also to add onto Xoria about creating another character to join other factions is if you tell them what your main faciton is they might want to ally along with you and then if you need help they can come along:)

although that does depend on what faction you are aligning yourself with and who you might want as an ally:)

Alright, I'll definitely take this under advisement. When I see Pole I'll let him know. What exactly is a guard system? Are we talking as in an NPC guarded system? Such as a deep-space raider type base?

well a Gaurd system is that factions home system.

if you enter one and it isnt your factions then be prepared to be fired upon, even if you are neutral with the faction and you enter it, you will be fired upon:)

it is mainly NPC gaurded but some gaurd systems have a player population to help defend and police it

the problem is, apart from the house gaurd systems, you wont know is that jumphole leads to one or not :\

guys, i beg you: PLEASE take the GMG ID as xoria suggested.
it would realy be the best for everyone! for you and for the community. having a faction thats made of traders on the one side and mercenaries/guards on the other side is the best way to experience the full potential of disco! so each one of you could have a fighting- and a trading-char without joining an other faction!
and dont forget that the GMG defeated an entire house on its own (ok, well ... it took 80 years but who cares!). that means you also have a great potential here to get the big caps out of the garage if anyone seriously wants to mess with you guys. so you have the luxury option to use them if necessary. dont get me wrong - i realy dont want to motivate anyone to start with capwhoring but judging from your appearence so far, this should be nothing to be concerend about.
so please trust me: you realy get everything from that faction:

- Mercenaries
- Traders
- Capital Ship Potential
- Own Systems (!) By Default (e.g. sigma 13 - nothing less but a hub for the whole region!)
- Political Weight

the GMG may be a companie - but if you look at it a little longer you will find out that it is nothing less but a small house of its own.
and on the other hand the server would finally get a GMG faction! ;D

naturally you can join some other factions first but if you ask me ... *looks paranoid over his shoulders and starts to whisper* its not necessary. you guys seem allready to be well organised. just wait 3-5 weeks until you "learned" how to RP. if you want some lessons in PvP of course than ... *gets louder as a old discovery community member steps by* you should totaly join a faction my friend! for example the bretonian/kosari navy. they are currently at war. so you would get some real good battle experience/ basic education from these factions;)

They have their own guard system, Sigma 59, which is reachable from Sigma 19, and it posses 2 bases also.
What von Gotteshand said is all correct. GMG is really perfect for a mature, organized, and active group of playes who want to integrate their trading and combat all into one package. GMG has a solid commercial and combat back-story, and there are already active clans that are GMG's natural enemies.
Since GMG is the HFuel supplier to most of the galaxy, the trading fleet has reason to go where the profits are, and the combat escorts will either find plenty of action in escort duty, or defending the Sigmas from pirates (not to mention occasional skirmishes with the Rheinland Military clan (although those should be discussed behind the scenes first. RM has plenty to do already.)

you know i had no idea that the GMG was allowed capships :O

although i dont think there is many GMG ships they can buy so they would have to rely on Zoner ships WHICH are VERY tough and they also obtain one of the largest ships in the server: the Juggernaught:)which is pretty cool to see heh and because they are allies it is perfectly valid heh
plus the Zoners as allies would seriously help you ALOT as they are very big in numbers and they basically are all over sirius:)so if your in trouble call up some Zoners to help you out
