one of the few factions that gave me consistently gave me a run for my money in pvp. I'm sure most of you guys will continue hanging around the Tau's, though- just under another name.:)

Wow... Didn't see this coming. Well, I did notice decreased activity around the CR forum but I just figured they'd started using only the official Discovery one.

I don't know what to say... I've been out of CR and Freelancer as a whole for over a year, but I'll always remember my time in Disco and my time in the Colonial Remnant, my first and to this day favorite faction. It had its flaws like any other, but damn it, when it came to the brass tacks, it was awesome.

The rest of the members and I put a lot of work into the player and NPC faction, there was a lot of RP written in and out of the game, a ton of laughs, some disagreements and most certainly barrels of wicked fun, especially when I was a fresh faced nugget who was amazed by the world of Discovery Freelancer, but later as well, to be sure.
I also got annoyed sometimes, especially during the times I led the faction, co-lead it and what not, but that came with the territory.

Frankly, it was totally worth every second of the time I put into the faction and this game and I hope the others feel that way too. I'd also like to say thanks to everyone who was there before me and made the CR experience possible for me, and to everyone who held the line when life didn't let me do it anymore.

I'm sorry it had to come to this and I don't fully understand why it happened, but I'd just like to express my wishes that the NPC faction itself will live on. There's a lot of history to the Colonial Republic and it'd be a damn shame for all of it to go to waste.
If the admins are up for it, I'd like to side with the wishes of the current CR members and say that I too would like the NPC faction to become an open one.

Also, if someone, some time, thinks they have what it takes to take the helm, make a Colonial faction/factions in some form or another and steer the Colonials through the turbulent waters of Discovery, they have my best wishes and my sincere gratitude.

I only really play on and off, but I'll never forget my one real encounter with the Colonial Republic.

2 Gallic fighters near LD-14, harrasing an exile fighter. I turn up on a routine patrol in HMS-Chesham, a Bretonian Gunboat. I notice theres a player with a =CR= tag (Possibly Reaper?)loitering, but I wasnt sure as to their affiliation; could have been a merc for all I knew. I was soon assured of my safety due to the following incident.

Having dispatched the Exile fighter, the Gallic Navy pilots turned their attentions on myself and the =CR= fighter; unfortunately I didnt stand a chance given the size of my ship, the agility of the fighter and bomber combination, and the asteroid field. The Republic pilot asked me if I required assistance, which i gladly accepted.

He engaged, and within 10-30 seconds of him doing so 3 more =CR= pilots showed up, trash talking and warming up their weapons systems. The 4 man flight wing harrased the GRN pilots back to the Edinburgh jump hole, keeping up chatter as they went; my Gunboat couldnt keep up, the best i could do was fire a few warning shots from the main cannon.

After the engagement, they escorted me back to Stokes mining station, where we parted ways. We discussed the engagement, and a couple of other things, i forget as it was some time ago.

That to date was the best RP situation I have experienced on Disco. Cheers guys:)

I'm sorry that you've had to find out about it this way, Swift. However, me, Panzer, Pavel, and Linkus decided that this was the best course of action considering our situation.

I don't really know how you see it, but I decided it's best to kill it now while we're still proud to be in CR, than to wait until we dry out and not even us care about the faction.

Panzer himself got to the point where he simply doesn't care for this game anymore because of all the stuff that hit both him and me as soon as we started up Skype. And that says a lot.

I'll be more than happy to add you to what's left of our chats if you want to.

Yeh, this was worst for Panz as he basically raised us all there. Hell me and Rommie used to fly together in our noob frikkin Vipers back in 2009. As stated, it led to this.

I'm glad that something good is coming of this, at least.
Those that know me knew I've always had a thing against closed factions, and the CR probably bore the brunt of that dislike.

Sad it had to come to you leaving, Rommie, but I had a feeling this is what was to come after you mentioned stuff to Neb.

At the start of 4.86, you guys steal the fantastic IMG shipline and leave IMG with crappy slapped-together ships and a terrible tiny transport.

Then, three months later, you disband.

Hey, at least I can get my ships back.
