Tales of the Mandalorians - Dieter Schprokets - 01-30-2010 Refugees. Hundreds of refugees. They streamed from the captured Corsair prisoner transport like ants, squinting in the sunlight. For most, sunlight was a distant acquaintance, and in Cambridge, it was quite bright. Consul Diane Blane was speaking to an MI6 official in the adjacent terminal. She had been called here, and obviously wanted to know why. "The Mandalorians are not at all a charity organisation.", she said. The MI6 man smiled. "We have a situation here whereby you have an opportunity to simplify life for the Crown. Four of those men out there are wanted in Rheinland. Officially, we have to repatriate them, to face execution. Unofficially, for all concerned it would be better, perhaps, if they disappeared into your organisation?" While he was speaking he pointed to where four men in ragged flight suits were taken aside by Bretonian officials, and were being led slowly towards the Consul and the MI6 agent. The agent handed Diane four pieces of paper. She read them briefly. Two Hessians, a Landwirtrechtbewegung member, and a Bundschuh. "Those are the only records that exist that document that these men were on that ship." Diane shredded them. The MI6 agent smiled, and said "Good. We have an understanding." He began to walk away. "I was never here. Nor were you, nor were they.", he called back. The four men were brought to the woman who, they soon learned, was their saviour from the gallows of Rheinland. Only one of them, one of the Hessians, spoke English well, but he soon translated for the others, who looked very relieved at the prospect of their new career, compared to the alternative. Diane thought that "Loki Squadron" had a nice ring to it. Tales of the Mandalorians - Dieter Schprokets - 01-30-2010 Hal Skye was working on the engines of his Bounty Hunter Gunship with the assistance of the new mechanic/pilot, Rasori Canus, when the Mandalore approached him. Hal put down his tools and stood at attention. "Relax son, we aren't precisely military. At all." Bishop walked slowly around the ship. "Nice bird.", he remarked, "You still have to give her a proper name." Hal nodded. "I just haven't thought of a good one yet, sir." "Bad luck for a ship to not have a name.", responded William. Hal nodded again. Bishop turned to the pilot and emphasized his next point with a pointed finger. "You absolutely must not use this thing against the House Militaries of Kusari or Rheinland. The Bounty Hunters Guild will make soup with my gonads if that happens." Hal gulped. That was an unpleasant thought. Bishop turned to leave, then stopped. "Oh yeah, one other thing." He pulled something from his pocket, and pinned it to Hal's shoulder. "Can't have warriors flying gunships, eh, Alor'ad? Would send the wrong message." He winked, then shook the promoted pilot's hand. "You log a lot of hours. Keep it up, son." He then walked away. Canus gave Skye a thumbs up. Sometimes the Mandalorians weren't big on ceremony for field commissions, but a promotion was a promotion all the same. "NAME your SHIP!", the Mandalore yelled from across the hanger as he left. Tales of the Mandalorians - Dieter Schprokets - 01-30-2010 Raulo Cruz returned to his quarters on Freeport 9 with additional tequila. Since joining the Mandalorians he'd had plenty of time to drink, and plenty of money to buy drink with. His liver was quite sure he'd had enough. But it did not get a say in the matter. The young woman who answered the door smiled warmly, and took the Tequila from his hand. "I cannot get this in Bretonia. I'm glad you could find more." Raulo laughed, and answered, "I never met a Bretonian woman who can stomach the stuff!" Never mind one with legs like yours, he thought. The woman laughed, and poured the drinks for them both, and she handed Raulo his drink with a vivacious smile. "Cheers!" Raulo grinned broadly and downed his. His was not precisely Tequila. What followed was excruciating, but quick. ----------------------------------------------------------------- A man in a dark uniform with an insignia few would recognise waited impatiently in the hanger deck. Footsteps could be heard coming towards the two fighters he was keeping an eye on. The same long legs strode towards him. She wore a similar dark uniform with the same insignia. "Is it done?", he asked. "Yes, Gra.", she answered tersely. He grunted, "Back to Crete then." He began to mount his fighter. