RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Traudel Habermeyer - 01-10-2023 Traudel appeared to have similar thoughts to Nina by the looks of it, her attention clearly on the food. More precisely the meat that was subject of their conversation in mulitple ways at the same time. Leaning back a bit in her chair to create more distance between it and herself, while eyeing it somewhat indecisive. Herzsprung on the other hand smiled or sneered. Hard to tell. "So quick to dismiss an invitation for some civility. Go ahead, Oberleutnant." Staring Traudel down for a brief moment. "Serve the food and partake. Our exotic guest may choose to follow suit at a later stage." Visibly uneasy Traudel ensures to get a serving of everything on both Herzsprung's plate first and then her own, picking up knife and fork afterwards only to awkwardly wait again for whatever might follow next. The admiral finally sat down, no longer the only one standing. By how it appeared not the most comfortable process, being forced upright no matter what due to her medical corset.
"When there is little to go around, every bit of sustenance becomes a feast. I wonder if that time of yours, constantly running out right now, will lead to the last moments with me being viewed as a blissful gathering, too." Traudel nearly dropped her fork hearing that, fumbles and manages to catch it again only to clear her throat in embarassment. Herzsprung scoffed in amusement. "Knowing what we consume often alters it's taste. Going so far as to spoil our appetite entirely. Give someone that claims to be well versed in such matters a cheap wine and an expensive one, lie to them about which is which ... and see how their perception starts to differ from reality. This ... my dear guest ... is what you are here for." Remaining eye centers on the device she carried. "I have the reports linked to you right here. That and the surveillance recordings from your time on the Ostkantone. We three will enjoy a meal and we will learn whether or not i will lose my appetite for dessert." Looking up and across the table again, this time at Nina. "If there is anything you wish to confess - the time is now. For i am an avid reader and listener. And i so hate to find out about feeble attempts at hiding something." RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 01-10-2023 Again, Nina Rodriguez did not move a finger to get the fork. Even if Traudel did, at the corner of her vision, she did not follow. Staring at the meat, she listened to the admiral trying to not lose a word of her words. After Herzsprung finished to tell what she needed to say, a moment of awkward silence lay in the room. Seeing that everyone had started to attack their meal, unconsciously, Nina grabbed the fork and started eating as well. One bite in the meat. It tasted like beef. ''Was she trying to destabilize me?'' Unsure, she still eats in silence. After a second bite, she cleared her throat. Before saying anything, she thought twice about what to say. ''Traudel, do I say everything? Even our relationship? If I say everything, do you think I will leave sooner? Will you forgive me?'' It was hard to get an answer at this moment in the company of Herzsprung. On the other hand, she did not want to expose Traudel. It was hard and it finished appearing on the corsair's face. She sighed. ''I- The first time I arrived in Rheinland, I fell on a military. We exchanged words and we began to buid a some kind of mutual respect between us. With the following days, I attacked the same pilot and for the first time, when her ship was on fire, I had pity. I stopped firing and let the pilot leave. The other day, I offered to the pilot some flight lessons and she accepted my offer. It was hard to find proper moments but when we could see each other, we did... We also ended up to be... closer.'' After saying this, she did not look at Traudel. But she hoped that she said enough to not expose her. RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Traudel Habermeyer - 01-10-2023 In contrast to almost any other given moment, Traudel kept quiet. No chipper commentary, no lighthearted joking and not even her trademark smile. Only dread reigned supreme as the situation unfolded right before her, literally and figuratively sitting between both other persons in the office. Eating and having difficulty swallowing the food. The meat was indeed just that - beef. Something Traudel had yet to try, as she kept mainly to the vegetables for the time being. As Nina began to talk, she slowed down considerably and shifted around in her seat for a brief period of time. Perhaps the inner turmoil of the Corsair was all too familiar to herself right now.
