The nightmarish memories gradually faded away as Shizuma hugged her daughter from behind calming Kiriko, softly speaking into her ears and gently kissing and caressing her head. Kiri looked at Leo's top, it was wet from her tears, enclosed between her new parents Kiriko took long breaths to calm down, the warm touch and loving protection from both of these people made her feel so safe and secure, Shizuma showed her daughter the ring that Leo had given her, Kiri looked at the shining ring on her mothers finger still listening to her calming voice.
"You know what that means honey? We're going to be a real family soon."
Kiriko nodded her head exhausted after crying so much, she rested her head onto leos chest and held shizuma's hand intertwining their fingers so that she could hold on tight, kiri eventually smiled a little as tears of happiness falling slowly down her wet cheeks, soon she would once again, truely belong to a family, one that loves her with all its heart

*** A couple of days later ***
Shizuma was sitting in the backyard, the message she got from Steve a couple of days ago keeps replaying in her mind. She still can't believe it... won't believe he's dead... She's sad... all she does lately is sit in the backyard... looking at all the ships that pass by, hoping that one of them might be Steve. She barely eats nor talks.
Her hand strokes the ring Leo gave her... her lips move yet her voice is barely hearable "No one understands..." she reaches down into her pocket and takes out a small voice recorder, her hands are shaking as she takes a deep breath and presses record.
"Stardate: 02,07.010 - 818 A.S. , diary entry 14... So this is it... *sighs* I received a message from Steve... he recorded it right before he died... Sure we didn't see each other alot lately... not after he tried to kill me... but still *sighs* I never had the chance to tell him he's like a brother to me... the brother I never had... *sobs quietly* I guess it's even worse that I have no one to talk about it in here... Leo despites Steve... and I don't want to bother Kiri-chan with my grief... *clears throat* Leo-san proposed to me a couple of days ago... I said hai... I was filled with joy... but right now I don't know if I can do this... Do I even belong here? Am I destined to marry? To take care of Kiri? To have a child of my own? It all seemed so logical at first... but now... *sighs* hai... *she starts mumbling, more to herself then to the recorder* I don't belong here... I can't do this... it's all one big mistake... *sobs quietly* I need... I need to get out of here... *starts crying* gomenasai... Leo-san... Kiri-chan... i'll miss you..." A bunch of stumbling sounds are hears as she drops the voice recorder and runs away. About 2 more minutes only the singing of birds was recorded, then recording stopped.

Leo, who just came from a flight, enters the villa. As soon as he enters the house, he's looking for Shizuma. He bought her a big box of chocolate in the shape of a big heart..."Heh, I hope she likes chocolate...That thing was damn expensive..." he's walking into the living room and looks around..."Shizuma ? Honey ? Are you here ?" She isn't there, he searches for her in the whole house, walking upstairs, checking every room...then he walks back downstairs, checking the backyard..."Honey ?" He walks out a little, to the place where Shizuma was sitting all the time...he looks around, she wasn't there...then, he looks on the ground, spotting the voice recorder laying there..."Hmm ? What's that..." he picks it up and pushes the 'play' button, listening to her diary entry...after it's done with playing, he suddenly drops the recorder, and the box of chocolate...all the little pieces of chocolate, also in the shape of a heart, fall out, on the ground...His thoughts rush through his mind, a strange mix of anger, sadness and despair...he falls down on his knees, staring into the skies of Gran Canaria, speechless...

Shizuma was almost halfway Dublin when she noticed she left her voice recorder back at the villa... She paniced for a moment but then decided to get back once the villa was on the dark side of Gran Canaria. Hours passed and finally the moment was there. In the darkest of night she landed her ship and walked towards her 'home'. Absolutely sure everyone would be asleep she sneaks inside and walks across the dark living room on her toes. Suddenly she stops at the fire place, she's looking at a photo that is enlighted by the moonlight. A picture of Kiri, Leo and her. She starts doubting herself again, everything goes quiet... she can't move, she wants to... but she can't. she is listening to her breathing... which sounds almost deafening in this akward silence. But... the breathing she hears isn't only hers... someone is here... someone else... She slowly turns around and stares at the dark silhouette of her fiancee, sitting in the couch. As frozen she stands there. Not knowing what to do... not knowing what to say.

