Obtaining an Outcast Dreadnought

[*]One Hundred Million ($100,000,000) Credits payed to the order of the 101st.

Roleplay Requirements

A solid Roleplay for an Outcast Capital Ship should include all of the following:
  • Logical deployment: That is to say, no generic plot-devicey deployments to Nomad space (not that you should be there anyways; a good Outcast never intrudes upon the Land of the Dead) or raiding New Berlin.
  • An acceptable interpretation of the Outcast military structure: That is to say, the Military is a separate and independent entity from the Dons and Cardamine plantations, and that the 101st, as the commander of Corsica Military Headquarters, has final say in most matters, particularly regarding capital ships, which only Corsica has the ability to produce and launch (see below).
  • Capital Ships (Destroyers, Battleships and Dreadnoughts) cannot land on a planet; they must moor via the mooring fixture.
  • CAPITAL SHIPS ARE NOT TO BE AUTOMATED. They must have a significant crew complement, and automation must not be a major part of their function.
  • 'Admiral' is not a suitable title for the captain of a single ship. 'Captain', 'Commander', or, if you must command a whole bloody Battlegroup 'Commodore' should be used.

It is only to stop the independents from cap-whoring. Not to make money. Or control an individual's RP. (Refer to the Mahashakti in my signature.)

Er.... yes

the 100,000,000 part is a little... wrong.

I don't like the Idea of Factions charging Indies to fly ships to put it mildly I've just read they are charging people 50 mil now to register the Destroyer and 150 mil for the battleship which is kind of funny considering it's one of the worst in the game.

does taking money for the ship means that the 101st vows for the pilots they allow? - asking for money - in RP terms is OK - but it would be better if it was done in RP....

like : if you want to buy a battleship - pay the 101st 250.000.000 credits - why? - cause THEY give you your battleship license in return ( provided it was not included in the purchase price ) -that would be inRP.

asking for an additional fee is a bit unusual - but if they do give something in return ( like vowing for the captain and the ships actions ) - its OK. in the end, by licensing ships - the 101st integrates the ships into "their" command structure - and if we hold up the actions of a military chain up... the one responsible for a captain is the captains superior.

so, imo - asking for a fee is OK - if there is something in return - other than a "we don t kill you". maybe one can make it a fair trade off - you pay the 100m - and the 101 will assist you ( not by bossing you around ) but actually really assist you like among equals to get the RP straight. - that would take some time to work with new players - but it would actually really improve things, and for the assistance, the player pays the money - so its time vs. ingame cash - such a model could be fair.

either way - if that was the plan - it would be nice to put it into the announcement as a written rule, too. - a rule the 101st put upon themselves, a rule the player can refer to when he feels left alone.

Very good idea Jinx. Gave me another idea. maybe make official factions in-charge on battleship licenses for specific Faction Battleships. That way, if it don't have one its shot on sight:)

But for now, yea Jinx's idea is better;)

I think Jinx's suggestion is sound. 250mil and the license in return. Transferred honourably and not when anyone untrustworthy is around? Or just the player buys it after doing the RP with and with assistance of the faction. So it becomes "licensed" rather than "registered". Strengthens the link between player and faction. Charging to have ship? Surely the military command would be giving money to assist in the running of the ship, seeing as it s others doing the 101st's work.
I say this as neither a capship flier nor as an outcast.

OC Capital Ship Registration. - Jinx - 07-03-2008

a downside ( or however you look at it ) is that you can get the license anywhere else, too. - mind. handing out a license would be a matter of RP... yet still more or less mandatory to do. - it is still not upon factions to deny handing out stuff ( when it comes to making another player act against the official rules )

but it would certainly mean to "come into contact" with each buyer. that way, a faction knows the persons flying their ships ( which is the most important part there ) - so the fleet is not just a bunch of no names, but ppl that are known to the high command.

Brainfart:
Could BS licenses have different names depending on where sold? A one from Liberty shipyard be called "Liberty Forces Battleship License".
Or would this cause the Apocalypse to start and give everyone leprosy?

OC Capital Ship Registration. - Jinx - 07-03-2008

while its probably possible to copy that item under different names, - it would cause factions to play out their power-card on non factioned players. - right now, the license is a generic item - non related to a faction. when it said "liberty battleship license" - it won t take long till the liberty playerfaction "claims" it as their right to distribute - as a result, we have a playerfaction deciding upon others roleplay.

like i said above - handing out the licence should be mandatory! - it only serves the purpose to get into contact with the new pilot - and help him on his way - as opposed to having someone buy a battleship silently without ever uttering a word to the factions he affects.

it is not upon the factions to hold or deny the license, as holding it back would push the player in question into violating the server rules ( hence mixing up RP matters with server rule matters )

it is a gesture - nothing else. but nonetheless - an important gesture. - not to mention, one can "celebrate" it a little - deplyoing a battleship should be reason to celebrate - even if its a pirate battleship.

The current 100 mil is logical cause.... Drum roll please... The 101'st constructs all the dreadnaughts on Corsica! Just purchasing a dread without paying for the labor put into it is like having a contractor build a house for you and then telling the poor bloke that you're only paying for the material.

All in all; It's valid RP.