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The two Titans pulled slowly away from the station, lit up their cruise engines, and made their way to Omicron Gamma. The body of Raulo Cruz drifted away from the station in the opposite direction, face frozen in a grimace. The Dha'wherd would be avenged. Tales of the Mandalorians - Dieter Schprokets - 03-02-2010 Mandalore Bishop was seriously drunk. Not just kidding-around-drunk. Not just maybe-I-might-be-hungover-tomorrow drunk. Not just drunk-enough-to-dance-to-this-lousy-music drunk. Oh no. Your-liver-hates-you-and-will-now-escape-out-your-ear drunk. His men were too. Ainu Depot bar was almost out of Scotch. That would be an issue, if anyone thought about actually selecting a drink anymore. Mostly it was just point at bottles, and grunt. A livid Diana Blane stormed in. She walked up to the table the drunken Mandalorians were seated at. Her voice was cold. Like Liquid Nitrogen would be if it was colder than it is. "I have to come to Kusari to find the Mandalore in a... brothel!?!" Billy opened one eye. It would have to do. "Not a brothel. Say "establishment". Don't offend them. They got us Glenfiddich." This fact justified anything to him at the moment. "B'sides...", Billy continued, "It's Ani's fault. He lived here last year. Or at least they all seem to know him. And I had to pay his debts. And I think maybe even some child support. It's all good. They found us Glenfiddich." He closed his one eye, then raised a finger. "Got paid twenny mill. Captured a Kusardessroyyer.." His tongue was not doing what his brain was telling it to do. Diane looked at him quizzically and translated from Drunken Billy in her head. (She'd had experience doing this..) When she figured it out she looked impressed, to say the least. "You captured a KUSARI DESTROYER?!?!" Ani Ducar looked up briefly from the bosom of a young woman long enough to give a nod and a thumbs up, then returned to his happy place. Daniel Auxier gave a grunt which may have been acknowledgement of the truth of the statement, or maybe he was passing wind. Or both. He then said "Blood Dragons got it. Very satisfied with the customer service." The Mandalore opened both eyes, focussed on Diane with effort, and said very slowly, so as to actually be understood.. "Twenty" "Million" "Smackerooos.." Diane Blane sat down slowly and ordered herself a stiff drink of her own, no longer even close to grouchy. Tales of the Mandalorians - Dieter Schprokets - 03-24-2010 The Mandalore stood before his assembled pilots. "Today", he began, "we honour one of our men with a promotion that is well deserved." He drew the simple insignia of the Alor'ad from his pocket and gestured towards one of the men in the front row. "Kanricko Kadem is now Alor'ad; 'leader of men'." Kanricko came forward and took his insignia and placed it on his simple black Mandalorian tunic, smiling proudly. The others in the audience applauded loudly. After a while, William gestured for silence. "It was not difficult to decide to promote Kanricko." he said. "What was difficult was to decide to promote nobody else at this time. So many warriors are so close to being ready to be Alor'ad, that I could not pick and choose among you." He paused. "Ultimately, I decided to be prudent and wait longer. Not for lack of some of you deserving promotion; rather, our organisation does not need too many leaders at this time; and there were too many worthy pilots to choose from." "Know this: I am proud of our fleet and all the dangerous work you do." "And your excellance shall continue to be well rewarded!" William listened to the cheers, and knew that there was little this fleet could not do, if the will be there. The will, and the money. Of course. Tales of the Mandalorians - casero - 05-14-2010 The Mandalore got to the MhiMotir tanned, the sun is shinny in Curacao, place where he has been the past 2 months. There was a big pile of bills to pay, letters to read, the obituary... Things have been spicy all around Sirius lately, and his boys have been doing well in his absence. Billy looked at the liquor case, someones been taking his booze. He sighed. What kind of man would rob a mans booze while hes away?, he wondered. A smart one... or any middle age Bretonian too, the voice came from the door. The light behind the figure made impossible to distinguish the face. The man kept talking. Oh for Caylith, cant yo... Hold your tongue, I dont need to see your face... the smell of my wine, the smartass smile, the posture... Dha, you could asked me for the wine, Billy said while standing up. There wasnt much left anyway, youd not let me have the last drop, Dha said, and stretched the Mandalores hand. How was it, William?... are you ready to get back to your duties? The Mandalore stared him. I wouldnt be here if Id not be ready for my duty as Mandalore, Dha. Lets get to business, shall we? His right arm pointed to a chair across his desk. Tell me, Dha, I need the recent news. Dha remained silent for a moment, with William staring at him. Dha scratches his head. What can I tell, Billy. He said. Warriors have gone, and some new have came, some others returned to full activity... Theres a Alorad, no one has forced me to give so many cheques before, that man is a beast He took a bottle from his pocket. Drinking so early? Billy said smiling a bit. Do you know who do you look like doing that?. He continued. Dont tell me, I thought the same thing... John... oh god, have we spent that much time together that we know how the other think?... thats... good... its nice to have you back Dha smiled too, and shacked his head trying to not start remembering the old days. As I was saying, that alorad is a good prospect, keep an eye on him Took another sip from the