// Never mind, Vogel edited his post.

She looked up at the man, arching a brow. "Privet, Petrovin. Mind telling me why you're here?"

"To join the ranks of the Revolutionary Army, Comrade Commander," he replied, "I'm a citizen of the Coalition, born and raised on Volgograd. I feel that a transfer from my work station to the military might be desirable; it is my duty to serve the Coalition to the utmost of my ability, which is why I'm here." He set his jaw. "I do not presume to be the ideal revolutionary soldier at this moment, but if it is at all possible to become one then I'm willing to take the associated risks."

Finally. Something familiar with the Coalition. Now to test him...

"Comrade. Do tell me. Why is that you choose now to join the ranks of our soldiers?"

Kostya shrugged slightly. "I'm only nineteen, Comrade Commander. It took time and exposure to certain elements in order to see that perhaps I could serve in a manner different than I have been in the civilian sector. While all jobs are honorable, there is still nothing that can compare to the role of the soldier, who puts his or her life on the line so that every other citizen might live, to undertake those jobs, and someday live in the time we strive for."

Her head inclined towards the left slightly. "Have you had any prior service before you came here? Industry? Agriculture?"

Kostya nodded, making sure to stare her square in the eyes, trying not to be absorbed into them.

I hope they were right when they said my "conviction showed in my eyes", he thought.

"I've been aboard Zvezdny Gorodok for the past year and a half working in the fighter production facility, specifically the assembly and testing division. I've taken part in overseeing the final stages of the construction of the A-twenty-eight-hundreds, the Partisans, and their shakedown flights. To those ends I've been involved in mechanical error checks, electronic error checks, and have occasionally flown a short-range tug in order to recover flawed fighters that didn't make it far from the launch pad, for which I've attained a civilian pilot rating."

"That sounds fascinating," Her lips pursed, "But did you know what you were building those fighters for? What they are really meant to do? Do you know what the Revolutionary Army does?"

He nodded thoughtfully.

"Needless to say I have not been there to have experienced it, to have truly known the sacrifice involved, but if my education serves me correctly the Revolutionary Army is here to not only protect the citizens of the Coalition but work to bring about a sector-wide revolution in Sirius using essentially whatever means necessary. To say nothing of unifying humanity under the banner of the Coalition, and ridding ourselves of the alien menace."

Kostya glanced at her rank insignia.

"You know better than I, Comrade Commander. I'm simply here to understand it to its fullest."

With a nod, Angie pulled forth a communicator from her belt. "Alicia, did they repair the CIC windows?"

"Yes, Angelica," The secretary's voice replied.

The corner of her mouth turned up slightly. "Send in the Harvester."

"Viatcheslav, Angie?"

"Da."

"It will be done."

A few moments later, a lumbering war machine that resembled something from Kusaran science fiction and Coalition engineering opened the door, stepping in. "Greetings, Comrade," The machine spoke in a hollow, metallic voice. Its red eyes focused on Kostya, seeming to glare at him as if he were inferior.

"Viatcheslav, would you care to show this man the CIC?"

"Affirmative, Comrade," The machine's voice seemed to have an edge of glee in it. Without warning, an armored claw of a hand seized the man's neck, hoisting him up and carrying him out of the room, Angie in tow. It lumbered towards the windows of the CIC, newly repaired from its previous violent rampage. Its arm snapped back, then was thrown forward, releasing Kostya who sailed through the glass with enough force to shatter the windows.

He hit the ground and bounced, reeling head over heels until he came to a stop face down. The machine jumped through the newly made hole, pinning the man to the ground with its foot before he could try and move.

Calmly, Angie walked up, humming as she leaned down, looking at the man. Thinking.
