I have delivered another shipment of supplies to this remote base here in the Cassini system. 250 units of Food Rations, 250 units of Water and 250 units of Oxygen have made it into the base's storage departments. Once more, the goods came from planet Denver, where I was most pleased to meet the vessel Black Widow as a support craft on this dangerous trip. We arrived at Foster without any major problems. ...*static*... I will try to continue these shipments untill the base is once again fully stocked on supplies. All went well, though there was a nasty ambush upon entering the system. Perhaps Drake has managed to arrange something. I have made another supply run towards Foster Base. The following items have been delivered: 500 units of Food Rations 500 units of Water 500 units of Oxygen 500 units of Pharmaceuticals. To those that process this message please note that information on my storage bay may suggest other numbers than said in the delivery. These goods are either for personal usage or that of the crew. Today's run started at Baltimore, where I had just gained clearance after maintainance on the Norseman. I proceeded to Denver, where I loaded up the ship with supplies The run to Foster was without problems, though the Mammoth's hull sighed under the destroyers laser fire. The goods have been succesfully delivered to the base's trader The end of the run? Of course, a cold beer in the cantine area It seems Foster Base's supplies could soon be less low than they were a couple of weeks ago. The following goods have been supplied to the station: 500 units of Food Rations 500 units of Water 500 units of Oxygen 500 units of Pharmaceuticals Attachment Please note that unit numbers may differ on the snapshots. The goods not stated above are for personal usage or that of the crew The start of the run was at Denver. Right before that, I was escorted out of the Cassini system by Iris of the vessel DSE)A-12.Shrike. I had to remain at Foster after the previous run due to critical damage the ship had taken from the Rogue Destroyers. Although Foster has not got an A-ranking shipyard, it looked good enough to make it to Baltimore. After this small trip, the goods were picked up at Denver A brief check if everything was present in the ship's cargo bay The run to Foster went smooth, though the crew got some practice against some petty rogues in Galileo. Sadly my ship's turrets weren't nearly as fast as Iris' fighting skills DSE)A-12.Shrike accompanied me once more out of the system, and delivered me safely to Baltimore. While making our way through Galileo, a Xeno spotted us and started the chase. Iris was occupied with clearing the space of some hackers so the Xeno rushed through and got on my tail. I buried the throttle and made it to Denver with ease. There I turned the ship and fired up the turrets, making the men enter all battlestations. The Xeno arrived and looked at me, then noticed Iris was right behind him. I think I haven't seen anyone run that fast in a long time. We had a proper laugh about it and proceeded to Baltimore. I paid her 3.000.000 Sirius Credits for her help on this run. Yours in confidence, Kenzo Adriaen Joosten Mathijs Dijksterhuis Head of Engineering Department Deep Space Engineering ---Transmission Ends--- DSE) Communications channel - Lord Balian - 09-25-2011 It was a good day. The crew's morale was elated, and the runs to Foster were going smooth. But then, the inevitable happened. On our way to the Galileo Jumphole, my ship, the Norseman, was ambushed by a rogue horde. P-38 immediatly engaged the swarm, which had a gunboat backing them up. My men moved into the battlestations, preparing for the worst. The first evasive manouver failed. The second was interrupted as well. Now we were running low on flares. I had to make a decision... ''Turn the ship 90 degrees and fire up the turrets. Let's give 'em hell boys'' The rest went in a combination of slow-motion and blur. It seemed the gunboat's razor managed to punch a hole in the hull of the Mammoth. We had no time to close the chambers surrounding it to deal with the suction. All I could do was give the order to eject using the escape pods. I had practiced this many times with the crew, though that was nothing compared to the real thing. My heart was racing, I counted the heads to make sure everyone got out. Then a large bang as the shuttles boosted out the ship. The last thing I saw was a big explosion, and pieces of the once mighty ship scattered for as far the eye could see. ''No time to look and mourn, get yourself to Foster'' A few days later, my crew and I have recovered from our wounds, and are ready to leave Foster. One of my officers managed to get himself a robotic arm, but he was glad he was still alive to go show it to his wife on Pittsburgh. Now we we're facing a new problem. We needed transportation to Baltimore, where arrangements for a new ship were being made. It became clear another Mammoth was not going to be commissioned. It was bad news, for it meant the crew would have to be split up, and I would lose a few good men. Nonetheless, a new model DSE Camara, christened the Constellation, was ready for me at Pittsburgh. With the help of our President, we got back to Baltimore without any complications. I gave the men a chance to take a break. Surpringly, all but my navigator, on-board engineer and my two most trusty gunmen, wished to take up on that offer. It was obvious we would set out immediatly to outfit the new vessel with the needed requirements. Requirements for more dangerous missions, to Foster Base. ''And that's the story of how the Norseman perished. I hope this old geezer didn't take too much of your precious time!'' Kenzo fills the glasses of all who are present with milk, ice cubes and a hispanic sweet liquor called Cuarenta y très. He raises his glass, and looks around to see who will follow him. ''To the Constellation, and to Deep Space Engineering!'' DSE) Communications channel - Lord Balian - 09-26-2011 ---Incoming Transmission--- Comm ID: DSE)Constellation Location: Foster Base, Cassini ....*static*..... ...../running connection debug/CODE2233/... .../input succesfull/restart connection... Greetings, Please find attached a report of today's supply run to Foster Base. The crew was eager to get to work aboard the Constellation, so we hesitated not, and brought supplies to our outpost in Cassini. The Constellation entered the docking bay of Foster with the following goods in it's cargo bay: 200 units of Food Rations 200 units of Water 200 units of Oxygen Attachment The trip went as smooth as can be. After remaining out of the croshairs of some angry xeeners, P-38 Lightning and the Constellation were inbound for Pueblo. I had to pick up my navigator there, who had transported himself with an Ageira vessel from Baltimore to Pueblo to check up on a brother. His brother works as a researcher on Pueblo, and was worried about the destruction of the Norseman. After the pick-up, I split from P-38 for a moment and set course for Planet Denver. There I awaited Lightning's arrival, after which I loaded the supplies onto the Camara. The run towards Foster was interesting. After encountering a Samura affiliated vessel (independent however) that was inbound for Colorado in Galileo, we set course for the Cassini jumphole. I asked the President to enter first and see if he could overload the destroyers guarding the other end. This was not a succes, unfortunately. I charged through and managed to get out of their range before any major damage was inflicted. Then I proceeded to Foster Base. The goods were sold and the end of the run was of course, in the bar. I thank the vessel P-38 Lightning for its assistance and good company End of Attachment Yours in confidence, Kenzo Adriaen Joosten Mathijs Dijksterhuis Head of Engineering Department Deep Space Engineering ---Transmission Ends--- |
