Best Eagle loadout - stardust47 - 07-02-2013
I'm setting up a Freelancer Eagle, and I have a question: do I go for missiles, guns or some combination of the above?
MISSILES
Powerful, and they can track. On the other hand, they're slow, ammo is expensive, especially at the VHF level, and there's a risk of blowing myself up.
GUNS
Cheap, usually faster, won't blow myself up but they have to be aimed.
I'm leaning towards a mix of the two, myself. Debs to bring down the shields, coupled with Flashpoints and Firestalkers. I may go for something else, based on what I pick up from this thread.
As a side-thing, are CODENAME weapons worth it? I don't have a big massive powertrader ATM, so it's hard to say.

I'm pretty sure that even under medium server load the missiles will barely track on the server. At least that's what I read on other loadout pages.
On anything else, I'm afraid I have nowhere near the experience need to comment on the rest of this

Missiles do track, but they don't worth it.
There's no best eagle layout, everything works as far as you can use it. Despite general belief, a high refire is probably the best due to its multitasking ability. I'd pick PGCs because they think with the side turret in speed.
2 deb guns, 4 PGCs, 1 PGC turret.

Only decent missiles are cap ship missiles, and then only for big targets, NPC's, or clusters of ships.
