GRN| - [C] Event Series - ChillerMiller - 07-19-2013

First of all, this is not really an event thread. It serves as a reminder for the GRN| and [C] members.

The lack of proper GRN| [C] interactions and activity in Gallia is something that needs to be fixed. That’s why the GRN| is going to try to shift some of its activity back into Gallia and [C] is invited to participate in it.

Here’s how it’s going to work.

The GRN| will discuss the patrols in skype and they’ll be announced in this thread, probably some hours before they happen. Yes, that’s not much time, but let’s be honest, do you plan a simple patrol? Not really. You just log and have fun.

It’s a chance for the Council to log and interact with us in order to create activity and fun for both factions.

How will the patrols look like? Depends.

It can be a simple snub patrol, some Lynxes, some Cougars etc.
Or it can be an escort patrol, as in Lynxes escorting transports.
It can also be a valor accompanied by a snub swarm.
These are just three examples, but you get the idea.

We’ll announce exactly what types of ships there’ll be, so that the Council can log the appropriate ships for the encounter. Once we're ingame we'll plan how this whole thing will look like.

So yeah, this is not your regular event thread. However, the event rules still apply for it.

This event is only open for members of the GRN| and [C], including indies if the respective patrol leaders allow it.

If you have questions, please post them here or contact me. The first patrol will be announced soon.

So you are essentially going to restrict interaction with the GRN| for everyone that doesnt belong to the Council, while you are on a patrol thats posted here. Which means that, whenever someone you do not like encounters you on one of these patrols you can just pull the 'event card' and tell them to get lost?
Sorry, but that seems to me as if you are trying everything you can to make the GRN| less appealing for outsiders.

Being strictly in Gallia and the main purpose being to feed the supposedly ongoing civil war, don't see anybody besides GRN, GRP, Council and Maquis taking part in this attempt to revive the main conflict since there's already half Sirian factions to prey on GRN already in Taus and Bretland, hm?

Today we've seen what happens with events in Gallia.

No seriously - even as GRN| I find Gallia's lonliness disgusting. Even with planned interactions.
Make them in Leeds.

Yesterday, a Council indie and I ([C]-Gervais.Pineau) chased you all the way from Ile-de-France to Leeds.

Keep an eye on the Playerlist for us maybe; it would've been fun for us to have had an RP-then-PvP encounter (or something) in Gallia.

Yes Ryummel, but what you are trying to do should be the (sadly not really existing) GRPs job, they are the ones that should be taking care of the Core Worlds, thats how we did it all the time with a rather simple reasoning behind it.
Staging fights with the Council will lead to a few encounters, but will add nothing but boredom later on. There isnt too much fun in interacting with the same people all the time, if there even is someone to interact with, that is.

Because it makes an awful lot of sense to let a police force to fight a military one. Why didn't the revolution triumph yet? O.o

PS: I mean, giving a second read to this gentleman's post, not like interactions in Leeds weren't with the same people over and over again XD

As far as I know, one of the main points of pre-organized events is to restrict who can and who cannot participate, and so far I have barely seen anybody else complain about that. What's wrong this time? Random players cannot interact with one of the participants at a specific time at a specific location if they don't want to, but they can pretty much do so anywhere else anywhen else, wow, so much of a restriction, really...

That's one thing, the other is that GRN is/was on life support, but not just them. Council still is, and I frankly welcome this move, this initiation of an event. These two factions are arch enemies, most of their activity has been depending on eachother at the time of their introduction. Since then GRN earned half of Sirius as their enemies while Council managed to get hostile to Outcasts, another faction basically everybody in the Taus hate. That leaves Council two well hated factions to shoot at with nothing to really appeal to new players so they choose us to shoot those faction, not any of the crapload of other factions. I am really glad and thankful that GRN doesn't want to solve their activity problems only through more pew with BAF, but with us as well. I am fully supporting this series of events, encouraging my fellow councilmen to take part in them and once I'm back at home, I'll look forward to shooting some GRN too.

As you have pointed out, we cannot really count on GRP protecting core worlds as they are nonexistent currently, what we got here is the GRN, we have to work with the GRN, and if that means more activity to Council, I will gladly do so.

To spice up activity I've been thinking on various things, nothing seeming to work in the end, neither thought such an event series would draw much attention, but if we never try we'll never know. But if other than telling us what's wrong and how this and that will not work, Jansen, you actually have some constructive criticism to add, some other, better idea to revive activity for these factions and for Gallia in general, I am all ears.

I also want to thank Danny for his help from the GRN side. Much kudos.
