Well the infocard says "Crafted by the Samura corporation", so I'll take that as a "yes".

So assuming Joe Samura, Escort Pilot for Samura Industries, gets his hands on one of those, gifted by the Hogosha, and he has the corporation he works for supplying him with maintenance and repairs and otherwise - as he is the escort pilot for it afterall - it would make no sense whatsoever for that thing to be nerfed in RP just because his ID and IFF don't match the ship.

This is something we are keeping our eye on as this comes out.
I can assume that once the system is implemented, there will be a way for talking to the admin team to correct any problems we might see with this system after checking out it's effects.
Much like we can have the tech chart cells adjusted now.

As with Prowler I am all for a wait and see attitude to this and am looking forward to helping ironing out any bugs with this new system once they are encountered.
May I suggest that the factions that will be affected by this make a list of just what changes they might feel needs to be made and then wait and see just how they are affected to then submit any improvements they may feel they need.

Is this nerf gonna be tied to ID's or the actual equipment? Because Outcasts dont HAVE a fighter; does this mean everything we use is automatically nerfed?

Outcasts are green to the BW line and will stay that way. In the dev cycle I've approached the 101st (then under Jameson) about getting their own snubline (basically retextured BW fighters with an orange glowy cockpit) - but in the end nothing came out of that. It is something to consider for a future version.

And yes Marcus - if any problems or oversights other then "but I pilfered this tech from another facton years ago why nerf it now" occur, we'll be open to constructive criticism. That's what the beta stage is for anyway.

Whining and moaning will, at least by me, be ignored.

[Edit] Oh, and at above comments about the Black Dragon? Following that arguement the Black Dragon should be a civilian class ship, if every tech working on it would know how to operate it.

Sabre is a Borderworlds commercial ship. It says this clearly in the infocard. The new system won't have any effect on Outcast Sabres. The sabre is sold commercially to just about anyone.

PS: Outcasts have dozens of ships. Alot of factions out there have limited choices between Eagles and Moldy Crow's.

Am I or anyone else to interprete most posts in this thread to be mere "whining and moaning" to you, then?

Interesting thought, but for now it is not. It is Hogosha.

I love the Nerf. Factions be damned. If you do not like your own gear? to bad.. Goto a new faction.
Everytime i log on now i see a multitude of mixed matched gear. It is BS. Not going to go to forum and check every time i see this to figure weather player has permission or not.
As for putting it in character ID whatever it is called. Fudge that. Not writing a story for all my chars, and not reading others for every ship i see ingame.
I say make mixed nerf like 50%

No need to freak out about it.

Those of you who are getting chills down your spine, should ask yourselves; "Why am I concerned about this? What affect does it have on me that makes me feel this way?"

And, for the record, this is another case of, what the community creates, it destroys. Think about why such a system is being set up by the dev team.

In all actuallity, I support this new system. This is, if you forget on the title, an RP server, not PvP. I'm actually going to look forward the fact that certain ships and tech mixes will lessen a pilots effectiveness, thus forcing one to adapt. If you can't, then either sell the ship or deal with it.

Some groups may not have their own shiplines and such, thus bringing this around is a step to see who can adapt themselves or simply fall to the sidelines of history. And, god I can't believe I'm saying this but, Dab has a point. This is something a lot of people I've seen complain about when they see ships that make even an admin go "WTF?!" and I for one think you all should be lucky and considerate the devs are even putting their time to fix such problems.

This proposed plan was put in place to lower the amount of work required by the team in regards to keeping everyone's tech in place, correct? I'd say thats a good idea, I beleive that in-game mechanics used to enforce server rules is a nice thing. Still, I beleive that there is a diffrence between a person who has had a ship for ~2 years and has developed their character's story to the point where others were willing to share their tech with them, and guys who did a "kill 5 of these guys, and you can use our guns" type mission. I think that it would be nice if there were a way to offer execptions out of this rule for people who have worked to earn it. Because, all though this is a game, a lot of effort goes into building up your relationships with others to the point where you can get fancy tech.

Basically, this rule would be messing with people's Holy Grails. A lot of us care about our toys.
