History:

What is currently known as Les Salopards can be dated to the year 500AGS with the creation of Narbonne Base. One of the first inhabitants of the base, Auguste Laurent, soon made a name for himself as a pirate. After a daring robbery of a large EFL convoy, Laurent’s ship was christened Le Salopard. A cult following soon modeled themselves after Laurent, but the man himself continuing to fly solo. In 512AGS, Laurent tried robbing a shipment of high value cargo on its way to Dauphine. Unknown to him, the Royal Police had set a trap. Even Laurent’s reputation wasn’t enough to save him from the strike wing, and Le Salopard was destroyed. To honor Laurent and his achievements, Laurent’s followers named themselves Les Salopards.

After 150 years, the memory of Laurent disappeared, but the group did not. Les Salopards remained relatively small, not a large enough force to gain the eye of anybody. However, in 686, Les Salopards absorbed another small band of pirates based out of Narbonne. This continued until 736AGS until Les Salopards had grown enough to name themselves in charge of the station. However, the group had expanded their view to more than just Languedoc and Dauphine, and needed a more centralized base of operation. Staying in charge of Narbonne, the group moved their HQ on board Besacon Freeport in the Franche-Comte system. Les Salopards have also shown interest in Planet Marne as a major smuggling outpost.

The current leaders of Les Salopards are Chantal Proulx and Baptiste Lachan. Chantal came into power with Les Salopards from one of the former Patrons, Antoine Proulx; Chantal’s father. Chantal was named as Antoine’s heir, so when he was killed by a Police patrol, Chantal was named as the new Patron.

Lachan heard of Les Salopards during his time in a Gallic prison. Once he was released, he had joined. His economic and swindling expertise was welcomed by Les Salopards, and his natural interpersonal and banter affinities, as well as his modest combat experience and advancing age, keeping him away from the frontlines, led him to climb up the ladder and become a valuable asset to the faction, rising up to the rare Patron rank beside Chantal.

Currently, Les Salopards focus on both smuggling Nox for the Corse and pirating anything in sight. They stay loyal to their Gallic allies, but Sirian outsiders befriended by the Legion of the Damned receive no special treatment.