bottle. Your consuls however... or the lack of them, is starting to be a problem Dha was full serious now. Which ones are you refering, Dha? The Mandalore bent over his chair with the eyes closed. Well, Ive been forced to do part of your job here at the office, Diana is with her boyfriend at Rheinland or shes locked on his expensive room at Freeport 9... I dont know, she doesnt show up that often when you are away. Getel and Briikase are missed, we havent heard anything from them in a long time. Sagittarii is out there making money with some Alorads and warriors. Seems we need to tighten some screws... Billy looked at the empty glass. Call the Consuls to the MhiMotir, Ill wait for them at the conference room. Dha noded and left the room. Tales of the Mandalorians - casero - 06-03-2010 Two ships were arriving to the MhiMitor, Diana Blanes switchblade and Sagittariis Trident. Theyve been called by the Mandalore, concerned by the the absence of his consuls in action. Dianas ship docked on the Mandalorians flag ship, while the Caribdis started mooring procedures. Diana was waiting on the docking bay for Saggittarii, the boarding door opened, and the big figure of Sagittarii appeared, as usual wearing his vest and hat. He stayed in front of the door, looked around, not even a smile, something very common on him. He glimpsed Diana accross the room. She, waiting with her hands crossed on her back, indicated him the corridor to the elevator. Diana, long time, eh? Last time I saw you, you were unconscious on my cargo hold, and I left you at planet Cambridge, he said as a smile peeped on his face. Diana laughed a bit, Well, unfourtanely, I dont remember that, last time I saw you ... when was it? 80 lb ago? What have you been eating on Malta? looking at him from head to toe. Malta is a nasty place, Diana He was serious now, Gamma? Its a ride on the park, and its full of corsairs... but outcasts, they are something darker, I had to bulk up, the weaks die in Malta... or worse. They kept walking to the elevator, in silence now. New warriors walked in front of them, but no one recognized them. No one knows who we are... whats wrong with these warriors, they dont salute these days She said. Well or they dont know us, or they know us and thats why they dont salute Sagittarii laughed hard this time. Its good to see you didnt lose your sense of humor. Well, you have to stay optimistic in Alpha They took the elevator to the conference room, where Bishop and Dha were already waiting for them. So, we are all here... Getel and Briikase are missing... no one heard of them in a long time now, they will be declared MIA, and lets hope they return someday. The three consuls were sitting down around the table "You all may have wondered why I have called you here. I won't let you wait any longer and get straight to the point: I will not be Mandalore anymore. I think - and I feel - that my time has passed....I can't do anything else for the organisation but to leave it it the hands of someone more capable than me." Billy played with the Mandalore ring, the consuls were silent. "Well Billy, I gues you already have decided who's gonna be..." Dha asked. "No!...The title of the Mandalore is not just something that can be passed on, it really must be desired by the person. So, who wants to be the new Mandalore?" I cant believe you are giving up, of course I wont take the leadership, Ive done it in the past, and we both know I cant do it as its required., knocking over his chair as he swiftly stood up. Neither I wont replace you William. You have much to give us yet, dont quit, things will get better. If Getel and Briikase are not here, we can always look for new consuls. Diana said, trying to calm Billy from taking a stupid decision. Its not about them, its in my inside, I dont feel I can lead these men anymore... what about you Sagittarii? Dha was standing near the door giving his back to the table, Diana was looking at Billy, wondering what have changed inside him. You teached me everything about the Mandalorians, William. One of the most important thing you told me was that our traditions must be respected. If you can't serve as the Mandalore anymore, a Consul must take your place, even if it was against your will. It might get me in really deep trouble but yes; Yes I will be the new Mandalore." What are you saying Sag?! Yelled Dha from the door You cant do this to him. Dha, this is not different from what we have done in the past, and furthermore, this is what Im asking for, something that must be done. Bishop got up from the chair I really appreciate you my friend, but this is my decision, and it will be my only one. Diana remained silent looking at Sagittarii. Diana... please wait outside the room, you too Dha, Ive to talk with Sag in private Both Diana and Dha left the room without saying a word, anyone could tell that Dha was furious, what was crossing Dianas mind is hard to know. Well Sagittarii, I think you are capable of leading the men as you have proven it many times against the corsairs. So, thats not gonna be a problem You just said something about