Pirating is ruining my game experience - Rudo - 01-02-2010

Am I the only one that finds great joy in a guy calling himself Robin Hood being angry with getting robbed over and over?

well, at least I have found one guy who doesnt get the reference.
Quote:Either way, limit to piracy is up to admins, if you feel you have been wronged, feel free to take a picture and send it as a report to them.
i really wonder why the admins havent made a pratchet-like system for pirating up to now... obviously this topic has arised bevore.

anyone knows the discworld thief-guild? they leave a quittance after robbing someone so that a person hasnt to suffer more than a certain contingent of robberys in a certain amount of time.

there are those sirus credit cards. it cant be too hard to make something like "sirius-this- guy- has- been- pirated- cards", available for pirates, who give it to their victim after robbing him.. make them either perishable so that the person is save for a certain amount of time, or set a limit (lets say... 5 or 6 of those cards), so that 4 or 5 other pirates come into the joy of being allowed to pirate this trader /miner too. so, when he has 5 or 6 of those cards pirates will not rob him anymore, until the trader/miner has started a new run.

now THAT would be an idea. I mean, from my point of fiew far better than the "advices" give to me up to now.

If a rule was introduced limiting piracy to, say, ten million credits, you are guaranteed that everyone would pirate for ten million credits. If we said the limit was twenty million, then everyone would demand twenty million. Whether or not a demand is unreasonable depends on many things, and can't be judged just by numbers alone. It's best to let players do that kind of thinking for themselves.

Whats even funnier is the way traders die when they try to sneak thru a naval guard system to power trade faster.

Whats even funnier is when you ask them to stop for a scan and they actualy do stop so you dont have to bother CDing them before nullification

sure, but how is one pirate supposed to know how much or even IF another pirate took from a certain trader/miner? or what proof could a trader/miner give to back up his claim that he has already been robbed a few times? Yes, i think there are many players out there who can think reasonable. however, naturally, as a pirate they will assume the trader/miner simply doesnt want to pay them... wouldnt it help a GREAT deal to have some prove?

maybe i am just that unlucky, but i have honestly run into pirates who demanded 20 million of me. on my first run. after having given 5 million to another pirate. I told them i cant give them that... guess what? yeah, destroyed, 2750 gold ore lost. great. 60 min of mining totally wasted, no cash - yeah, thats really fun. and yes, they did "RP" - what should I report?

In my experience they start with very high demands. some can be persuaded to take less, and 1/4 of them will just destroy me if i cant pay.

"thinking for themselves" can be helped by implenting some rules.

sure, many pirates would want the mximum they can get... however, paying 20 million 1 time and being save of pirating is better than having to pay 20 million 5 times.

If they ask for 10m, pay them 10m!

Today, someone asked for 500k and I gave them 5m! before that, I paid a pair of pirates 10m when they didn't ask for any money.

Called generosity. Have some, please.

Heres an idea, instead of crying how the most profatable single sale price run is heavily pirated, DO SOMETHING ELSE.

Thats right, use your OWN common sense and AVOID the pirates.

And for the record, gold is pretty crappy considering the ammount of time involved.

If i had any money at all... as i saif, maybe i am just really unlucky with running into pirates that make very high demands repeatedly.... but guess what? i would have no problem paying 5 million to get rid of a pirate. as i said a few times now, the problem isnt when this happens 1 or 2, maybe 3 times. the problem is when this happens every 10 minutes and when they demand significally more than your 5 millions. there must be a limit, RP isnt just a big FFA. the fact that it is RP doesnt mean that everything can be allowed without limits just because it has RP background. imagine WoW without limit for PvP.

and yes, i am mining just for 2 days now, i am really sorry i havent found the perfect routine yet.

If you're having so many problems with pirates, I would suggest joining a faction that trades and/or mines. There is strength in numbers, and having experience on one's side can only improve things.
