Division"

Objective: Locate and assess the status of Foster Base, a DSE Research Platform in the Cassini System, Independant Worlds. Avoid contact with Liberty Rogue Guard and any lawful corporate observers, due to sensitive nature of base location and mission.

[font=Lucida Sans Unicode]MISSION REPORT:
<<ENCRYPTED HOLOVID LINK INITIATED>>
<<WARNING, LOCAL SOURCE TACHYON ROUTER INSECURE, INITIATING EXTRA ENCRYPTION PROTOCOLS>>
<<TARGET>>
DSE Board Room databurst from DSE Foster Base, Outskirts of Cassini System

PREAMBLE -

Mr President, members of the Board, I hope this report finds y'all well *static* and *static* proceeding on schedule. As per our discussion at the Pueblo Docking Wing, Boss, I took the Mustang into Galileo in the hopes of finding an alternate route to Cassini.
After flying a search pattern near the Kusari-side Dark Matter Clouds, I came across two jump holes leading to Kepler and Shikoku, plus the Hacker's local redoubt, Leiden.
*static* on board told me in no uncertain terms that the Rogues were best left alone, and that under no circumstances should I travel straight to Raiden Bend from his base. *chuckles* Of course not, I told him. Perish the thought. *static*

CASSINI SYSTEM -

Cassini is a relatively small system filled with asteroid clusters reminiscent of Hudson or Colorado. The largest field contains not one, but two heavily fortified Rogue bases, one of which is a Shipyard that rivals the Kraut's in Hamburg for size. *static* should also be noted that *static* are defended by destroyer-class vessels with *static* and EMP turrets *static*

http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad130/c...04/screen40.jpg
http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad130/c...04/screen41.jpg

My previous attempted entry from Yukon was repelled by a similar level of firepower in the field I'm sending you a holo of now:

http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad130/c...04/screen43.jpg

*static* asteroid cluster should be considered a NO-FLY ZONE by any and all DSE ships due to numerous local defence platforms and dense particulates which hamper maneuverability.

FOSTER BASE-
The search for Foster Base was a short one, Boss, once I jumped in-system and evaded the local Rogues. The initial charter for the base noted that they were to study a Pulsar-like radio source in the system. Remembering that most binary systems with a collapsed secondary have wide orbits, I oriented the Mustang perpendicular to the system's ecliptic, and burned towards the brightest object my sensors could detect.

http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad130/c...04/screen49.jpg

*static* As you can see, Boss, the station is undamaged, but running dangerously low on supplies. I'd suggest at least TWO Grizzlies full to the struts with oxygen, water & food. If we plan to keep them here in Cassini instead of evacuation, I'd also chuck in a transport load of Opti-chips; their defence grid is running on fumes & prayers.

As for their research, I wouldn't put it over open comms, but from what I've been shown, their data could seriously speed up the Minnesota/Quebec Option, if constructed.

*static* I'll be here for another few hours, helping the station commander sort out their priorities. Whatever you decide to, Boss, do it quick.

Drake out.

Drake,

What a marvellous find! I had heard of rumours of Foster Base since my instating as President here at DSE).

If the crew there need supplying, or replacing, then we need to ensure this happens pronto. And the anomaly under study there is certainly of great interest. I may also know some folk that will be interested in it.

This data will be kept on file and I will use it as intel on preparing a plan for an old school air-drop on the station to keep them in supply. I require you to provide me with a tactical plan to get our supply vessels to Foster and back with minimal losses.

Keep me updated.

John

PREAMBLE -
Howdy Boss, hope this report finds the company well and the profits good. I flew the Mustang out to Kansas, via Magellan today, documenting as I went. I'd already visited the system during the Mustang's shakedown flight, but I went and re-scanned every solar anyway. Y'never know when some planet'll go an' change on ya, usually for the worse. I've embedded a couple of choice surveillance shots for your look-see, but the main datalog is here: SURVEY LOG DATA BUFFER
The datalog covers the entirety of my flight, from Magellan to Texas, via Kansas, Humboldt and Virginia. *snickers* I won't tell the Navy if you don't, Boss. *tips hat*

KANSAS SYSTEM - Liberty Protectorate | Minimal Security Presence

The above image was recorded in the Dodge Asteroid Field, a relatively sizable Trojan Cluster following an elliptical orbit. The damaged and abandoned 'Junction Base' Station wreck floats within the field, along with the jump hole to Magellan. Spaceborne particulates are dense but non-threatening, although I wouldn't take anything larger than a freighter through them in a combat situation.