Leo slowly stands up from the couch, his face can be seen in the moonlight, he slowly walks towards Shizuma, there's still the look of this mix of despair and sadness in his eye...He approaches Shizuma slowly, eventually he stands infront of her, he looks deep into her eyes and starts talking with a quiet, calm, soft but also sad voice..."Shizuma...why ? Just...why ? Why do you run away...away from this..." he looks around in the room..."I don't understand...Shizuma...you want to be my wife...we need to look for Kiri, and soon our own child..." He strokes her pregnant tummy gently. "Just why? Do you love him ? Is it that ? Just...give me a reason...Shizuma..."

Shizuma looks into his eyes but quickly breaks eye contact. She slowly drops down onto her knees and mumbles quietly. "Hai... I love him... he's like a brother to me... a brother I never had... and now he's dead... dead... before I even had the chance to tell him all this..." she sighs and looks down to the floor. "I don't belong here... I can't live this life... no matter how hard I want to... it's only a matter of time before I screw up and get someone injured..." she looks up at Leo with tears in her eyes, her voice sounds a bit shaky as she continues. "The last couple of days I thought this life was to good to be true and I guess it is... I'm not ment to be around people... i'm not ment to love... or to be loved..." She sobs quietly as painful childhood memories emerge, for the first time since they've met... Leo would hear about her history... "Everyone who I loved... who was important to me... died...first mother... then father... now Steve... and if I stay here... the same will happen to Kiri-chan and you..." She collapses at Leo's feet and she start to cry uncontrolably.

Leo drops down on his knees aswell, hugging Shizuma tight, her tears are wetting his shirt and he hugs tighter...He talks with a calm, soft voice..."Shizuma...what are you talking about ? Even if it hurts...people die...people you love die...it's just how life is...It can be cruel, but also wonderful..." He lets off her for a moment and holds his ring onto hers..."Do you see what I mean? -This- is something wonderful...you are probably...no, you -are- the best thing happened to me..in my entire life. My parents died horrible aswell...and god, I've lost so many people I love and like...But now, now you have family...You, Kiri, Me and..." He gently strokes her tummy again. "And the baby...And about that point with me and Kiri dying if you stay here, is probably the most stupid thing you ever said...Listen..." He dries a few tears off her cheek."-You-, -Kiri- and the -baby-...you are my life...without you, I couldn't go on with my life...Kiri needs you...I need you...the baby needs you...You -can't- just leave...What about the marriage ? I thought you were so happy about it ? Can you even imagine how I felt as I heard that recording of yours ?" He hugs her tight again, stroking her back. "We need your here...Shizuma..."

Shizuma holds on to Leo, afraid to let go, even though very little of his words get through. Many years of supressed sadness and grief found their way out, her body started to shake a bit as she was crying almost hysterically. Her mother getting shot plays through her head like a movie. the lifeless body of her father hanging in a rope from the ceiling... the years of bullying in the orphanage... her failed career with the Kusari Naval Forces... the death of Steve... it all keeps playing through her head, unable to stop it, unable to forget. She cries... she screams... she even begs... Nothing she does can bring them back...

Leo tries to calm her down a little, still stroking her back like he actually does if Kiri is upset...Still talking with his calm and soft voice..."Shhh...Shhh ! Shizuma...honey...It's alright...I'm here, Kiri is here...we are one family and we will stay together...doesn't matter what happens...I will be there for you...aslways, doesn't matter when, doesn't matter where...I will always take care of you..." He grabs her legs with one arm, still holding her under the neck with the other one, lifting her up and stands up, carrying her. He walks upstairs with her, still repeating this phrase softly and calm..."I will always be there for you..." As soon as he arrives the second floor, he walks to their room and opens the door with one foot, entering the room. He carries her into it and walks to the bed, gently dropping her down on it. He pulls up the blankets above her and sits down on the edge of the bed, stroking her cheeks dry from the tears. "You should take a rest...Try to sleep a little, alright ? And don't forget...I'm right here if you need me...always." He gives her a warm smile and a soft kiss on the lips. "I love you...Shizuma...I always will..."

Shizuma cried herself to sleep, the next morning she slowly opens her eyes. All the memories suddenly didn't feel so tormenting anymore, she turns around and stares at Leo's sleeping face. A new wave of feelings rushes over her... she feels bad for acting the way she did... She feels ashame for the way she acted... She gets out of bed and saunters downstairs into the backyard... After walking to her regular spot she stares up and smiles, whispering "Farewell... Steve-kun"
