This is a Role Play server, what's valued here is Role play. If Phantoms have better guns in RP, why don't the Corsairs, the Order, LSF, et cetera et cetera? There are plenty of decent arguments for various factions to be better armed. Hell, the Phantoms only have one base, whereas the Corsairs, for instance, are apparently masters of building fighters. However, going down that track, ive personally never been a fan of "universal Balance" anyway, nothing is balanced in the world, some things have advantages over others, i have no problem with that in disco either, if its part of the Role play set down in lore for that faction. Constructing a clever legalistic argument for why a faction "could" have better guns after the fact is irrelevant - with vanilla factions, this is easy, go with whats written and known. If you have come here to win PVP fights, if your main concerns here are overridingly pvp centered (that includes gun balance, ship abilities, weapon types etc), (and you're not on the Dev team), if the higher percentage of your posts on the forums are concerning pvp or weapons load outs and yes, if you have come on here complaining that you lost a fight in game due to some perceived outrageous advantage that someone may or may not have over you - then i put it to you that your priorities here are skewed and a step back and a look around might be in order. By all means, be competitive- arm your ships so that you can handle the NPC's and have a moderate chance against other humans, there is no issue with this. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record - this is a Role Play server - PVP exists to service Role Play - Role Play does not exist to service PVP. I would counsel everyone who has complained about a weapon loadout to go in game - right now - and deliberately lose every single fight you get into - lose them all - fire to miss, sit still, whatever, you will see that really, it doesnt make anyone "better" than you because you lost. More importantly, while this is happening, have your chat screens open and Role Play the entire thing. My Kudos goes to the players who can do this and not complain - not to the player who killed you. If Phantoms get uber technology (which they don't seem to be getting... they could actually use a shield buster boost right now), it would have me asking why the RM and Order don't get uber tech, since they did have cloaks after all... Of course, when non-approval factions, like Corsairs, LSF, whatever, get a boost, that only increases the instances of lolwutting in those factions, ruining it for everyone. |