traditions... theres a tradition yet to be fulfilled... the Consul who is taking the Mandalore position is supposed to kill the Mandalore... despite that this has not always been like that... what are you going to do? Well Sagittarii stood in front of Bishop. Ill protect our traditions William.. "I must accept your decision - but I won't make it easy for you." Sagittarii throw a fist at his face, Billy took his arm and tripped him. "Is that all you got? You must be much faster my friend! How will you avoid getting killed by another Consul, if you are not fast enough? Billy... you dont know half of me... Sagittarii got up "Can you remember where you sent me? Malta is not an easy place - it's either kill or get killed. People there are bloodthirsty" Sagittarii ran to Bishop, and him kicked his face, affecting him in no way, and Sagittarii got him in a bear hug. Im at least twice your weight William, but dont think that you are faster than me because of that, Ive been drinking Bloodamine, you know what is that? Sag squeezed him. Its Blood with Cardamine, you dont know what can it do to you, unless you drink it. Sag let him. Get up William. Well, William spat some blood. You are showing your real face, arent you? He cleaned his face. Seems you werent man enough for Malta, and you chose to hide behind the fact that they are the worst type of human, well, I thought you could handle it, I was wrong, that was my mistake. An uppercut hit Bishops jaw. They changed me, Im not hiding.... and still, you dont know half of me, William, there are more things than you dont know Hahahaha, enlight me then oh great mandalore- I will... but first... let me as you something: Do you know what a ring - what YOUR ring represents? It represent eyes, eyes that have seen through all these years, from the moment the first person had put it on. Since the first Mandalore wore it, it represents the power of the Mandalore, the power of the Mandalorians Sag, threw Bishop across the room and he hit the wall. "And it seems to me that I have clearly more power than you!" Bloody beast Bishop thought. Sagittarii lifted him against the wall Im going to take your ring, William... Im going to take your eyes He smashed his face, and then blinded Bishop using his fingers. You are amazing, William... any other man would have passed out at this point... you, however, not even a soft scream... nothing... you are tough, Im sorry that this has to end like this. You are strong, but dont be so confident on your skills, theres always someone stronger than you... always... William leaned against the wall. Finish what you started. Be patient William... there are things you have to know before... You will be surprised. Outside the conference room. Half an hour had passed by since Dha and Diana had left the conference room. They were still waiting for the two men inside. As the door finally opened, Sagittarii came out of it, alone, with blood on his clothes, and missing one hand. Both, Diana and Dha, looked at him with great anger. Traditions... we live and die for our traditions Sagittarii opened his remaining hand, and showed the Mandalore ring to the Consuls, that now were his - Mandalore Sagittarii's - Consuls What you are feeling now? Anger? Hate? Frustration? Use those feelings, use them against me or against our targets. Wheres his body?! What have you done with him?! Dha demanded. You dont need to know that...yet. Take some time to say goodbye to your friend. In a litle while I willl call you to inform you about some changes that will take place here. But for now, I could need a medic...and seems you need some time to get over it. Dismiss!. Tales of the Mandalorians - Dieter Schprokets - 06-10-2010 The upstart had taken his eyes, and his Chair. The Chair, Sagittarii would obviously keep. For now. But his eyes, well, Sagitarii had made good on that. Consul Bishop adjusted his view settings to the infrared frequency, and also tweaked the ultraviolet. It was bright, so he polarized the setting. All with just a thought or two. Amazing what eyes costing 50 Million credits could do. They even looked like the old ones. Billy would have had a hard time explaining the colour change to his wife. All she knew is that Billy had been demoted. She did not know, or want to know, how. Smart girl. "Wonder if I can get this ship to shoot by thinking 'fire rearward missiles'?" Nah. That would be just silly. Billy scanned the New London jumpgate. If his intel was correct... There was the heat signature. I know that ship. And the transponder code matched the one the Hessian had provided. "Hi, Paycheck", announced Billy. "No thugs about, I see. And isn't that ship a little small for your taste?" A certain gentleman with a self-carved smile answered, "Look, this ship is a rental. Can you cover any damage you may do?" Billy smiled. "Sorry, old son, but our insurer dropped us. Seems our succession planning makes us a horrible risk.." Banter ended soon. Shouldn't play with one's food. Not bad for a Gunboat junkie, thought Billy. Too bad for you I fly a fighter for a living. Not bad for an old