Well phantoms have roughly 20% better guns, check the stats... and nice unique 666 speed:D... could we come up with some stats right now for their 4.0 refire and 2.0 refire... Right now they have 600 dmg for 125 energy and 1250 for 230 energy... shield buster has 595 for some little energy... 120 i believe.

This is what they have, Now that is far superior to what anyone else has, and that is about 10% more efficiency for a bit more speed. Essentialy Krakens wich are best, get 50 damage less, and 2.0 have 200 more damage than house plasmas... Pretty spectacular in any case.

This poll is the most one-sided one I've seen outside the ones to approve potential Admins.

The question is: Will the result actually matter, or will the dev team make up their own minds irregardless of the community's opinion?

Edit: Way too many 'ones' in the first sentence... But I don't feel like rewriting it.

Althought I voted 5% I still think that it should be 0 or slightly better. There is no need in RP server to win every fight.

Like someone pointed out the Phantoms pack really good pilots and them being outnumber and still being able to pull off stuff they do will just make their aura grow bigger.

Increasing weapon enfficiency etc. in favor of one group will just lead to half-baked excuses to use their weps or even make people flock to their cause because of the hw they can have instead of RP opportunities they present. I'm afraid it just makes people try to join up with wrong motives.

Curious that.

Anyway, RC and slippy aren't awesome, they are good. Armour buff to survive longer, powerplant buff to shoot longer, agility change to confuse the heck out of everyone, including Phantoms. (I still haven't learnt to fly mine)

Phantom guns, made by Kuraine, re-balanced, and rightly so, by the Dev Team. (In their initial form they were massively overpowered)

Huntress, nobody asked for that, not one of us, it got foisted on us. Nothing has changed about that since 4.84 as far as I'm aware, ergo it likely will not get used at all.

Phantoms asked for the RC and Slippy to come back home to the Revenant, and for some guns to stop people whining about us using other folks. We duly got them, stats were not decided by us, they were not asked for by us, we have, in fact, had almost nothing to do with how they are balanced.

I'm for a 0% improvement over what they are already. Not to say I like what we have, I prefer my old kit, but we have what we asked for now it is time to lump it.

Also we'd like the following. Phantom Bomber (So we don't have to use the fatcat) Class 7 shield busters and Class 8 Lamia's.

Reasons: Can't kit out the slippy without using other faction kit. Fatcat is a BW ship and we'll likely get blasted for using it shortly.


There is only ONE Catamaran in the Phantoms and given the level of sour grapes it has engendered I shall be recommending to anyone that asks that they suit up into a Fatcat and like it.

Excellent PvPers... Ask Joe how good I am. Ask Joe how good Hoodlum is. We ain't spectacular pilots, some are, but most of our truly awesome pilots lost their razor edge a while back. Or they've wandered off never to be seen again. Our platform is RP, it has to be. Never yet ripped open a trader without saying something about eating him, his wife or his family first, don't intend to start.

So with this in mind I vote for no further increase in Phantom stuff. It isn't necessary, what we have is quite good enough.

And finally no Phantoms asked for further increases, or if they did I'm going to ask Hoodlum to beat them repeatedly and at length.

Well, the thread is actually about how far superior Phantom guns should be, not how superior they should be compared to what they are now (which is about 20% better than 'normal' guns, according to Jure). Most people seem to think that they shouldn't be much, if any, better than anyone else's guns.

Well it's not about increasing, it's about reducing actually, I figure having a 10% edge over krakens is pretty awesome, that's what's there right now, and ships itself are the best easily...

Huntress was upgraded beyond reproach, BC powerplant wide turret cover, great armor b/b... You will find it is now a good ship. Probably the best cruiser to solo a battleship in it...

Lvl 8 and 7 guns, thou are missing yes, I guess you could mount 650 speed debs on them... or boosting LF and VHF to have the minimum of lvl 9 hardpoints.. so you can just mount great guns and be done with it.. If those guns were properly balanced that would be enough of an advantage...

In any case I apologize for any offensive tone I might've taken on while saying my piece.

I also want to point out that my gripes aren't aimed specifically at Phantoms or any other solitary faction, but at the "I stole a Kusari bomber and made friends with Corsairs and Nomads which explains my Catamaran with Nomad guns and Coladas" special RP requests we all get irritated with seeing. Phantoms, again, aren't the enemy here. It's the whole mentality of favoring a particular faction to the point of viewing all other factions as strawman floating targets who shouldn't deserve a fighting chance. Players on all sides and all factions suffer this to an extent, wanting their own kit boosted and denouncing enhancements to others who 'don't need it'.

My experience in this is that Junkers get it a lot. Both from the powergaming standpoint due to pirate faction connections (my chief source of headaches with running this faction is putting up with the whining when I tell Congress players they can't mount Del Cids) and the players who believe Junkers should all be in CSVs and be defenseless when combat situations arise, as we're 'not a combat faction'.

If what Del says of the Phantoms is what we'll see, rather than the 'randomly park in Sigma-13 and murder diamond trains' ploy, then I'll want to see more of them. I want to exchange bloodthirsty banter about tearing out organs, and what happens to those pirates and bounty hunters whose pods are picked up after attacking Junkers at Yanagi. I want my Rheinlander Bounty Hunter to die with his guns blazing and earn his passage to Valhalla at the hands of a superior foe. Done right, an army of transhumanist psychopaths with ultra-specialized death machines is great to have around. Done wrong, and it's going to be viewed as being spared from the sanction boards only due to the members of the faction. But the faction members are aware of the standard they're held to.

Phantoms aren't the issue here, despite my half-stating so earlier. It's the whole angry attitude. I don't know if better guns (more guns are a given, gotta fill those holes) will be worth the player headache, or even if they'll do much to further Phantom RP. If they hit a bit harder than the average gun, fine. Leave it that way and work on filling the cracks rather than do something to generate more bandwidth wasted on whining.

Final random note: I got in a scrum with Nightsmoke in New Berlin a week or two ago and I had fun. Bugger mined my Manta. :P

Absolute final note: This thread needs a lock and people need to go for a walk. The server's not having a good day so it's a good time to do so.

That would be what ? ~ 100 more damage per gun ?

Ships - I -think- they're already "superior" to others.


Does say that Phantoms are superior to the others when you click "Phantoms" on your rep sheet.
