' Wrote:This being my first official complaint (amidst a sea of unofficial griping), I wanted to make sure it was something worth complaining about.

Today on my Rogue (LR-Wolf.Blitzer), I was doing my usual pirate stuff when a Navy official (LN-Catherine.Raven) came upon me. Standard stuff so far. I get a verbal spanking from the LN which is to be expected and then I stand down and ask to turn myself in. I thought a police type character would jump at the chance to lock up a criminal and I was wrong in this case. The first response to my asking to be put away was to the effect of,

"No. Pirate I'm giving you one chance to fly away."

I thought perhaps she had misunderstood and I again agreed to a peaceful surrender when I was replied to with

"I don't negotiate with pirates. You have one more chance to leave."

After a moment she began opening fire on me while my ship remained still. I was really dumbfounded by this kind of behavior from an official Liberty Navy member. This attack provoked me to blow up the trader I had been harassing and then after several other LN allies joined in, I too blew up.

Really, this could have been a great opportunity for a different kind of roleplay for both parties involved, but instead, this member of the LN has become accustomed to just "killing the enemy". As a proud member of the Navy myself, it's disheartening to see violence be preferred to justice when we're to be diplomats above all else. I'm not looking for anyone to get in trouble, but I'd really like to see my fellow navy members keep in mind our primary objectives when dealing with minimal threats.

Lesson learned out of this: Never try using some new, unacustomed RP on obviously uninterested players.

See, the whole point in me shooting at you was your buddy. Your buddy decided not to play nice like you did, starting to open up on a trader instead. Do you expect my character would agree with escorting you to a prison station if your buddy is shooting a trader behind my back ? Hardly.

Point two, the way your character told mine that he wants to be imprisoned, sounded more than ironic.
I think it's a little bit odd if you sit at a lane, more than obviously pirating at that moment and telling me "Arrest me!", I mean come on.

Hmm. I took that poor trader guy as a hostage. I told you that i will blow him up if you open fire on the buddy.
You opened fire. I double checked. He was standing still. He started to repeat fire when his hull was already below 50 percent. So i killed my hostage. Easy.

You should know that we Rogues are not pvp whores :> I didn't expect you will go weapons hot so fast.
But. It's a game. Let's take those remarks just as a light discussion. Ha.

Ah, you're that guy. Yeah see, the reason why I was a little impatient with you two was that I've been telling you to stay away from lanes and bases for a bazillion times lately. Don't expect that my character forgets such facts. You've been warned many times.

Quite a good point from you actually. But it's not that I'm not interested in such roleplay, it's the fact that only -very- few pirates would actually be ready to RP such thing. The reason for that is kinda' simple, since their characters are kind of dependent on my actions.

I'm perfectly fine roleplaying to take someone into custody, it's just the fact most unlawful players are not.

[color=#FFFFFF]The fact is, none of this was to call anyone out on the carpet. It's the fact that factions have become so ingrained in a style of play that now the new norm is:

"Never try using some new, unacustomed RP on obviously uninterested player[s]."

I think that's honestly a piss poor attitude for a community that's supposed to grow and evolve. Maybe I'm taking my griping to the next level and as I said before, I'm not looking for a witch hunt, but that perspective is the anathema of our entire community.

Perhaps things got lost in translation during our scenario, but to say "I see pirates here all the time and I've told you not to go there so I shot you." doesn't make sense when we're trying to turn ourselves in, especially when I showed no desire to hurt you and even told the transport to move along.

I'm not going to over-analyze the scenario and try to prove you "wrong" because no one was really "right" or "wrong". We both played our roles and that's how the event turned out, but I'm just disappointed that we couldn't have tried something new and we just had to play navy man and outlaw.

Instead of following the script, I'm going to keep trying new things and maybe the new norm will be to just play and not worry about conventional roles and following preordained events.

As I said, I have no problem roleplaying an arrest, not at all. I think it just went a little unlucky. Two Barghests on the lane, pirating, one of them being a Rogue I've been telling to stay away from lanes a million times recently. Then the fact that your character was actually ready to be arrested, hardly considerable at this certain moment since everything was a little under tension.

I'm sorry that it went out like it did, lets hope the next encounter will be more fun for both sides.

Just wanted to ask what possessed [LN]-Lucas.Wilder to say "Haters gonna hate" in-game?

Oh, and in before "n00bl3t, you're a Junker", as I am not.

Here's to hoping that not all personal competitions in the [LN] will have to be explained into details to be approved by you.

All I wanted was an explanation how a meme found itself in-game. Got it. (Albeit, in a rather bad tone.)

Thank you.
