Guard ID's in 4.85 - Akumabito - 10-22-2008 ' Wrote:Umm, Cam...the Zoner zone of influence *IS* everywhere. Is it? How is ZOI defined? That is a sore point that should be defined now instead of after. Is it systems with bases? Systems with vanilla NPC's? Zoners decided to live in the wild unregulated systems outside of colonial control. Their ZOI shouldn't be everywhere. Can we get a ZOI map for the IDs so we know the scope of these restrictions? Guard ID's in 4.85 - Orin - 10-22-2008 Quote:...making sure that everyone won't simply only ever use the Guard ID from now on.I don't see that happening... There will obviously be a massive surge of Guard IDs for the caps, but I don't think fighters/bombers should be any more limited on the Guard IDs. They aren't getting any extra responsibilities or buffs by getting the Guard ID. Why should they be punished by losing their ability to pirate and such? And will any pirate factions' Guard IDs be allowed pirating on regular rules set now? Obviously no cruisers and up, but why would the others be disallowed this? And if GBs are limited by some factions only to the Guard ID, if they are disallowed pirating, GB piracy for that faction dies altogether. Did you think of that? Guard ID's in 4.85 - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 10-22-2008 Zoner's ZoI's wouldnt be in house territory, except for the occaisional passing through FP2 in bering, 4 in magellan, ect. Guard ID's in 4.85 - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 10-22-2008 whatever, it still has freeport in its name so i consider it zoner. Guard ID's in 4.85 - Orin - 10-22-2008 Freeports are Freeports. Not Zonerports. It just so happens that most Freeports are under Zoner authority. Freeport 4 isn't. Guard ID's in 4.85 - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 10-22-2008 SLAUGHTER THE IMG! NUKE THEM! lol... Anyways, im glad its cleared up, as long as i can have my Zona Jugganaut in omicron minor, theta, delta, gamma, kappa, 92, and other omicrons ill be happy forever. Guard ID's in 4.85 - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 10-22-2008 Look i think that this server is going mad with rules. when i started here calling an admin was only after long discussion with the offending player or his faction. also half of the most memorable characters and players i met were the wandering type going around the sirius sector having a grand old time adventuring and rping, in what today would be either out of rp weaps, ships, or zoi. i mean on the bloody freelancer box it talks aobut the ability to travel all aobut the galaxy, and to be honest, i dont want to have to journey around the entire sector in a vhf all the time. i like a nice solid gunboat to explore in. to tradea bit, to smuggle a bit. do some work for various factions. that is what made freelancer and this server one of the best around the ability to have faction politics and fun but at the same time allowing people to just go out explore find a ship, build characters. one of my alteregos fowler did just that for about a year and no one complained. a junker id'd and zoner tagged x shuttle that smuggled traded and did some merc work on the side. i roamed, explored, and and no one seemed to mind and everyone enjoyed themselves. to see that gunboats are going to be stuck to guard ids and then tossed in guard systems and restricted to the particular owning factions ZOI is frankly not what the spirit of the game is about. Im appalled at the state of the server, with no trust between players, people on the forum flying off the handle about some BHG cap ships, which barring one or two occasions ive had no problems with (and ive rectified both by talking to the offending party instead of sending them to admins), and more rules being made than ever before. it has been mentioned that without these restrictions that the server would turn into a pvp one. it wouldn't , because people that want to roleplay are still here. people that want to explore and make disco better. just because some prick blows you up in a gunboat and goes lolz doesn't ruin a game. by making every single character that doesn't conform to some faction register on the forums and endure a trial by forum of their rp basically imposes the will of self proclaimed freelancer lore experts or character assassins on players. I begin to question more and more why i came back. this really isn't about fun and story anymore but more lawyering about than i believed imaginable a bout a game. PS. why raise cap ships prices i dont get that many opportunities to trade or play since my connection is a piece of crap, and i thin ki speak for many players when i say its difficult enough to get a capship, just mellow out on it. not everyone wants ot have to invest 20hours+ of their life in powertrading just so they can get a gunboat. you know some people would like to do missions to buy a capship to you know live their rp. if im a pilot in the outcasts or mollys why would i have to trade to get a capship wouldn't my completing of missions or such allow me to purchase? god its just making it so casual players cant enjoy all the facets of this wonderful mod. Guard ID's in 4.85 - Drake - 10-22-2008 Actually, the Freelancer ID still allows gunboats, and allows you to trade (and smuggle), hunt bounties, and fly wherever you want to go. Can't pirate, though, but that's the main limitation. Guard ID's in 4.85 - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 10-22-2008 I thought gunboats were restricted to specific ids, at least that is the latest news in the 62 page id thread. also from what ive read is people are going to be on a hair trigger as far as ZOI from the ravings of all the forum junkies. btw, my post above is also a critique of these various pages of nattering over semantics. how about we all jsut log on and play? ill be on my way to just that. |
