OORP "Hanging out" - Venom.HX - 03-07-2008 The radiation field is an interesting idea but it would get annoying to the locals like the police factions ect and eventually you would have npcs blowing up around you and the people starting would get annoyed very fast seeing nothing but a blinking radiation sign as soon as they started. I think the Fine idea for loitering is a good idea to be kept by the police factions in New York. People loiter for too long after a warning, they get fined. They don't pay their fine, they die. They continue to do it, they are a habitual law breaker.:) Cheers. OORP "Hanging out" - MB52 - 03-07-2008 Unfortunately, that would just fuel the fires, of the claims that Liberty is going too far with laws... people will freak out saying their freedoms are being ignored... Bad enough as is, they freak out when you give them a parking ticket (10k?) for blocking the docking rings. Noone seems to understand how dangerous it is when people do that... my liberator go squished between 2 battleships once when undocking... As someone who works in LE in RL I say a fine for loitering is just. I just don't get it though, you would think people are here to play the game not stay in front of a planet for a long time and chat. 99% of the time my chars leave once they undock because they have places to go and things to do. I would support such fines in Liberty. Also if I do have to stay near a planet or something for a while I usually go up on the vertical plane and away from the docking ring, because staying near it is dangerous and annoying. Another thing I have a problem with is people parking their big ships right in front of the mooring fixture. That is very annoying because with that, in order to dock you have a chance of hitting them or the planet. Perhaps a console message saying "Don't stay near the docking ring once you have launched. If you must stay near the planet move far enough away so other launching ships don't hit you." would be appropriate. OORP "Hanging out" - Magoo! - 03-08-2008 Hmm... How about this? OORP "Hanging out": Crete, OORP "Hanging out": New Berlin, OORP "Hanging out": Malta. Yeah, its all the same except people have faction tags attatched. Basically its, "Oh hi, Bob." "Hey Steve." "Hey, Bob... Lucy and I had a fight yesterday." "Man thats awful... What happened?" "Well, it started by... Oh... Wait, a trader. Lets tax him, hold on." -Edit- About the laws, they are going way too far. OOOH, five mill for buying the cheapest ship next to a Starflier. Good one, kids. They're just looking to line their own pockets and keep people away from Manhattan... They probably make half of them up as they go along. RP is more of a hinderence to all of the "Planet Campers", as I call them. I.E. All major factions? Yes... Quite. "Oh, I suppose we really should tax him." "I suppose that could be an offense, 628 AE (I think thats the year-unit?) and 3000 AD ago." OORP "Hanging out" - Jihadjoe - 03-08-2008 Malta isn't too bad actualy, but it is getting worse. I spend a lot of time out there as my RoS chars and I can see a steady decline in the level of rp. I just don't know what to do about it. Ahh well, the thought of alpha going down the same route as Gamma or New York makes me sad. It was such a refuge.... OORP "Hanging out" - El Nino - 03-08-2008 Starting location is serverside right?, how about switching starting location once per month, to kushari, rheinland and bretonia too? Now THAT is a feasible idea. Still maintains atmosphere (which a special start system wouldn't do) but wouldn't hurt things much; provided low level NPCs were provided. Seriously, if a starflea manages to survive a Hessian battlegroup their first day on the server they deserve a medal. It would work beautifully if story requirements were dropped, story is already insanely unbalanced as is (remember fighting Rheinland fleet with 5 fighters? HAHAHA, glhf. I had to cruise a lot, level cap made it impossible... I can do it in a VHF, but a crusader? Glhf dying. That and Tekagi's Base mission; KNF destroyer camps one of the shield generators, like 500m from it. I had to get my entire fighter wing to distract it while I torped it, and got it right on the 10th try.) Seriously, single-player story is broken as all hell, so dropping it won't change much for the worse. I like your idea a lot, and think we should pursue it. Might also conserve server resources, I think that having 10 players in each of 4 places is a lot easier to handle than 40 players in the same place. OORP "Hanging out" - David Grau - 03-08-2008 I remember one mod I played a long time ago. I think it started the player in leeds or NL, I cant remember. But there are other lib systems we could have them start in. Though I am not sure how effective it would be. OORP "Hanging out" - Xing - 03-09-2008 aha put starting position in kusari. Let the silent traders get annoyed once in a while. That'd be good. Oh yes... OORP "Hanging out" - sovereign - 03-09-2008 ' Wrote:aha put starting position in kusari. Sadist. Not that I blame you, but still. |
