In terms of failure of duty, I don't really know who to believe as I've got friends on both sides who have given convincing arguments and points that outline the inadequacies and shortcomings of both teams. Diplomatically elected would never work here. The disco community is too small and everyone would just vote in their friends so they could get favors later on. That's exactly what's been going on with the admin/dev team already, it's just cliques vying for popularity and b bribing people for support. Something like this should have happened about 5 years ago. People say this about governments too. Democracy is only the 2nd wosrt form of government lol. In the end though it comes down to a dictatorship or not. Devs get in cuz they can produce material. GM's will be taking on the role of everything mashed into one. We need people to run the server, be involved with the player base, and who actually put some hours of flying time in a week. If the individuals are not voted on by community we should at least see community nominations that the current remaining staff could vote on. I don't wish to irritate the developers but we need server events and things to keep the story ball rolling more than we need new cursors, or even station models. Now that many new versions are in, hopefully our focus can shift back to serverside events. Much to dismay of many devs, that is where the real story forms, and story flow is where development is most needed now. Or maybe it should be the other way around? staff nominates, community votes? It would simply be bad form at this point for the devs to cut the player base out in the 'new order'. But as far as people choosing their friends, that is democracy in a nutshell. I'd rather see people in charge that are that well liked, not just because they can leverage progress. Also remember many would have been happy to stay at 4.86 for life. There was a time when you just made a game, and played it, without the constant need for re-balancing or post-development. As an 80's kid, i grew up dealing with games that didnt change every few weeks, we were the ones that upgraded ourselves. Games were finished and stayed that way. We don't just need people to program, we need people that are gamers and will help preserve the essence of the 24/7 RP server, and FREELANCER. The Devs are certainly not to blame for the latest Story line updates of 4.90 and 4.91. They are definately the best updates since 4.85 when we talk about Story and System layout. Especially Gallia is nice and worth to play in now. Ok. The Kusari - Rheinland war was a mistake, because i would like to see Kusari going to war against Liberty since ages now. That's just my point of view though. It was also about damn time to get a House going against the so called "I can go almost anywhere without being harmed and all the houses have to like us even if our Bases very close to their Borders are full of Pirates and Smugglers" neutrality of the Zoners and the IMG. It makes perfectly sense for Bretonia, because they need all ressources they can get. And the Bretonia/Gallia war is coming to an end after years of boring stagnation. The latest update brought us some nice fights, events and RP threads. I can't see what's so bad about that. So saying the Story Devs did an extremly bad job is a very long way over the top. We can always find things we don't like. Not to mention they don't get paid for anything. The only thing that really is unaccaptable and frustrating (just in case it is set in stone) about this one is the two days rollback without any notice. (I guess it was a secret for a reason though). And even after all this was done, it was not officially mentioned by the Staff anywhere? Something like a "Hey we did this, Deal with it" or a "Hey, we did this, but we have a backup and this will be uploaded as soon as the situation is calm again". Nothing. Just rumors in Discord. Correct me if i am wrong on this one though. Didn't find anything about the Rollback in the OP or anywhere else in Dev green yellow I don't know who is to blame here. Admins or devs? Not close enough to judge and I can't change it anyway. All i know is that at the end of the day only the players here suffered from this unwanted fight. Yes. I can't speak for every player here. But a two days rollback at a weekend? Another player and me invested many hours yesterday to get up a new POB Module. And i know we were not alone with wasting money, time and being disappointed or even angry about it. Not to mention that i invested (and wasted?) many hours at the Wiki at Saturday and Sunday just to see this being gone at Monday. We as the players can just go "i move along nothing to see here" or "i don't like. time to leave" anyway. But this was hopefully the last time we get a madness like this. Even if it was just a 2 days rollback. Every minute invested in-Game, with Forum Rp or other Disco related stuff matters with the player count like we have these days. And it shouldn't be wasted, because the staff is fighting. RE: Announcement of Server Transfer - ~Chio - 02-04-2019 Let me get straight to the point. This is no longer a game. Showing the definition of a game is just not staying together with our situation. A game is a structured form of play, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes used as an educational tool. We've reached the point where everyone has shown themselves, how they look at this game and how they wish to act to keep this game, "alive." Games are not the thing thinked of to be some sort of a hate machine, to release enormous amounts of negativity through the screen. You, the total moderation team of developers, admins and whoever else has an impact in all of this, you're doing things terribly wrong. Okay, I'm not a developer yet, I don't own any game which people play besides me, nor I have any impact here. But from my perspective, things are going just sideways, stepping back into past. This failure noticable publicy and impacting the game itself, it's just representing how you're just unable to control things. There's a difference between players arguing, causing dramas hate-spreading and other, and basically creators of this mod. See, when creators of this mode are arguing how the game should work, but none of you actually thinking of other players experience. You're just arguing in the background, revealing yourselves worse than players who cause arguments. Your every argument is impacting this game and its future, you're the ones "holding" all of this. You're not letting players to actually enjoy the game, roleplay it has. This, whatever you're doing creating multiple server to dictate in them and you to control everything, it's just making this game more dead day by day. Most of you want to dicatate, but owning a game is not about dictature. Read the game definition, it's about having fun. You're the only who should make the player experience enjoyable, make them feel enthusiastic when new stuff is released, creating more fun, roleplay and everything else. I won't interfere anymore, I expressed my feelings, these were my last words here. It's up to you how you will make this game enjoyable and show yourselves as the way players will enjoy the gameplay and not suffer because of your hesitancy of creating fun. Don't anticipate for good in the near future because of your hesitancy. If you think I was too rude here, then I'm genuinely sorry. It's just a game RE: Announcement of Server Transfer - ~Chio - 02-04-2019 I am not going anywhere my beautiful sunshine. |
