RE: Dear Jansen - Sabru - 11-22-2013 * Sabru notices the thread oh... its just supreme judge butthurt. * Sabru goes back to browsing. serious part: i had a go at being an indie nomad back in 4.86. but the repeated attempted gankings drove me off. so any anti-nom butthurt is moot in my opinion. That's not 'an advantage in combat', it's just pure trolling. And I don't buy that noms should be able to gank at will because 'Nomads are supposed to be scary'. First of all, the nomads were scary because there were so many of them - something that was no longer the case after Trent activated the tinker toy and sucked most of them away to...wherever. One nomad was never supposed to be scary. "We're invading your brain" PMs? You realize that's not how nomads work, right? When the Chancellor tried to infest the President, she had to be restrained, and she was conscious the whole time. At least, unless you retconned in that they have Mass Effect Reaper-like powers of suggestion. But the consensus seems to be that we will just wait and see whether you guys abuse this or not. @others, Guys, let's try to avoid turning this thread into a flame war, please. RE: Dear Jansen - Kazinsal - 11-22-2013 @Agmen: it's kinda weird that you and I agree on something... With what's quoted above you basically stated you don't like it bc you can't have it and bc they can have it, you right away classify it as trolling in general for the sole ability they could do so. What a nice approach. Interesting fact. Different grade of gear makes an environment fun. All hail the holy grail of balancing everything equally. RE: Dear Jansen - Treewyrm - 11-22-2013 @Trogdor: Firstly it was never Nomads numbers, in fact it was mentioned several times, and in vanilla too, that their numbers were lower compared to the human population in Sirius by late 700 A.S., hence nomads opting for infiltration/subterfuge approach. Instead nomads were more advanced technologically, thanks to the heritage from their creators, and possessed a number of unique traits, plus it was the first alien specie humans had met. Secondly you seem have no clue about what RP model is used for nomads here, yet you just go on about it. While I could just tell you to go and read disco nomad lore I suspect you wouldn't even bother to read, but go ahead and surprise me. Also Mass Effect had been released later, nomad lore and RP model we use were established before ME. Even nomad harby is older than whole ME series and it was only in ME2 reaper harbinger was introduced. Either funny coincidence or a conspiracy... was someone here working in Bioware? Look, Trog, now you're just making a laughing stock of yourself by talking on the subject you don't know at all. "They have something I don't have"? "I don't like it because I can't have it and they can"? I don't want it; no one should have this. This is a roleplay server, where RP and PVP are supposed to go hand in hand. Being able to uncloak behind someone and double-nova them before they even know what's going on is the opposite of roleplay. Maybe if the server population was in the hundreds or thousands, and we had a bunch of people in every system all the time, this might be okay, but we don't. I also don't care whether their ships are more powerful than ours. If you want to give them extra guns, fine. If you want to give them more armor, bigger shield, bigger powercore, that's all great. Those are advantages, and advantages can be overcome with skill/numbers. Or not. But there is a big difference between what I describe in this paragraph, and the one above it. Correct. That's incredibly cheap. But something that can be solved with internal faction rules as well. As Treewyrm said somewhere in this thread (I think?), some patience would be nice. Let factions try to sort it out. If people can't resist the temptations of using cloaks for 'nefarious purposes' it wouldn't take much more than the removal of some lines from a .ini to undo it all. Edit: Ideally, Cloaks would serve as making Nomads scarier, more dangerous, without giving them a direct PvP advantage. Basically, you see them on the player list, but have no idea where or when they will strike. I wouldn't mind having my Assassin's stats doubled instead of having a cloak, though. RE: Dear Jansen - Divine - 11-22-2013 So you don't like people having the ability to do such a thing. See, I could very well just stab down someone I see on the streets, doesn't mean bc I could do so, I'd do so. And if I'd then there would be severe consequences. And if the Nomad/Wilden players here abuse their ability to do such a thing, then there will be consequences. And I very well understood what you wrote. It's still a load of Mimimi. While Logan is very opinionated on this topic as the OP stems from one of our members being sanction, a Judge didn't start this thread, so tone down with the "judges being butthurt" crap. Its not welcome or warranted. I also find it interesting that while Trog brings up a valid point that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, most of everyone replying here just equated him to being upset certain people get toys. Says a lot about this "community". Should this new tech be regulated to insure it isn't abused? Absolutely. Will factions set up internal regulations to stop or prevent abuse from happening? Most probably will. You'll still end up with those that won't. Certain people will either A. Do it and encourage it, or B. Turn a blind eye to other members of said faction doing it. All this spouting about "Oh, the Khara will regulate their members" is all fine and dandy on paper, and while they might actually do it, they are not the only faction to get it. Just because factions A and B regulate it amongst themselves, does not lead to faction C setting up a similar system. And for Christ sakes, why in the hell is it when someone asks a question, those that don't agree with him end up attacking him? He wanted clarification, not a goddamn lynch mob crying for his blood. tl;dr Stop throwing insults at people when they don't deserve it. If you can't reply without putting words in my mouth for the sake of insulting me, then don't reply at all. This is exactly the kind of thing I requested that you refrain from doing, to avoid further fueling the flames in this thread. Maybe it's time for a lock. |
