No my dear Canadian, what they look like is what they were supposed to look like, an amalgamation of the allied Red Hessian design, the readily available Borderworlds design, and some Coalition elements as well.

Yes, the Cruiser is a new model as well. It's a LOT bigger than the current one, going to be about on par - size wise- as a Luxury Liner. More bulky, box-like utilitarian look than a submarine in space. The Storm is the same model, which was a good one, but a re-texture to match the new designs of the XKR-151 series. Hammer & Cogs and all.

I can feel the love. Still feeling angsty because I do not worship your work?
But what I said is quite true - hell, you even confirmed it. That is a compressed Dagger. And in game it looks even more funny - as if many of the sharp parts in render turned into fat wedges. Probably because whoever made the models was using a simplified lighting setup or something. From a certain degree, 3D models will try to make two surface look like they are bent together - as a way of saving polygons, I suppose, while within a certain degree, the surfaces would look like they are two different faces. I suppose it is too late to fix them now - not that it is much of a problem, it will be barely noticeable.

The texture, while well done, feels very colorful as Jinx mentioned. Lack of uniformity makes the models look less militaristic in design somewhat - one big reason why I find Rheinland ships, uniformly green, to be more military looking than Bretonian or Kusari ships, which looks more like display civilian craft.

Otherwise, this model is sure to resolve the odd shape issue the previous models had.

It really doesn't matter how many ship in Disco already have solid cockpits, those ships don't look vanilla.

It's all about looking Vanilla, and telling me I'm wrong is stupid, because I'm not. No matter how you cut it, no matter what way you dice and slice it, it doesn't look vanilla. Give it a cockpit, give it glass, once again is not hard.

So don't make yourself look like a fool anymore by trying to say it doesn't make a difference, because it does.
The worst part is it's an easy fix, anyone can do it. So why not, is the question? Why are you so opposed to making it better?

New Coalition Shipline - Korolia - 06-07-2010

It is their line of ship, and they seem to prefer it this way...
Beside, the point I think is to have something close enough to Vanilla. Not exactly vanilla. Leaves for a much greater freedom of creation.

If it'll help ease everyone's feeling about this... When there is time I'll look over the models with the HC and designer to see what if anything should or could be changed for the better.

New Coalition Shipline - sable - 06-07-2010

They look good, yes.
But the current ones look more unique to me...

So I wouldn't really care if they get replaced or not, both look good.

New Coalition Shipline - schlurbi - 06-09-2010

The Renders that Serpentis made already look much better. Sure the old Ships are classic, but those look cool too. I really like the Bomber, only Thing I dislike are the non-transparent Cockpits, but still. Nice Work by all of the random Modelers.

I was skipping the whole Thread, because I saw the Word Cruiser, may we see that? If it isn't supposed for public, can you send me cmp Files? Because I'd really like to have the cmp Files of the Fighters and Bombers too.

Also:
Is the Gunboat getting a different Texture too or does it exactly stay the Same as before?
What do you do with the old Models? They really look a Lot like the Ships that can be seen in the Freelancer Intro, would be awesome to have those old Models being used for Wrecks. Maybe, just an Idea.

New Coalition Shipline - Tabris - 06-09-2010

Well Schlurbi, as far as i know the Gunboat is just getting a retexture to make it look better and meaner.;)

As for the Old Models, well in RP we would be scrapping all the old ones for materials and to wash away the failures that the design represented and move on to the new and improved vessels that will lead the Coalition to victory.

So members of the Coalition, sing and dance! For the old and flawed models shall soon be washed away and be nothing but a memory of the past. Behold the future is neigh!

New Coalition Shipline - Black Widow - 06-09-2010

dont like em, Kudos for using the Coalition Textures from Starlancer. But the 3 Ships look very similar with no difference between them +0 from me
