She strode down the hall wearing an olive-green jumpsuit with a patch containing the emblem of the Red Hessians and the words Alexial Vargas stitched onto the bottom.

She thought of her last time here, her failure, and the mercy granted by the Coalition. She was spared because the Coalition knew she would make for an able recruit in due time. This is what she believed, this is what she knew. So, when the soldiers carried her off, and ejected her from the bastions of the Coalition into a Starflier destined for Red Hessian space, she was pleased. She had not died, as she had expected, and when she reached the Hessians, she proved herself to them, and (not without struggle, or hesitation from many of the Hessians) joined their ranks. She had not yet kicked her Cardamine addiction, as she knew she would, but she could hide that from the recruiters, for now. She always had small amounts hidden, and now she was back. Now was the time for her enlistment into their ranks.

Approaching the recruitment offices, she stood there, waiting, and hoped, with all her heart, that the one to come out, and yell next, would not be the cold blooded Vicenta, the one who had nearly killed her last time, because if it was, she knew she would die.
