AP Manufacturing - Alistev - 11-23-2008 Incoming Message from: Graham Jessop Employee Registration: APM-Capricorn From: New Berlin Destination: Cargo: Shipment Outcome: Message reads: Have arrived at the Oder Shipyard to assume command of the APM-Capricorn. Initial inspection was superb and was quite pleased with the crew during a short shake down cruise and docking at the ring to take on a load of engine components. One pleasant surprise was that the ship ID and IFF have already been set to Interspace Commerce eliminating the need to deadhead to the New York system. The crew had been working almost around the clock to finish builders trials I have docked at New Berlin. I intend to give them a short shore leave then we will proceed to Cambridge. Well I saw that Newark station buys Beryllium so I headed off to sell the cargo and start on the IFF change. I made it to California and docked at that police station before the gate to check on a stablizer that had an odd shimmy. Turned out to be nothing. I launched out to find a Liberty Rogue right in front of me. Now this guy opened fire on me with no word. I sustained major damage that ruptured my cargo hold and spilled all the Beryllium out into space. I managed to get into the station before the power core went nova and destroyed the whole ship. After repairs were done (many thanks to the repair crews that worked non stop for us) I checked the local report and found the area clear. I then made my way to Newark Station to begin the IFF refit. Man New York is a hole of despair. The local police and navy are about useless. I had one of these new Cutter folks along with 2 LPI holed up at Manhattan while Xenos broadcast propaganda over the system comm channel. Also there were smugglers anouncing the fact they were smuggling in the system comms. Then you had the Lane Hacker Phate pirating every trader he could get his hands on. I witness 6. The folks at Newark got my IFF to where they could but it was not good enough. Seems there was a glitch that only the folks at Sheffield could deal with. SO I got out of New York and headed over to Sheffield. They worked on it and got their end fixed, but it was bugged again and I have to stop at Kensington shipping platform to get some work done and possibly Manhattan to get the Liberty Navy to look at it. Should only take a few more days. I still have to purchase the IC ID at this time which I will do when I head to Manhattan to talk with the Navy IFF folks there. My suggestions is we need to find another IC place we can get the IFF worked on. New York is not worth the hassle of going in to. If we can. (And, from what I've seen getting my own ship outfitted, it appears that is their only locations where the technicians are that can actually install the ID as well.) However, we can freely utilize all other IC offices in Rheinland and Bretonia as well for our transponder adjustments. It gives me great pleasure to welcome Captain Alyson Lear aboard to our staff of licensed and qualified pilots. She will be in charge of the APM-Virgo. I had everyone from the bounty hunters, Liberty Navy, Bowex, Orbital Spa and Cruise and Universal involved. After all of that, and making my way back to New York from Leeds. (I had to dodge that Lane hacker Phate in leeds and 2 Xenos in Cali) I had the IC folks install the new dang ID. Spending the night here since there are Phantoms and Xeno's running around New York. God how I just love this system. I'll need to get Gemini steam cleaned after being in New York to get rid of the smell and slime. I need a drink. Message Follows: It's been an eventful day. I finally got all set up in a Behemoth, courtesy of APM Financing and the Rheinland shipwrights. I had called some friends from previous engagements, and managed to round up a pretty decent crew. Not all of them knew each other, and it was a new ship, so our first shipment was definitely a shakedown in the truest sense. I joined up with APM-Capricorn in a convoy, picked up engine components from The Ring, and brought them to Planet Cambridge. Not too much excitement, but we did get a chance to test out the turrets on some Hessians. Nailed one of them, so now I owe the rest of the crew a round of drinks. Not to worry though, those engine components fetched a good price. From there, Picked up H-fuel and headed for the Omega-49 system. What a striking place. It looks almost like the place is surrounded by clouds, like on planets. Must be a great place for sightseers and scientists, if only it weren't so remote. Still, the Zoners there were very friendly, and courtesy of their outfitters, we got some new sensors installed. From there, APM-Capricorn and I picked up Deuterium from Planet Gran Canaria, and headed for the Shikoku system and Deshima Station. As we left, we passed a pair of Bretonian naval pilots who were making a patrol of the area. We exchanged greetings and bid them good day. Soon afterwards, we ran into some decidedly unfriendly people. A pair of Lane Hackers in gunboats, far from any lanes to hack, engaged us. APM-Capricorn stayed behind to delay them, while I made a run for it. One of the Hackers followed me, but he was too far behind to catch me, and I safely made it through the jump hole to Dublin, and docked with the Battleship Hood. While there, deciding to play it safe, we took a break for several hours. The chief engineer (really the only engineer) and i took a look at several issues with the ship, managed to fix a few of them, but others would have to wait until more substantial shipyard facilities were available. After what we thought was a safe amount of time, we undocked and headed on our way again. It wasn't long before another hostile contact was spotted on sensors. We made a run for it again, this time through the jump hole to Leeds. Safely made it, landed on Stokes. From there, we headed to the Tau-31 system and docked with Holman Outpost for a short time. Spotted the hostile contact again, but discovered that it was a freighter affiliated with the Liberty Rogues. What that ship was doing out here is as mystifying as the Lane Hacker duo we encountered earlier. We spent a little more time on Holman, then headed for the Tau-29 system. Witnessed some naval action between Kusari and Bretonian forces, stayed safely away however. Went through the gate, headed for Freeport 6, and wouldn't you know it, same hostile contact. This time, he initiated communications, identified himself as "The Giver" and asked for money. Said he was looking out for "the low man on the pole" which I took to mean my crew and I. I politely declined, and enlisted the help of my crew in taking a look at the #3 engine, which had been showing some unusual performance fluctuations. Just had a very good offer from the Zoners onboard Freeport 6 for the Deuterium in my hold, but I declined. I have a plan and I'm sticking to it. Will attempt to fix the problem with the #3 engine, then continue on to Deshima station. Hope APM-Capricorn is doing OK, I lost contact with him a while ago. I got about half way from New York to New Berlin when the whole port side engines started to glitch. Carl took a look and saw that the power conduits were starting to fry. Must have been residual damage that we missed from that rogue attack. So we limped into the Ring and wait while we get the new conduits installed. Took a look at the other engines and headed off the same problem. Hopefully there won't be any more surprises in this form. Left Freeport 6 and had an uneventful run to Deshima station. Offloaded the Deuterium there, which was a big relief. All that valuable cargo... From there, we picked up a load of optronics and headed for Cambridge. Another uneventful trip: no fighting, no ship troubles, nothing but nice smooth flying. Offloaded the optronics at Cambridge, and got a good look at the research facility there too. No wonder they pay so well for optronics, they've got massive computer banks there. Left Cambridge with an empty hold for a short hop to Cardiff, where we loaded up with beryllium and headed for The Ring. On our way there, while in the trade lane, our sensors picked up a bunch of Corsairs, not good news. We took the jump gate into Omega 3, and some Corsairs followed us. We quickly docked with Freeport 1, and we're taking a break now, waiting out those hostiles. After delivering the beryllium, I managed to pick up a Train from Oder Shipyard, which should give more profit per run than the old Percheron (and be more difficult to attack). Transmission Ends |
