New Version of the Liberty Gunboat - Linkus - 07-09-2008

Firstly I would like to give credit to the original authors of this ship:
Lord Fjord and )v(aster. They deserve most of the credit for this.

Anyway, this is the Junker version of the Liberty Gunboat. Going on the idea that the gunboats are being phased out, I doubt the Navy would take the time to salvage them all, especially it doesn't even salvage other ships (Wrecks floating around).
So I thought that maybe these ships could be of use to the Junkers. Perhaps with a smaller powerplant etc so it isn't as capable as it once was but those are things for after I present the model. Speaking of which, here it is.

For your viewing pleasure (Or displeasure) here is a comparison between the two models.

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Omg wtf is this crap? Do tell all.
Just to make it clear though, this is in no way meant to replace the current model we have. It is simply meant to be what the junkers would do if they managed to salvage such a ship. Also, ignore the crappy rendering of the ships. The renderer is pretty useless. Textured version looks quite a lot nicer.

I like it, but I don't is it as a Junker ship for some reason. I do really like what you did for the arms underneath.

your render machine is crazy or something because the light reflections on them make them look absolutely ugly and I know its not suposed to be...

It is quite crazy. OpenGL usually is reasonable but Wings3D's version of it seems to be rather..bad.

Here's a better view of the clamps:

I've also been working on a junker version of a Prison Liner but that is taking a bit longer than expected. (Namely because of each and every face being turned into a solid object if I use seperate, causing chunks to come out of the ship if I delete anything)

clamps are nice, but not very impressive when compared with size of the ship unfortunately..

New Version of the Liberty Gunboat - Linkus - 07-09-2008

Any suggestions for the model in that case? Figured the clamps would suit the ship if it was used by junkers. For pieces that are too big for the hold etc. Must sleep for now though, 28 hours on the go.

huge ones taking all the front-lower sections?

New Version of the Liberty Gunboat - Horon - 07-09-2008

Seems like a good idea, but it still has a little too much Liberty in it...

Take the ''Mule'' as a concept model for a junker gunboat. Might be more promising.

New Version of the Liberty Gunboat - Culebra - 07-09-2008

I like the arms they are cool. I think however some of the liberty lawful groups might not like Junkers flying around in their old ships.
