To be 100% clear, no changes were made to base shields.

K... the people this was directed at, encouraged others to fly as CR. Where does that leave your statement there?

Yea, I agree this feels a bit rushed, and maybe unnecessarily so. Apparently there have been times on both ends where both sides felt they were outnumbered by the other. However, there also seems to be a mentality on one side of "the red no point flying if we'll be outnumbered by 8 people".

Now, imagine if you had 12 people with that mentality and you can see a clear problem created by the very people who would otherwise go for it. Not saying that is the case here, but it is something to consider and is why those in the [HF] are generally encouraged to fly even if it results in us being ganked or just losing to numbers, skill, or both.

Overall, I would likely rather have this idea refined a bit more before giving it story/rp implications -- but that said, I think a few of the reactions here are a little misguided or make assumptions that shouldn't be made.

The respective sides could feel outnumbered but that's only on a tactical level, numbers speak for themselves - how many must there have been to knock the Helios down by some 60% overnight? Well, relative night anyway.

CR might have won a few rounds in space, but not a match where overall numbers and timezones played the key role.

Encouraging someone to fly the losing side doesn't automatically mean you want to actually be fair. It can also mean you just want to make the event balance look less bad, and make yourself look less bad. How naive are you? If they had any interest in being fair, they wouldn't have made the larger mob decide the way the mod goes, and they wouldn't have posted the hypocritical things I quoted.

PoB sieges bring out the worst in either side, people will go to all lengths to ensure the siege goes properly because with the current mechanic that's how sieges work.

Make a player driven event based on combat/trade and NOT based on the worst mechanic and aspect of this community.

+! Agreed
i rather have fights than sit around for 9-10hrs afk rightclicking a base. make an event which doesn't involve POBs please.

Welcome to the LOCK DOWN OF TAU 29 xD
, I didn't even stand any chance there. My bad should have just not logged in.

RE: [Official Event] Operation Cathedral - Thunderer - 11-06-2018

The Helios is supposed to attack Gallia in Tau 31. If it is destroyed, then the Outcasts will attack Coronado, and Crayter will not be able to harass Gallia. This makes #deletinggallia more difficult. So it is, in fact, the same, no matter on whose side you are. Both bring a non-vanilla faction closer to defeat.

Pretty much this. It seems like some people went nuts and forget that purpose of games is to have fun.
I had some nice fights during this event, both victorious and lost, but as it is now i am withdrawing from event. In 8 years here i never did exit game out of anger, until now. Either i have a mental breakdown or something is really wrong. Anyway, i am going for beer-induced cooling-off.

Americans, don't let this event keep you from voting!

Given how the event turned into 2 groups of 15+ players sieging a base each, I severely doubt there's any trouble in afk'ing to go vote.
