There is no such thing as "low-effort" and "high-effort" in volunteer-only projects like Discovery. All staff members, whether they did a single rumour or processed a single player request, already did their contribution in the spare time as their passion for the project allows. Same applies to contributors. There are no metrics for such things if we're not translating it into a high real money value.

"Low-effort" would be doing absolutely nothing and just complaining about the sorry state of X or Y.

Players, factions and Houses can absolutely have their proposals accepted as long as it's in line with canon/balance/systems/plugin stuff, depending on the context. There is no ill will to sabotage players, only our desire to have things on a roleplaying server as close to canon lore and spirit of the setting as possible.

And yet developers deny admin-related things (rephacks) even when they fall inline with established 3 year old lore that hasn't changed via new written lore. It's easy for devs to do what they want, not fix the issue at hand and completely screw over people who put effort into something.

And there is absolutely low and high effort comparisons. Low effort would be reporting a bug, but doesn't mean that it is low impact contribution. So maybe don't try to raise staff as something above regular members, who can also put a lot of effort into playing this game even when they are playing along sorry state of story devs.

Well the funny thing is - in this case, Snak the lib gov and Gallia economic neutrality stands in-game. Player RP is in line with canon rep-hacks as all corporations have always been rephacked neutral- trade is open and possible in practice. Only negative reps are between militaries which is understandable, the will still hold grudges internally for what happened, while Libety openly supplies and trades with Gallia and vice versa on the economic level. This is what the guide to gameplay in-game has told players for years and what is presently in place.

It will be fun to watch if Devs who ignored this for years and had no intention of changing it will go out of their way now to ask admins to change all corp rep-hacks to no docks or hostile only because players played into the existing settings (overseen by the very same Devs) with roleplay Smile

RE: Admin Feedback Thread - Erremnart - 06-12-2023

I am going to repeat what Haste already said - there is no new lore. The only misleading things were missing rephacks that nobody really noticed/forgot about them.

How do I know? I was playing in Gallia as a player when Gallic Union came to be, it was feeling betrayed by all Houses aside from Rheinland, and it closed into itself. It became more xenophobic military dictatorship. The vast majority of the former Enclave personnel was incorporated back into Gallia and they gained seats of power, including nobles. All of this happened ingame and on forums, people were playing according to this and even old gallic govs. It wasn't made up by us a few weeks ago to ruin player-made RP.

That is also why Maquis felt betrayed by the Council as they welcomed back their former foes and joined forces with them, even abandoning all hopes for a true democracy. Nothing happened in Gallia to change this state - if anything, the Blockade by Bretonia, CR and Kusari (player driven) reinforced this xenophobia even further (with exception of Rheinland).

Simply put, Gallic Union =/= Confederate Gallia. Gallic Union is Confederate Gallia + Enclave, and there are a lot of reasons to hate the Enclave as it never really paid for its crimes, especially for Bretonia and Liberty who fought hard against the GRN/GRI and lost a lot of men and ships (+ two full battlegroups thanks to the GRI saboteurs + atrocities like glassing of Leeds and attempted one of New London).

If Liberty wants to be the Sirius policeman, then it should make former gallic criminals pay to the last credit, not befriending them and giving up on any form of compensation for their actions.

Umm Hello? Council joined Confeds who went to bed with duchy, then proceeded to use Council Flagship to gas and murder main Maquis leaderships and destroy the only base in the open they ever built. There was zero change between Confed and Union for OG Maquis themselves. The only change was for the public and Councillards within Confederacy who suddenly realized how much they bent the ideals, for whom compromise with Duchy was acceptable, but compromise with Ex-Enclave in letting them co-lead the Union was way over the line. So they joined the very same Maquis who always had the same stance, now under Maquis flag, under their command as they realized their non-compromising stance might have been right all along, becoming Maquisards themselves.

Look I get the devs - you have your favorite regions and don't care much about others. That goes for both Gallia and Rheinland- you offered a story dev position to a person playing Disco for a couple of months in Rheinland, I get it, lack of manpower etc. But by god, at least when admins ask for some simple nonconsequential perks and minor changes players put a lot of effort and planning into, just say "It's up to you and the players" when you failed to do any work in the region and it changes very little.

Union and Liberty already are trading economically - that's what the guide to play people see in-game - rephacks and laws - say and always said (on top of the huge symbol of the cooperation - the massive IC base in front of New Paris). That you are in story and knew all along and never did anything about it is exactly what I mean. You had all this time to change that, was well aware - and it will be hilarious to watch if you now "fix" the corporate rephacks that never bothered you just because they are now backed by Gov to-Gov player roleplay.

RE: Admin Feedback Thread - Jeuge - 06-12-2023

The fact that Gallia is a "friend" of Liberty is completely stupid, but they've been neutral for at least 2-3 years, it seems to me, because the confederacy of Gallia give neutrality to Liberty and vise-versa.

RE: Admin Feedback Thread - Fab - 07-04-2023

there's a blatant issue regarding the enforcement of rules against exploiting (Rule 5). While rule 5 cites SOME exploits, a large portion of the exploits remain largely unknown to the players and only to the admins. This means that players may inadvertently use exploits without being aware they're using exploits.

Some examples include:
shot desync exploit
and the exploit I just learned about, alt-tabbing that makes players freeze in place in the pov of others

Rule 5 must be updated to include all if not most exploits in order to educate players. It'll make easier to identify and report exploiters and not get players caught by surprise by a sanction or warning.

If I knew about such exploits, I'd have reported these exploiters. And not brushed off those occurrences because I thought they were lag or game jank. Of course, I'm against reporting players that don't know what they're doing is wrong.

RE: Admin Feedback Thread - Czechmate - 07-04-2023

Yes, guys, this has to stop - I've seen many people jump, and I always assumed it was a connection issue - you just HAVE to say what exploits are illegal or people won't stop...and people like me will be oblivious and never report them because they aren't aware they exist.

You can put Bumping into the list, and suicide trading but can't this stuff? why?

EDIT: I must have done it many times myself, tabbing into full screen is a normal habit when enemies come. I also doit every time I want to take direct gyazo screen without prnt scrn workaround...

RE: Admin Feedback Thread - Kauket - 07-04-2023

all the more reason why window mode is superior (it doesnt cause this desync with alt tabbing)
