Zoners are a diverse group of individuals, but just because they have differences doesn't mean they lack the ability to collaborate with each other. "Since I am not encountering marduks ALL the time, therefore I don't need to be prepared for that ONE time in which I (and the 999 colonists with me) get murdered and DIE. After all it's just a video game and I can wait 2 hours then hit respawn, rite?" In general, I think this server has to decide right ****ing now how much of RP or gameplay it wants, because with all the inrply illogical balancing going on, you'd think the server would be more of a "relaxed rp" in which the logicality in Zoners becoming a powerful faction does not have to be questioned. On the other hand, if the server is a hardcore RP server then imo all stats should be decided according to RP logic instead of balancing, and an emphasis on shield power over hull strength, and really a general fear of death of which players seem to lack. And the fear of death thing would make it imperative for zoners to have ships with far higher survivability than an oversized transport can ever hope to achieve. Am I supposed to read all this? Since I didn't, I'm just going to reply with this: Code: Ames Research Station Zoner population in vanilla Freelancer: 4,250 Doesn't sound like a society capable of building gigantic capital ships to me. It's also safe to assume that there aren't multiples of that number floating around in space. They're classified as Zoners because of their lifestyle. As such, you can't go and make claims like "There are thousands living on Planet Manhattan too!" because those wouldn't be Zoners. Can't people just accept that the Zoners were a really minor faction in Freelancer once upon a time, and that they were horribly bloated by Discovery? Any step towards a smaller, more sensible Zoner faction is a step in the right direction. RE: Super Long Megapost First post working version. - Divine - 02-25-2014 Needs more Bundschuh Turtle fleet. RE: Super Long Megapost First post working version. - Major_Mayhem - 02-25-2014 I'm not going to bother. Admins agree that infocards are outdated, using them for reference is null and void. Yet, you can argue about a ton of things and I'm not in the mood for that. What you can't argue with, is, that this change retconns 8 years of Zoner RP. The RP of TAZ, Phoenix and OSI would have to change so drastically, that all that would remain from these factions would be their name. Basically, it would render every thing that we, the Zoner community, have RPd with and RPd for completely and utterly useless. RE: Super Long Megapost First post working version. - t0l - 02-25-2014 Hehe. Freeport 7 Population: )) Huehuehuehuehue. RE: Super Long Megapost First post working version. - Sath - 02-25-2014 With as many as 3 official Zoner factions, you cannot really call them small OORPly or neither would this step towards a more sensible, nerfed Zoner faction would befit in here.Consider the activities and all the years of RP that they have put in,and the Zoners have contributed to many things in this server, from good to bad,but everything was fun. Taking a hit at these 3 factions, with one of the faction, hitting up 3rd positionin terms of activity last month,is definitely doing more harm than good.Yes,you can see me as a non-RP cunt, bragging where I should not be,but if you want to see everything in that RP sense and lore sense, sorry, the world is much better if this is still present in the same controlled or balanced state, between RP and fun,as it is now. And no, it's not pointless to reference vanilla Freelancer infocards: today's Discovery universe is supposed to be a continuation of the vanilla one. As such, the Zoner population of today should "make sense" if we assume that it was approximately 4-5,000 20 years ago. It took 800 years to get to that number. Now, to do you a favor I'll assume that the Nomad War caused a massive increase in Zoner population in 20 years: It DOUBLED! Now it's 10,000! Still doesn't quite explain Zoner capitals, does it? By the way, from your own faction page, OSI guy: Quote:Technology Use If you don't use them, how exactly can their repurposing be so harmful for your faction? |