ex-Mandalore, thought Billy. Got my eyes back, my skills back, and my ships back. And in time, my bloody Chair... Tales of the Mandalorians - casero - 07-08-2010 Sagg'Tar'di and Bishop's little talk Inside the conference room, a month ago. Well William, to begin with, my real name is not Sagittarii, that's clear. That's the codename I've chosen for working for Bretonia's crown. From my real name, all I'm going to tell you is that it's John, you won't get the last name, not quite yet. I was born without a father, I never got to know him, he abbanded my mother after she got pregnant, aparently he had another family, some men do that, I don't point my fingers to him. MY mother gave me all what she could, althought we were poor, and Liberty isn't the friendlier place for poor people. I grew up, as I could, once I got enough age for living by myself, I went to find my father, from what my mother had told me, he was in Bretonia. She said he was some kind of military man, so, that was where I started looking, on the Bretonian Armed Forces, of course, his name didn't show up, not in the way I expected. Turned out, that he was a Mandalorian, I couldn't find much about him, as his records were really secured, so I had to find him old style, by asking around. The best way to get information in this universe, is by force, probably not by using your force to get someone talking, but to be useful for someone. To be more clear, being a mercenary. This is why I started working for BAF, although, there weren't many mercenaries working for them, with the MM taking them out of business, but in one of my trips I found this gentleman from the Queen's Carina Privateers, he pointed me out in the right direction... "If you want to make yourself valuable for Bretonia, start shooting Kusarians", and so I did. I moved my operations to the Taus, where I started hunting the KNF and Samura. One day, a weird man came to me at Freeport 6, he was flying an Eagle, I remember because I saw him at the hangars when I docked. He got me at the bar, I was drinking beer as always, a pretty old song was going on the jukebox, the smell from the bathroom was more stinky than usually. This man was tall, big, around 35, he got near me and said "Hey, I know your job". And he got a sit next to me, the bartender came with a beer for him, seems like he always drinked the same there. Continue... Tales of the Mandalorians - casero - 08-07-2010 Present time. I'd not like to throw you both out through the window... it's brand new", he said with a smile on his face. "No, your time hasn't come yet, Mandalore... you called us here", said Dha while sitting on one of the chairs. "What did you want from us, Mandalore?" She asked with her serious mood, as always. "Always to the point, eh Diana?, fair enough, I got a mission for you two", Sagg started explaining. "We have plenty warriors or, even, Alor'ads who could do whatever mission you send them in, why two Consuls?" Diana questioned him. "Well, Diana, I can't rely on them with this mission, there can't be any mistakes", he said with relief "What's the mission about?", asked Dha. "We have been hired by The Council, for one special target, and just one target...", he said and continued "We have to kill the prince". The expresion on Dha's face was pretty clear showing what he was thinking, Diana remained silent. "You must be kidding, Mandalore... Kill the prince?... How can we do something like that?... We can't fight the whole Gallic Navy" Dha rushed to the Mandalore. "Slow down, Dha, he might not like us, but he won't send us on a stupid mission just like that, there must be something we didn't hear yet. Am I right, Mandalore?" She said. "You're right this time, Diana, the prince is going to be on a trip, to Gallia's borders, normaly that wouldn't be an advantage, as he would have a quarter of their fleet escorting him, but he's not going in an official mission, what our intel got for us is that he's visiting a woman, for security reasons, he was denied to visit her as Prince, but it seems the young man is rebeling himself against the King, he'll fly alone, with only his personal guardians... This is an unique chance to get his head." The Mandalore steped up and walked around his office. Both of the consuls remained silent again, Diana was looking at the Mandalore's back, while he was filling a glass with water. "Alright Mandalore, we have a warrior there in Gallia, right? Francis Bowman? We can use him" She said. "We can't Diana" Dha interrupted and looked her in the eyes "We are not the only ones spying, I'm sure the Gallics already know about Bowman, and they must keep him watched... to succed on this mission, no one must know about it... not even Francis, we can't risk our necks on getting our transmission hacked." "Then, that's all, you must be going right now, we can't dely it anymore", the Mandalore said. The Consuls went to the door. "Won't you wish us good luck?" Dha asked. "Heh, alright, good luck Consuls" And they left room in direction to the hangars. Sagg'Tar'di picked up the communicator "They are going already, prepare your men." |
