Freelancer Continuum - Fletcher - 07-30-2011

So, you got a website for us to peek on? Or a twitter or blog to stay up-to-date on?

Also, pictures of some ships? You recycling vanilla while adding on or a complete model update?

Well, when I still played on Discovery I had the sense that everything ended always in a friendly manner. From our past Discovery experience we are trying to avoid doing certain mistakes, like having a bucket full of systems that rarely somebody enters in. This doesn't mean that we won't update all existing vanilla systems to make the more visually pleasant.

And yes, thanks to FLAC (a similar counterpart of the FLHook serverside plugin) we can now add fuel usage. Ships will actually use fuel. So docking from time to time will spare you from not being able to cruise. Space anomalies (like the ones that you encounter in the Omega-3/New York) nebulas are now fatal, and the funny thing is that Auto-Pilot does not detect them, so you'll need to avoid them while navigating through the various Nebulas.

We have explosive anomalies (they damage your shield and hull) and electrical anomalies (they damage your shield). I'll spoiler you something about how Liberty will be in Continuum to give you the idea.

In 817 AS, as a result of an experiment performed over 400 years ago by the Liberty Government in Texas, involving the famous Dallas Research Station, a black hole managed to open several phased jumpholes from Georgia (where the black hole is) into Texas. The effects could be noted immediately by the various pilots that saw 'the black death in their face'. The two Negras, powered by the energy of the black hole expande in one unique antimatter cloud. La Grande Negra.

Texas is now a wasteland, Planet Houston became inhabitable because of the cloud surrounding the sun, thus making the temperature on the planet's surface to go down near -23 °C.

The Mississippi, which was stationed in orbit during the 'Awakening' had its electrical systems fried by the shockwave coming from the Nebulas. Before anybody could realize what was happening in Texas, the crew of the Mississippi died from a painful death, as a result of the lack of oxygen after the failure of the life support systems.

Every model will be changed. Weapons, Stations, Ships and Interiors. We won't open no website for now, but you can find us at www.lancersreactor.org .

Anyway. Spoiler time is over. New spoilers will come on the 30th of August.

Meanwhile, you can appy for the following roles if you have the will and the skills to do it.

(Like ads for joining the Liberty Navy that we will then place in the interior of a station, on the boards of a city.. a lot of work to do, and we need creative people).

Lore Writers for the IMG, GMG, Zoners, Junkers, Hogosha, Outcasts and many other.

Audio Editors - (Propose your tracks)

After Effects Editors / Video Editors - (For the intro videos or drammatical prologue videos)

We do aswell accept ideas on what we could insert, have, create, remove or edit. Refer here.

Oh Texas... wait, does that mean Rheinland can't get to Liberty now? At least through Hudson and Bering? If The Mississippi got incapacitated, did that also wreck the gates and lanes? Hmm, theories abounds...

Oh come on... make a Twitter or something, though it id great you're answering questions an all and not pulling a Gaben.

Rheinland is facing a civil war. Kusari has a Dragon lead Government, while Samura became an unlawful movement (Kishiro became the main Kusari based trading company). Bretonia is facing problems with its environment.

There are no House wars for now. Since we won't set a specific House-diplomatical canon that you need to follow. The player's actions can determine a war, seal a treaty or live in peace.

I'm putting five British Pounds on the table right here and now, that within two months of the Continuum Mod being released, and there is a stable route between Liberty and Rheinland, there WILL be a war.

Its almost drilled into the Freelancer psyche that they will always fight.

Freelancer Continuum - Lohingren - 07-30-2011

the models are really nice looking noone can deny that but a problem i would like to bring up, i dont mean to be a balloon popper here but.

The poly count of the models does not have anything to do with your computer being able to run it, but the FL engine being able to handle it.

56k poly's for one model makes things really unstable for the engine itself, anyones computer can run anything from 100k -> 200k polies no problem. Its the engine you gotta worry about.

Not even freeworlds is able to go above a certain ammount without things going p00f.

Nightstalker, who made the NSU mod used some models that had over 89.000k polys, and Freelancer could handle it. Well made models can't crash Freelancer, unwelded vertices can do that, since the rendering program wouldn't know which surface to render in this case, and you'll get a CTD.

The biggest model that we have now is a 78.241k model.

Freelancer Continuum - Lohingren - 07-30-2011

its not about CTD's mate, Freelancer can use a model upto 1 million polies if you got the time. Stability my son, I bet NSU isnt a very stable mod if they are using ship and station models with that sorta count.

I player at Nightstalker's server for over 1 month, 4 hours a day. And I never experienced server crashes because of the poly count. But thanks for the warning anyway.
