a nice clean discussion about... - 13CentKiller - 06-19-2008 ' Wrote:I have not read all the comments here, but this much I do know from my own experience from another server. Well said, but... If only one or two of the said admins show, how are they expected to keep up with onca's statistics in previous posts? a nice clean discussion about... - RonG777 - 06-20-2008 You do have a point, (I went back and read some more posts). And I do understand what it is like when some Admins become inactive for a while and increases the work on others. 60 violation reports a day every day is quite a job to look over alone, (perhaps this amount changes at times. I don't know). If there are any issues the Admins are having, I'm sure that they are discussed in their forums, or whatever type of communication they have. I do believe that the entire Admin team here are doing their best and want to continue to make this server the best one out there. Unless there is some other issue that has not been mentioned, let us just have some patience and let them take care of this problem. a nice clean discussion about... - Varyag - 06-20-2008 Carefull with this, the reason there are so few admins is that they are so completely selective about it. I would hate to see a push or pressure on the community for a few new ones and rush a carefull process. Just my 2 cents a nice clean discussion about... - caylith - 06-20-2008 We've been discussing this on the admin forums for a couple of weeks now. We have a few on our list and we just need to come to a consensus. Next is the polls...etc. Yes, it's a thankless job. No, we don't get paid for it. Yeah, at times it sucks but I don't complain. I do it because I care about the community. I do it because I want Discovery to be the best that there is out there. We need people that are willing to do the job, to put aside all biased opinions, to be willing to sanction their own faction members, to stick to their guns and be humble enough to admit when they're wrong. People who don't flame or start fights on the forums or in game...level-headed players and members of the community. Tell me, who would you nominate? Server police...no way. And giving it to The Angels? No way. The Angels are there to help players and factions alike. I started the faction because Freelancer and Discovery was the first online game I'd ever played. I was freaked out and, to tell you the truth, scared as hell to interact with people online. I thought it would've been nice to have someone there to help/guide in the beginning (other than my husband). So I created The Angels. They were never meant to be server police. I'd appreciate it if players who are familiar with Angels to at least support them and defend them when they get blown up. No Angel will ever fire a weapon (unless for training purposes), even in self-defense (if they do, they're kicked). And there are more Angels then ever before and they're very active. They do a damn good job but they are not, and never will be, server police. [excuse the rant, sorry] Also, if there's a problem or flamefest going on somewhere on the forums, hit the report post button and it will be seen. Make sure to explain what post and poster who's causing the problems. Explaining it will make it much easier on us. We cannot read every single post in every single thread. Contact us on skype as well. One of us will be there. For those of you that have some to me directly on skype, it's been dealt with? a nice clean discussion about... - mwerte - 06-20-2008 Cay, in case you didn't hear the report button has been disabled. other then that /seconded. a nice clean discussion about... - caylith - 06-20-2008 Ahh. I thought my inbox was a bit less full lately. Weird....anything else I've missed while sitting in a pile o' sanctions? Mmmkay, back on topic. a nice clean discussion about... - roadrunner - 07-02-2008 Cay Have you been on a server where the "server police" actually work. I come from such a server. And it can actualy work. Not a "police" were admins but they had some console acces, and it worked fine. Al?so they had a long training period 8 weeks i think where they were testet and testet and testet on server rules and manners. before they got the privileges that it is go gain that power, And it was a good training for all that went tru it. I belive that all got better players my self incl. But it is all in attitude and behavier for such a "Server Police" member, They dont have to do admin paperwork, they deal with it ingame, and make a post in a tread and admins can from that tread deside to make a sanction on the said player. Situation Player A is killed by player B and C Player A rengages Player B. and player A kills Player B then engages player C Get killed undockes player B leaves but, player A keeps re engaging player C. If a server Police is online player B or C can hail and ask for help "server police" member can Disconnect Player A ot Kick player A for ruining the RP. Is that so bad. After the " serverPolice" have either kicked or disconnectet player A, he/she will post in proper part of forum reason to kick/Disconnect and player name . From there Admins can take over. Now i ask you is that so bad. a nice clean discussion about... - Ding - 07-02-2008 Okay... I too come from servers where there were server police and NO it was a total mess. I realize that the admins work hard and that there are too few... (luv ya Cay), We do appreciate them and yes, if they decide to add more to their ranks, I totally support it. But I just don't see the value in putting 'celeron' chips where full 'pentium' chips are needed. Nuff said? |
