Although wartime economics are radically different in the sense that state nationalisation can be used as a temporary tool to cut costs (deducting the usual profits from the overall cost of production), and wages can be frozen in / workers can operate on a voluntary basis for the country, only getting paid in food rations etc. further cutting costs whilst maintaining high productivity (propaganda, the love of the nation and the well-being of your home as a driving factor as opposed to wages). We saw both mechanisms during the second world war, mind you.

Fair enough, it was my impression that they were getting a royal arsekicking. In that light the above doesn't apply, as Bret are not that pressed.

No, I am assuming that player actions reflect the general situation of Sirius.

I'm not arguing to have mining go, I'm arguing against this fixation with using the Essex as a scapegoat for more deep-seated problems.

See above. Yes, its only one boat, but for me the stationed battleships around sirius reflect strongholds - the immobile battleships representing a battleforce/battlegroup or something far more powerful that the NPC battleships spawning here and there. For me as a player, the main objective here is to make sure we dont lose mining, whilst on the other hand try and reduce the number of undesirable player actions, and I think to achieve that we have to be somewhat pragmatic. But lets see what happens. Perhaps a simple reduction or Ore prices would be the solution (although that would definitely also be a blow to BMM / Bret. economy).

Nationalization is already a facet of the Bretonian economy.

Mining's back, your point is moot.

But as you know, there are varying degrees of nationalisation. But as long as mining is on, and people act somewhat sensible, I am happy