Herzsprung on the other hand was most keen on following each tiny reaction, movement and frown she could witness in both guests. Nina's words allowed at least Traudel room to breathe, as merciless focus was shifted entirely on the Corsair now. "Taking pity on some of mine? Developing mutual respect and receiving flight lessons? Being ... " A pause, as prongs of a fork pierce a piece of meat and a sharp edge cuts right through it. In a meticulous motion it is brought close to malformed lips, only to then be consumed. "... close?" With a napkin the admiral removes some food and gravy that escaped from the corner of her mouth, displeased about something. Maybe just the unavoidable little mess her disfigurement causes during basic tasks like eating. "Fascinating take. And damning weight on that pilot's career to some. I wonder as to why you'd do such a thing, Nina Rodriguez. Aren't our fleets a constant and evergrowing thorn in the Corsair's side? Our people, after all, share a bloody history. Who in their right mind would consider this a sound approach?" One hand flicked through reports, attention shifting between those and her guests. RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 01-10-2023 She stopped focusing on eating but instead she just anwser the best she can. She already knew that approach was already unbelieveable but it happened. ''I keep my words to not expose the pilot. I don't want her to be doomed by me. However, I do agree that it would be bad seen but it happened. Don't ask me why. I don't know the answer myself. The good news is that the pilot developed greater skills than your average pilots and I am more pleased with that fact than simply raiding for fun.'' She paused becaue she had nothing more to say. RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Traudel Habermeyer - 01-10-2023 Traudel kept herself very very busy with poking a piece of potatoe. Or maybe her brain had stopped working properly from internal stress.
"The pilot is a woman then. You do not want to expose said pilot and doom ... her ... by your actions?" Again Traudel is stared down with ruthless interest, no doubt thanks to being exactly that. A woman. The pressure of being stared at leads to an oversized piece of potatoe being gulped down a bit too quick. "Then why have you done what you did? Ja, ja i know what you said just now. The answer eludes yourself. Not only does it do that, it also contradicts your goal to not doom that particular pilot. Unless of course ... this wish to not let it happen developed over time. Mhhhrm. How far would you be willing to go to not cause harm to that oh so valuable person?" Herzsprung continued reading the reports about Nina, slightly narrows her eye and looks up again. "And to think royalty would refuse a dinner. Oberleutnant, you could have informed me ahead of time we'd be having the Crimson Queen over. No matter, it is what it is." As Traudel's name was spoken, she coughs a little and grabs a nearby drink to keep herself occupied. "The fruit of your labor has been ... what then to you? A more competent adversary in form of that specific pilot you trained with? If you put more emphasis on a single soldier instead of pillaging in general this must have considerable meaning to you in one way or the other." RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 01-11-2023 ''I do not eat because I do not have the appetite to eat anything. Especially being captive. And to answer to your question, I am ready to go far enough to not harm this person. Even if she is on the opposite side, she will be under my protection. In fact, I will stop talking about this because we are going nowhere but only getting my profile.'' The corsair began to be irritated and then starts eating with vigor and finished her plate in less then ten minutes. She tried to waste her irritation by eating but it didn't work. She did not mention the name of the pilot and she hoped to not have to do it. The pilot in question was there, Traudel Habermeyer. With a quick look at the woman in question, Nina noticed she was not comfortable. Perhaps did she talk to much? She closed her eyes a moment. She had a thought for the woman. ''Try to not be afffected by what I say or this granny! If only I could talk to you right now ensuring you.'' RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Traudel Habermeyer - 01-12-2023 Herzsprung's demeanor changed, from sickeningly artificial hospitality to plain bluntness. "Would you rather not be captive, but dead instead? That can be arranged quite easily. Who am i to deny a guest's wish?" Almost like this never took place, a cold and empty smile returns to pronounce wrinkled facial features even more. "For not having had an appetite you ate well - i am pleased. It always is a shame to waste good food, don't you agree?"
