RE: Piracy - Rebirth - 09-07-2014 (09-07-2014, 03:55 PM)Snak3 Wrote: And if you are not in an active faction, you are pretty much ****ed. The most trading factions are experiencing less activity, due to their less possibilities and doing everyday the same boring stuff, the most can't do. And some just don't have the time to do so. (correct me if I am wrong please). The factions that do have activity could gain more if we just de-vote the ones that are official and show no forum activity this would open more places for official factions (IC i.e. since ages now, the only activity they do have are some ingame people trading around with their transports). + But Snak3 is right, no one actually does hire escorts. You can just look into the list, who is currently in your system or on your destination. RE: Piracy - Trogdor - 09-07-2014 Like I said. You could take all of the 5k transports... the big trains, the heavy tankers... and make them 10k transports. Bam, a 4k ptrain is no longer taking their entire haul. Or nerf the ptrain's cargo capacity, if it's so much smaller and more agile than the 5k's at only 700 or whatever less cargo. DELETE - SnakThree - 09-07-2014 DELETE RE: Piracy - Rebirth - 09-07-2014 Well, the pirates have also an Cloaking device and/or Armor Upgrades on their ships, not less of CAU's also. That lowers their cargo space already, and it depends on how much fuel they have with them. So I believe it's fine too, playing with less cargo capacity would get worse as pirate. You would take away the ability to cloak for them, and to put a good armor upgrade on their ships. RE: Piracy - Birdtalon - 09-07-2014 When I used to play I always pirated for the money. That isn't to say I said "2milordai" and didn't roleplay. I enjoyed both the roleplay and the income that piracy gave. Back when I used to play you could guarantee a ship coming through at least every 5-10 minutes, so asking for 2 mil wasn't bad but I can understand why people would ask for 5 mil or more when you get 1 ship past the lane every 30 minutes. RE: Piracy - Tutashkhia - 09-07-2014 Pirate the way you like. There will always be lots of critics , no matter how you do. But I... I don't like monotony, sometimes I demand money, sometimes I just talk. Depends on my mood. RE: Piracy - Takka - 09-08-2014 I got hit by two IMG bombers (you know who your are...quack) on my Daumann, a Hegemon with a hold full of uncut diamonds, They had and my partner drop everything, picked up what they could and shot the rest. They also blew me up for failure to comply, naturally. My first thought was that this is bad for RP as it pretty much gives me no reason not to die. It would have been silly to re-enter the system for a couple of hours anyway and with nothing to show for my mining it was a good as a pvp death anyway. Pretty much got a teleport back to my previous dock for the price of some nanos and batteries. My second though is that this may be good for RP. Not every pirate you come across is going to be a lovable rogue, some are going to be cut throats, some are going to have political/commercial ties that dictate their level of hostility, and some are just gonna be plain greedy. All this comes together to make a rich and diverse population of players with differing motivations and differing expectations as to what the game will provide for them. I was frustrated at the futility of my actions but in my heart of hearts, though I don't like being frustrated, I knew that the whole reason I play on my trader/miner is for the feeling of eeking out a living in hostile space beset by bloodthirsty cut throats (again you know who you are...quack). That frustration was a taste of what it must be like to have your hard work ruined, difference is my IRL space family are ain't starving because of it. They mercilessly attacked us, demanded more than they could carry, and wantonly destroyed our hard work. Yet the whole time they were in character, communicative and repping their faction. Full on hardcore RP. The only things that makes a player toxic in my opinion is griefing and cheating, I'm even down with a certain amount trolling if it's in character. RE: Piracy - Takka - 09-08-2014 Also I think it's important to say that my characters feel different about pirates. My miner would rather pay and keep his family alive, my trader would rather work out a deal, and for my bounty hunter they are combat targets. Thus different types of pirate offer different interactions. The miner gets to pull the heart strings, my trader gets to wheel and deal and my bounty hunter gets to blow stuff up. 'You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your f***in' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy."' RE: Piracy - Zayne Carrick - 09-08-2014 Quote:Like I said. RE: Piracy - Zen_Mechanics - 09-08-2014 regardless of how I feel about it, it should be crystal clear that traders should gain more, some solutions like buffing cargo size can work. |
