Well that's swell but how do you propose that could be done?

For a weapon to be effective at long ranges in the Freelancer game, it needs high velocity to be able to actually hit.

If it has high velocity, it will be effective against snubs as an insta-weapon, no matter how low the refire.

You fix this by making the turret rotate slowly so that it can't track fast-moving snubs like bombers.

It doesn't work that easily. Most weapons have a rather wide "cone" they can shoot in without the turret itself moving even a bit. In that cone they seem to have infinite tracking speed. So even with a very low rotation speed, hitting small ships is easy - you just wait for them to pass approximately in front of the guns. Or just leisurely aim at furballs from few Ks.
I don't know if that "cone" can be made narrower.
Another option is using the "force_gun_ori" option. It entirely removes the fast auto-tracking ability and the turret would fire exactly where it's barrel is pointed. It's used in SNACs, GB forward guns, Zappers and the old Shock Rays.

Seems legit, for a long-range sniper type weapon.

Enough of a reason for me to leave them. We needn't have longer cap fights.

But caps are meant to fight long and not die in seconds :|

I think the Primaries should be rebalanced and Cerberus house based (Different DPS/Projectile speed, ect) making them an auxiliary weapon as opposed to the main gun against caps. I find Cerberus too generic and agree to something being done about it.

+1 to house based Cerbs, with their own stats and different dmg types like House Primaries.

Why not making just unique long range forward gun for every BS which uses damn much energy...and takes much time for cooldown...

So how is this, are House Cerberus Turrets actually a fine idea?

RE: Removal of Cerberus Turrets or Replacement? - Wesker - 04-12-2015

Make different color projectiles with same speed refire rate, energy usage, and damage as cerbs for each house. Im happy but if you replace them completely with new guns for each house than fights will be stupid because Dev bias will replace cerbs in gallia or liberty with something totally OP Cuz honhonhon gallia is God. And make Bret ones and rheinland ones terrible. Just my opinion given the storyline and which houses are more powerful. Having cerbs for all is a good thing please don't change it.