Traudel gripped her her fork tighter, knuckles turning white. Moving her head to look away from the admiral and towards Nina, expression a silent yell for being way out of her comfort zone. Care and worry still ever-present, one could only guess what went on in her mind. Thanks to internal stress of untold magnitudes, the poor soul began to sweat eventually. Shakily a napkin is used to wipe her forehead. Meanwhile Herzsprung paid more attention to the surveillance recording of the Ostkantone's holding cell. "Under your ... protection? That is quite far, truly. And what i am seeing here..." The old hag continued to watch the screen instead of both. Either not paying them all that much attention anymore by being distracted, or by feeling she did not need to any longer. "... is unbelievably captivating. So much so i am tempted to draw some conclusions of my own. Now why, i wonder, would one of the most peaceful soldiers i have seen in a long time go out of her way to get prisoners shot..." Looking up again, Traudel received a sinister stare from Herzsprung. "If our exotic guest is no longer willing to talk about it, we two will have to make do Oberleutnant. Tell me, why are you so nervous? So on edge here. So suspiciously keen o-... " Traudel gave Nina one quick look while her superior talked, one of regret. Then she lost it. Taking a deep breath before talking back to her sadistic host. "Genug! Enough! I'll t-..." One word instantly cut through the air like the crack of a whip. "Silence!" Shutting down Traudel's entire attempt with nearly no effort whatsoever. That abrupt outburst was followed by the very same deafening lack of any real noise first witnessed aboard the Ostkantone. Broken only thanks to disturbingly calm words in contrast. "Nina... make good on your word now. Go the extra mile, don't harm her. Protect her. Tell me ... how you intend to do that." RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 01-13-2023 She frowns. ''She is seeking me. She wants me to be pushed to my limits and forces me to attack her. By doing so, she will obtain a good reason to shoot me down... Damn you!'' She boiled and her eyes clearly showed to the old woman pure hostility and cruelty. Traudel knew Nina but not this part. The corsair began to see red but only had Herzsprung before her. The presence of Traudel was gone. Her right hand formed a fist and she smashed it on the table to get the attention of everyone within the room. The crimson haired woman stood up and by doing so, the chair was violently pushed to the ground. She walked to Traudel whispering something. ''Take some distance...'' Her voice was empty of emotion but she could guess it would be safer to do what Nina said. Even if she was paralyzed due of the stress and the fear of Herzsprung, Traudel slowly backed off. ''Herzsprung.'' As she called out the admiral, a sadic smile appeared on Nina's lips. ''Gracias for this diner, really. I ate well as you said. However, this is the end of it. You are the worse person I have encounter and...'' She cut her sentence and now looks at Traudel. ''This woman...'' She now looks at the old woman. ''is out of this. You told her why she was nervous. I will tell you why. You see, you are keeping me here, in this room and I asked to go away. Now, I am tired of this place. I will take my leaves and you will let this happen because it will end badly for you.'' RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Traudel Habermeyer - 01-13-2023 Nina's eyes found themselves locked with Herzsprung's. In contrast to most, this one sought the confrontation and did not shy away from it. Enjoying it openly. As fist hits table and Traudel moved away, Herzsprung's eye followed her reluctantly for a short moment. This meant to stop the staring contest with a Corsair, after all! The expression alone said it all though, this was the last piece the old trout wanted. Slowly raising her chin, malformed smile or sneer growing bigger. Licking her lips as the situation began to escalate even more and focus shifted back to the redhead.
"Such wonderful fire, ja! Delicious passion for bloodshed. I can smell your smoldering defiance has turned into blazing desire to eviscerate me!" A slow moan, eye closing halfway. "... exhilarating ..." Instead of getting up, drawing her weapon or even calling in soldiers the admiral remains seated. Leaning back and gently tossing the device she used to read and review reports and recordings onto the table. It collides with her own plate, clanking a little. Traudel keeps her distance, watching on in sheer shock and inability to do anything worthwhile. Her own hand stopping halfway towards going for her sidearm. "You go out there, you die. You strike me down, you will die and she'll face the consequences of this entire farce all alone. Your temper is a desirable attribute, the lack of control tied to it is not. But you have shown me what i wanted to see. Be it for the Oberleutnant or your own sake, you struggled to restrain what always wishes to be unleashed as quickly as possible. We can work with that... " Confusion spreads across Traudel's face, hand slowly creating more distance to her holster again. "Bad for me is of no relevance. I am but one of many, my suffering won't change a single bit of this dilemma both of you are in. If anything it'll only make it so much worse. So - once more - make good on your word. You wish to protect her? Your solution sits right here. I have a use for you, Crimson Queen. You showed me there slumbers a beast within, just as i wanted you to. Now prove it is more than a rabid cur and knows when to back down. Such is expected from regal predators, after all. Mind and might in one." RE: Hard decisions and hard time - Elvinos2003 - 01-13-2023 The corsair was close to the admiral. She was about to punch her as hard as she would like. ''You are pathetic.'' That thought changed her mind. Instead of punching the woman, Nina simply walked away, grabbed the chair on which she was seated on and to evacuate the boiling rage within her, she simply kicked the chair to the table. She rubbed her head with her hands with vigor. ''You are disgusting old woman. One day I will kill you and that's a promise of a corsair. Keep this promise deep in your old brain. I hope you have planned a better outcome to this diner because right now, you are stuck with a bomb ready to explode at you.'' |
