There's no way all these bases are blowing up one after another due to simple "neglect."

hmm, ... don't know.
A friend told me about destruction of a base of "Warriors of light" (don't remember the exact name) in Omicron Alpha (was a core4-base). A few seconds after green destruction notice there were only 2 chars in this system and only one was rank 80+ (the other >40).

looks like there were no 10 BS needed to destroy a core4-base...
of corse we don't know about MOX or repair-commodities in stock of this base, but there was also nothing mentioned in the attack-declaration-thread...

weird....

This is with 72 Bases left.

Since I posted the above quote we are now down to 70 Bases.

Neither of the two mentioned above have been destroyed and they are now at 100% Health.

At the time of writing this post only the Sentinels - Upper Sphere Constructor Base is less than 100% (98%).

Killing spree is going on; Falster was the last victim I saw. It happened right after server restart, maybe the hacker gets in during a restart?

Addendum: I docked on a PoB myself right after the base was killed, and the base's inventory was bugged (stuttering sound and slow mouse movement) somehow. Maybe they get into the plugin itself?

no, that's how PoBs have always been. The equipment screen especially.

It's unknown as to why.

To those that are always complaining that the Bases are the main cause of the Lag:-
Now that we have lost approximately 25% of the Bases, has the Lag problem reduced?

To the Admins we have lost another 2 Bases in the last 5 hours:-
Are they going to be turned off?
If not, are they going to be restored when the problem is resolved?
If they are going to be restored will that involve a roll back?

A definitive answer would be appreciated as we are now down to 68 Bases.

i was docked on it, i thought that when a base gets attacked and destroyed, your 100k from it

i was 25k

please admins just turn off bases for now

Yeah, we should have stopped at 69.

Jokes aside, it is odd that bases are just disappearing, since the overall server activity wasn't large enough for someone to just roll out the necessary amount of caps to down a supplied base.
