I have to admit I'm not really pleased about this. For better or worse, justified or unjustified, CR has a big stigma attatched to (Dev bias, import faction etc) it for a variety of reasons and will always be the underdog in it's match ups. Heck, even I have my disagreements about CR and would be more inclined to fly Outcast rather than a CR ship. To make this example relatable, the same thing could happen with HF. Non-vanilla factions tend to be viewed with scrutiny, to varying degrees depending on the faction. Let's not beat around the bush and act like we haven't seen people rejoicing at the chance to inflict impactful damage to CR. I just don't feel like putting the outcome entirely in the hands of the community is the right mentality. You're just putting power in the hands of the mob and in actuality, this will encourage cliquelancer. I definitely want players to impact things more, but we need to be careful when maintaining the extent of that. If people are raising concerns about fairness and balance, it's worth an investigation so that we can ensure everyone has fun. Jokes aside, it's an event that generates pew and that allows players to write some lore. A good plus. It uses a cancer mechanic since day one though (PoB's). Soo... Yeah. Not touching this with a seven foot pole. Anything relating to pobs always bring out the worse in people. Suggest a different avenue of approach, although I know it's very hard to put out a decent and balanced event that can do that. <3 RE: [Official Event] Operation Cathedral - Thexare - 11-06-2018 (11-06-2018, 02:09 PM)Jansen Wrote: For the next time it might be beneficial if you actually test changes on another server before using players as test objects, which has a rather high potential for frustration. Alternatively, simply get back to the kill or cargo counters for events, its more fun, its more reliable and it will also make progress more transparent. There's merit to using the live playerbase to test changes - namely, it's larger, and sieges are very much a group thing for higher-Core bases. But if it's still in a phase reasonably described as "testing", it's not ready for permanent impact. This way, you have people checking for reasonable positions (no OC pob in majority Corsair controlled space etc.). PoBs are great if they are used in events not as lynchpin but maybe as additional docking points or to make the ingame environment feel more dynamic. However, everything else regarding it has and will always be negative. I like the idea of the event, though. It is dynamic and you can't deny that people did log for it. I always felt they should only be placed near planet like solar objects. But that's my non-popular opinion. But let's not derail. How's the status of both pobs?