As you can see, there are three other fields in the system, along with four planets.
Topeka, the gas giant, has a significant gravity well and a small ring system. Rumors speak of wrecked liners and other vessels, which might warrant a salvage expedition or selling the locations to Junkers.
Planet Wichita appears stable enough for terraforming, if significant investment were available. With the ongoing war with Rhineland, I doubt it. The moons of both planets are barren and devoid of anything DSE would be interested in.

As for the other fields, 'Overland Park' to the 'northeast' contains the jump hole to Virginia;
Fig.1 - I half expected a Navy patrol to jump in on me the moment I came within 5K.

And the 'Arkansas' Ice Field to the 'south' has a hole to Humboldt anchored in its eastern reaches;
Fig.2 - Dirty snowballs orbiting a wormhole. This system has also been surveyed.

There also seems to be a Dark Matter cloud even further 'south', possibly acting as a third solar entity in concord with the Binary pair (Kansas-A, a medium Blue star & Kansas-B, a medium Green). If R&D are willing to pay for it, I could be persuaded to collect a few samples of that forbidding black mass, but for the purposes of this survey, I steered well clear of it. The inverse-spectrograph I took of it looked worse than the Grande Negra.
Fig.3 - About as close to a Dark Matter Anomaly as you pay me to get.

The Turtle Creek Nebula, whilst not registering in the Stellar Catalogue, was able to be recorded on sensors, and the interior contains a sizable asteroid field containing mineable quantities of Iridium. Which is good news for any mining operations we plan to sell the co-ordinates to. The Nebula also contains the wreck of a Borderworlds Series fighter by the name of Rattlesnake (it's all in the datalog). While investigating the ships' flight recorder, I noticed my consumables were running dangerously low. Not willing to make the same mistake as the pilot, I headed out of the cloud in search of a base to resupply at. While cruising out of the Nebula, my instruments picked up significant gravitational distortions and heavy tachyon emissions coming roughly 5K from the wreck. I'd suggest following these readings up, Boss. They bear a similarity to the distortions coming off the jumpgate wrecks in Texas.

Fig.4 - Kansas is rather picturesque, dontcha think?

In conclusion, Kansas may be the farthest-flung and least-visited of Liberty's territories, but it contains a number of mysteries, and at least one planet ripe for colonization.

The following is Intel acquired outside Pueblo Station in Colorado while watching for Gate/Trade lane parts.

This is the lead up conversation and gun-cam shots to the release of a large number of civilian, and lawful military pilots. It was suspected this pilot was working for pirates, hence why Myself and Mr. John Doe paid 'special attention' to this pilot, also freeing the lawful pilots in their hold.

URGENT COMMUNIQUE -
Boss, I don't make it a habit to report before a survey is complete, but this warrants serious attention: ENCRYPTED SURVEY LOG DATA BUFFER
The datalog covers the first stage of my Omega Systems survey, and some disturbing guncam footage, RE: our discussion yesterday while taking the Spearfish out for trial runs.

I managed to 'stumble' across a Bret battlegroup stationed off Freeport 1, securing the area. I docked at the freeport, resupplied and paid my respects to their Admiral. Moments later, a wing of RHINELAND fighters and bombers arrived under an apparent flag of truce, and from the unsecured chatter, appeared to be there on the Bret's request. For ceasefire talks.

Moments after recording these, I was politely told to clear the area.

I dunno what this looks like to you, boss, but I'd say the limeys have damn well stabbed Liberty in the back. If this is a warning of things to come, Liberty's back to being the only House in the Rhinewehr's gunsights.

The bounty on Altichire has been raised to high priority - 15 million credits, and is deemed KoS for Deep Space Engineering's escorts.

Smuggling H-Fuel into Liberty went without a catch. It was delivered to contacts on Hamilton station, as I did not want to risk delivering it further into Liberty space without an escort and the reports I had been receiving of Piracy in the area. Military Vehicles needed to be moved, so I took the 996 they had prepared to Battleship Concord in New Hampshire. Prisoners were taken to Sugarland as space was becoming scarce on the Battleship. Due to privacy concerns, the prisoners pictures will not be shown on this channel.
