Approved graphics mods - Toaster - 05-26-2011 Does it alter PC performance? And any news on Disco-made ships? Approved graphics mods - michiyl - 05-26-2011 ' Wrote:Does it alter PC performance?Your computer probably will have higher loading times when encountering vessels with "enhanced" textures (for instance, a 1024x1024 texture WILL take longer than a 4x4 texture). Discovery ships don't have any "enhanced" texture packs as far as I know, and nobody seems to request one either:D By the way ... any news on why my self-made mod is not on the list of approved mods anymore? Approved graphics mods - Toaster - 05-26-2011 Alright, I just tried the Texture mod out on SP. The textures do look better on many ships (haven't tried Disco ones) but when I look at something really big with an enhanced texture (like a planet from close up), my FPS rate does go down a bit. But that's just 'cause of my crappy PC. Cannon! Get here nao and approve it the mawd! Approved graphics mods - Echo 7-7 - 05-27-2011 Quote: Does it alter PC performance? 1. It depends on your PC's capabilities. 2. I haven't tested non-vanilla ships. Approved graphics mods - Swallow - 05-28-2011 installed HD textures, actually that part which only changes space env. Planets looks awesome:D (did that manually) Approved graphics mods - Beauenheim - 07-05-2011 ' Wrote:Are these mods allowed? I went and tried the HD-Textures, however, things like gallic engines, and some sun rays were blocky, and messed up. I found that the updated version doesn't have ANY problems, for me at least: http://hd-fl.upperlevel.org/index.php?sect...d=newestversion That works great, no more problem, it's in German, but should be good enough. I am using the HQ music as well, I don't notice THAT much of a difference, and I think it unpacks about a gig, but I use it. I give a thumbs up. I also use realistic lighting at 10% And HudShift at my resolution 1680x1050. That's all. Hope that HD-Textures thing works for you guys, as the update one did for me. Hello, Can you provide us some screenshots with some ships before and after using the HD texture mod? Thanks, Approved graphics mods - jxie93 - 07-07-2011 ' Wrote:And HudShift at my resolution 1680x1050. I'm interested in this. Can I have a link? Edit: Nevermind, silly me was too lazy to read back a few pages. Approved graphics mods - Echo 7-7 - 07-07-2011 ' Wrote:I'm interested in this. Can I have a link? Hudshift is win. PM me if you're having severe difficulties getting it to work. Aside: Setting the Realistic Lighting Mod to 15% seems to work better than at 10%, the effect is nicer. Approved graphics mods - Anonymous User - 07-07-2011 About HD mod. Its designed for the HHC server which does not have non vanilla ships. So any non vanilla objects won't change. Its okay on a highend pc but causes lags if you have a old machine. Also I rememer reading loong ago about HD texturing can messup FL. (Some admin/dev it was) only tested it @ vanilla fl on my own. |
