Buon giorno, Honoured Signori.
To you, Good Doctor, I bid hello again, in a most somber tone, for it is only with calamity on hand that we talk;
and to Duncan Stow, I must introduce myself; I knew your predecessor, Victor Cross, quite well, for I often had occasion to contact him in dealing with disaster, or to negotiate the latest series of trade deals between your good selves and the Empire.
I am Elder Ezio Della Francesca of the Brotherhood, Commander of the Agency for Corsair Intelligence and Operations, and most often regarded as the diplomatic face of the Empire ( although some of my compatriots would contend that I occupy such a position merely for my tendency to talk far mar than is good for a Corsair).
It is not in that capacity that I would talk to you today.
In all the time I have been in service to the Empire, I have always considered myself a friend to the Zoner People, going more often than not against the wishes of my commanders to be the voice of reason; from the backdoor negotiations surrounding Freeport 9, to my often unpopular support for Signore Summers, and after him Daniel Mobius and the various successors of the Freeport 1 problem.
It is in this capacity that I would deliver to you words of counsel, and advice, in this most gravest of matters ( for I fear recent events have far more import than either of you may truly realize), and I would deliver them in person, if you would both allow it.
I await your response.

That you would think I have been sent to negotiate a peace, or that the Empire would even consider negotiation, is to myself an unsettling confirmation that you have not yet deduced the true import of this matter to both the Corsairs and the Coalition.
I come to give you advice on my own graces, advice that, given past history between the Corsairs and ....certain Zoner groups, the Elders may not see as wise.
I have enough ears around to know too well that many Zoners involved see this as merely another point in the endless series of conflicts that barely involve yourselves, another storm to be weathered, another pair of combatants to be thrown against each other, whilst standing safely at arm's reach, that, wait long enough, and all this nonsense will simply evaporate, and a return to the normalcy of Zoner life not an if, but merely a when.
This is not the continuation of a string of petty skirmishes, or a minor scuffle by which each seek to test the other, but the culmination of decades of hatred and disloyalty, brought to a head by the continued expansion of both sides and the strategic and logistic import of Gran Canaria.
I would speak with you at length, Good Doctor, and with Stow as well. You both occupy unique positions from which the lengthy but dormant might of the Zoners might be, must be rallied for your people and Gran Canaria to survive.
Such survival will mean sacrifice, however, Doctor, and I think it might be neither men nor materiel that will be the most valuable things the Zoners must sacrifice to weather this storm.

Apologies, good Signore, for the late reply.
There were matters in Kusari that required my personal attention, and an Outcast raiding party made the return trip....difficult, at best.
I hope sincerely that your kind invitation still holds open.

Delays are often inevitable. But being a man of business, I know that delays can also be costly. The offer still stands, come to the OSI Corporate Offices with haste and we shall hear your words.
