No, I am not being sarcastic.

Something something this. Remember to model the thing after game mechanics first, looks later.

Like I said, Swallow, this ship looks a LOT like a Vic Viper.

also I can give to Swallow textures that I used for mine LH VHF design, they are quite HD and box mapping friendly

Thank you, post them here please. Moreover, I have all your textures from one of your thread and I have found out how you do them so I could produce own ones for four recent ships. Actually, new Havoc III is using your civilian ones.

Lane Hacker Shipline - The Lane Hackers - 07-05-2015

She has to have something sexy to shake...

You did exquisite job so far. It is hard for me to imagine a better reincarnation of Bayonet. Your model is sleek, has uniquely recognizable shape and you managed to achieve a feeling of a very heavy fighter while maintaining intended nimbleness. At the same time this model still needs one attribute - an attractive rear. I was thinking about a radiator-like module consisting of small heat sinks visible in section between two rear engines - somewhat similar to the Snowspeeder . Obviously those heat sinks should be small, maybe more distant from each other and only slightly stand outside of the existing ship plating.

Besides the radiator idea I also have three additional comments.

  1. Weapon mount. I agree that the weapon mount would be better placed closer to the ship main axis.
  2. Simplified engine. If you go with the radiator idea it might be necessary to simplify the engine in order to not overdo details at the ship rear. This is completely circumstantial and may or may not hold depending on the applied texturing. Additionally if the internal engine does not stand out of the outer one the shape line while looking from top will be more sleek.
  3. Simplified arm-wings. At this point I honestly don't know which wing arms I do like more - blunt ones, current ones or the proposed sharp ones. Current ones give a distinctive style to the ship and possibly the shipline, while sharp or blunt ones are less radical to the first look.

Once again thank you for your outstanding work,
Bogusław

Waiting intensifies.

This might be a reason to create Lane Hacker alt.

Upon further deliberation & analysis

Sharing the opinion of the recent posters, I am very impressed with the work being done. Signing what Boguslaw proposed before me, I'd like to add a few extra suggestions. They are all minor which reveals how close we really are to a final model that can then go through texturing and get a proper size compared to its main rivals which undoubtedly are the Guardian and Manta.

Except #1, the rest of the suggestions are mainly trying to address the bulkiness appearance of that VHF model, which even though they do not provide any real advantage ingame, they make it appear less bulky.
  1. The windows should extend on the right and left side of the cockpit.
  2. The "bridge" connecting the cockpit with the ship's main frame can be much more narrow. In the image I propose to cut only a small portion of the existing "bridge", but I think it would look even better if you cut even deeper.
  3. Another small part that can be cut. A deep but very small cut which creates the illusion that the ship is less bulky. Especially important since its on the back of the vessel.
  4. I really like the wings. Their small and unusual shape. I'd like to show off this characteristic more by slightly "pushing" inwards the parts of the ship which hide the wings from a front or rear viewer. The parts should not be removed in favor a straight line of course, I am asking instead to be pushed slightly inwards.
Thank you!
