Need some Wiki Advice - chovynz - 07-06-2008 I need some community input and advice on some Wiki formatting. Please read below and then vote. Post a comment if you feel like it. I need to choose between two formats of Wiki lists. Have a look at the statistics sections on both links below and let me know which way is better / easier to read / preferred. Standard: http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/Clydesdale Fancy: http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/Bluebell_Chain_Gun Need some Wiki Advice - FooFighter - 07-07-2008 I'd rather use this template. I haven't made it, just edited it a little bit (and I also feel that I probably should edit it more), but I think it looks very good and also is much better than the current one. Need some Wiki Advice - chovynz - 07-07-2008 That looks good. I would prefer the stats box on the right side though. Need some Wiki Advice - FooFighter - 07-07-2008 Alright, better now? Need some Wiki Advice - AdamantineFist - 07-07-2008 Dang complicated stuff... Need some Wiki Advice - chovynz - 07-07-2008 That is nice. Although, I'm wondering if the border can come off the main part. That's too boxy I feel. Having the border on the Stats is nice! I understand its in a testing phase: was just saying out loud. Looking at your background coding, I think we could do a FL/Disco themed wiki quite easily. It could even be with three sections and four images. More or less. I love CSS. I wonder if the sliding doors trick could be used on your layout Nathrael. http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/05/10...ter-css-coding/ http://www.gotapi.com/html Two useful site for this kind of thing. ' Wrote:Dang complicated stuff...When its ready to be used it wont be complicated for anyone to input stuff in. Need some Wiki Advice - FooFighter - 07-09-2008 Done, you are right, it looks much better now. As for the sliding door trick; haven't got a clue. I'm far from being good at when it comes to web design/CSS/wiki syntax etc; I'm ok at editing it, and I can also create small things, but I can't really do any more complex things with it than creating simple layouts. Need some Wiki Advice - chovynz - 07-09-2008 Well its good as a start. Maybe we can work on it together as we go. Need some Wiki Advice - chovynz - 07-15-2008 Well, I've done some testing and template adjustment. I believe we are very close to a working solution. Here is my test page. http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/Cowbell http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/Bluebell_Chain_Gun If you click on the edit page you will see that the fields to input the data are prety simple. The advantage of using these templates will be consistent layouts and very quickly changing everything if we need to later (say for example if we change the colors or fonts or positions of stuff) while allowing the people to edit the information without touching the background templates Can people test the pages and tell me if there are problems? And if there are weapon stats or information missing. I know it has a few problems in Internet explorer, but we are very close to having it work. I'll do some more research to fix the problem. If any one knows CSS, i'm looking for an all browser 2 column layout with a fixed column on the right based on the input information. Need some Wiki Advice - jammi - 07-16-2008 I feel so happy!:PFirst Wiki post! Planet New London is now filled in. http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/User:Jammi Is this format alright for Planets? I based it loosely off the page for Manhattan, but then I added some extra information and reshuffled it depending on how I thought it looked. EDIT: AAargh! I didn't name it right!! How do I change it?! |
