Then more traders need to return with their coffee and look at the "you are dead" screen. Disco is best when it is not played in afk-mode because in that mode there never is any roleplay. It's cut down to minimum and that's what hurts Disco.

We did some combat mining a few days ago with enemies logged in the same system. It was thrilling. Tense. It demanded coordination. Resulted in a fight eventually. And felt like a "good" Disco day, even though a lot of peeps on my side exploded.

But compared to "I played. Nothing happened", it was amazing!
We want more "amazing", less "meh... nothing..."

And therefore POBs need placement rules and mining needs changes. Both it seems is being worked on.

absolutely... posts with valid arguments to consider. @Darkseid667 @Rvg5

I have to say i have exxaggerated when i said i see a "problem" if pob's are "inside" of mining zones.

There is alwasys a "problem" if people want to change things, but a good look has to be done which is the real problem itself.

To me it seems, people hope to be able to use the mining mechanics to generate more interaction. If that is possible? I dont know. I also see the best RP in the Forum and in some moments ingame, while mining not really.

I have found there are for sure some fun RP's in game. I was running around wasting time as a Zealous preacher for a cult. Spend 15 minutes trying to convert someone and getting yelled at by the liberty Navy. That was unique and fun if you ask me

This post was hilarious to me. I have never run into a "Zealous preacher of a cult" ingame. Just those in real life. I have got to find this cult and hear their "preaching". Hahahaha!!!

It is not only possible, but it is happening now.

I am in the situation of having an applied for and had approved by the Liberty Govt a specific RP focused POB in the Texas mining field. Or rather outside the active field by 4-5km above. This is Veltman Smelter.

It has generated more in-game RP than removed it. Most of the pirating that I have had happen to me personally has been outside the minefield but connected to mining activity (transporting). I have had more contact with miners. pirates, traders etc because Veltman Smelter is designed to generate this type of RP. It was deliberate designed and built around generating player contact.

It does not negate team mining as that is very active from my observation. Veltman was set up with a particular RP in mind, which is still being developed in forum RP. It does, meet the need of mining with reduced players, yes, and it does not lock out any player from the field unless they shoot the base. That is why I placed it that far away so it cannot be accidentally shot at, and miners cannot get to the base and dock as the radar range is only 5k at best.

I personally think a server station planted 6km above or below the centre of the field with no facility to sell ore would totally negate having to have any POB's. It forces the player to fly the 6 km to the station, dock, switch to the transport, undock and travel to tractor the ore. 6km is just on the optimum time limit before ore disappears. 7km is true maximum. This gives a lot of lead-in time for the Pirates who can threaten to destroy the ore, or steal the ore if the miner does not comply and pay a "contribution" etc. This INCREASES the piracy variety of methods.

Nicely put and my ingame play as a miner/trader has produced the same experiences.

This is why i dont love this threads. People try restrict all instead of just think how use it for creating good RP. Of course, that PoB blame! Restrict PoBs in mining fields, and silent miners magicaly will stop just look in local for spoting pirates.
